“Smart Box Catastrophe!”

They have been fine up till now with phone calls and arrangements but after installing my smart box and saying everything is fine I went to start up my car and drive across London, the car wouldn't start and all electronics was faulty. My electric windows was moving up and down my alarm was flicking on and off and the most horrible of noises was coming from my cars electrical system. “Underhand insurance company”

Reminder letters must be sent out from insurance companies when renewal period is due. CIS failed to do this for one of my vehicles claiming they have stopped insuring commercial vehicles. They said they passed my details to another company who should have sent out a reminder. We did not receive this. I was stopped by the police and had my van impounded. “Worst Insurance Company Ever”

Unfortunately you have to pick a start at the top, i'd prefer to give no stars. Started out ok with Co-Op but within 3 months i was having problem after problem, i was spending more time phoning them for mistakes made with my account than i've ever had to call in my 16 years of driving. I made payments which for some reason they refunded without telling me, then chase me for payments that had already been made. “Too many fees.”

I am with co-op for the last 1.5 years and whatever I change they put the price up. Started from £55.00 per month and paying now £117.00 after changing the address twice and adding/removing second driver. Also they have £15.00 change policy fee, and £35.00 cancellation fee. They don't have any online account services and I need to phone every time. Checked with other companies and they are offering around £35.00 per month. “POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE”

I have several insurances with the Coop and a bank account. I am also a Coop member. Received my 2013 car renewal which was much more than I was expecting. Checked with online comparison sites and the Coop renewal was £60 more than the likes of Aviva, Saga, M&S and DL for identical cover. Rang the Coop. Appalling. Having all the documentation ready for the Black box fitter which included both licences for the additional drivers on my policy, these were not looked at . This despite being offered both at the time. “robbing plebs. Expect terrible stress when claiming!!!”

Happily and loyaly paid my premiums for over a year. Car broken into recently. Wing kicked in, locks knackered to get my sat nav by some dirty chav no doubt. Called co op and then the problems started. They Sent claim forms for a car accident instead of theft. Took car from my home without telling me where it was going or for how long. “No Claims Discount Trick”

Have received a letter telling me that because my 3 years No Claims Discount wasn't with the Cooperative and now my car insurance is now going to be about 40% more expensive! The on line question asked me how many years no claims I had, it didn't say 'with the Coop'. I'd filled a few on line forms and this question didn't vary from one company to another. We are having the exact same problem at this mo,we filled in saying we have got no claims on another vehicle and were told that was ok and to just send our no claims discount proof but because we not sent it in time theyve now put what was a good quote upto an absolutly rediculous quote which we have go to pay and if we did want to leave then would have pay a massive sum,please nobody take car insurance out with these they are VERY INADEQUATE.And riddled with problems.

Agreed. Had same problem been going on for over a month them saying the proof was not good enough blah blah blah. Called them this morning and got THEM to call my old insurance company to confirm how many years no claims finally got it sorted out. I have never had this problem with any other insurance company. And there customer service is really bad, only spoke to one helpful person there the rest well.

“Cheap cover BUT pathetic service”

Have been with them for two years and they provide cheap cover but in the event of making a claim they were PATHETIC!!! Further to a no fault accident they failed to contact 3 independent witness, failed to keep me updated with claim progress and failed to pursue clear and straightforward recovery from third party. Automated call centre takes ages to connect and each time you call have to explain the whole saga over and over again. Went on go compare website in November 2012(current insurance expiring 6 dec) got really cheap quote for fully comp.still shopped around but went back to C0-OP rang them up paid the deposit registered online got my insurance document and policy info downloaded THE SAME DAY.. absolutely first class service so far... ok i've made no changes,made no claim, so no hassle yet.... but be assured the first sign of that and i'm gone even if i have to change my bank card details so they cant take… Read Full Review

“Won't insure my Saab!”

Have been with Co-operative Insurance for several years and was always happy with how they handled my claims. However, they have today refused to insure my new 2007 Saab. They claim that this is because Saab recently went into receivership so they are no longer providing insurance for their cars. I think this is outrageous! “total rip off”

having had a small accident and then insured with axa insurance i then went to kwik fit insurance (no problems),i decided to insure with co-operatice insurance the year later as they offered a cheaper deal. after a week or 2 my insurance was cancelled and they said I had given them the wrong information. the information i gave them was the information i was given from axa and kwik fit (including no claims bonus). These guys are hopeless, designing a system to drive you insane. Started on the web site for car insurance, lots of detail onto the system -outcome no quote allowed, you will have to phone. “PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE”

If you wan't to be driven to dementia then this company will do the job. Any attempt to contact them by phone is painful. Firstly there is the long long wait for your call to be transferred from an inane automated system which keeps you on hold on a rip off 0845 number. “40 Years of Insurance”

Where do I start. 40 years of Insurance and never have I had such a bad experience. First they made an error with my car details, so insured a car under my name that wasn't mine! This was only apparent once I saw the document! Charged twice for 1 policy. When I contested it they could not figure out what went wrong, even though I explained it to 3 different people.
