“Plagued by cold callers from Co-op Car Insurance”

Written on: 17/01/2014 by ncs1 (3 reviews written)

I applied online for car insurance. I expressly put down on my application that I didn't want any marketing cold calls, texts or emails ... yet Co-op Car Insurance ignored that and have called me 7 times in the last 2 days, trying to get the sale. Thinking I'd made a mistake on the application, I logged back in to double check. And, sure enough, I hadn't made a mistake ... I HAD asked for no marketing calls ! I called Co-op Car Insurance to complain. They said it doesn't matter what marketing… Read Full Review

“SCAMS”

Written on: 16/01/2014 by Guest90000 (1 review written)

Probably the worst insurance company out there One payment bounced so without informing me they called my policy. Me knowing nothing of this I continued driving as usual. Got pulled over for diving uninsured. Was adviced by the helpful and considerate police officers to take this to court. And seeing as though I'm not the only one with this problem it does not seem like a mistake. They "apparently" sent me letters informing me of this cancellation which I have not recieved. Avoid this company… Read Full Review

“Do not use them”

Written on: 12/01/2014

I am on my second policy with co op now - and they will do anything and everything to get every init of money out of you, they love the small print. They are the cheapest out there by far, but this is the only reason I am with them! If I had more money I wouldn't hesitate to spend the extra money on avoiding them! If you can afford not to use this company then for gods sake do not use them!… Read Full Review

“very bad company”

Written on: 06/01/2014 by garydcruz (1 review written)

I had insurance with the co-op and as soon as I had an accident (not my fault) they wanted to cancel my policy. I have never heard of this before after 10 years of driving. I complained and all I got was rude members of staff giving me wrong advice. so I do what im advised, to try and keep my policy and then they say it is not what they wanted. they are terrible policy was cancelled will never use them again… Read Full Review

May got policy for myself and second driver my son 18 years. Black box installed in the car. August son got pulled by police no insurance. Son showed police policy they thought it was fake. Contacted co-op by pc they informed him policy was cancelled 3 days ago. Police pounded the car. Paid nearly £200. Policy costed me 2385. My son was shocked and has been depressed since this. Contacted co-op they said they wrote to me and have refunded 1538. Checked my credit card statement they made refund… Read Full Review

I am also having problems with the co-op car insurance tried to tax car online it said I had no valid car insurance so couldn't tax car had to go to the post office as I did have a certificate like you, they never sent me a renewal letter when my policy ran out, so I phoned them, they said it had been posted to me but I never received anything, they then gave me a brand new quote over the phone which I thought was strange at the time why couldn't they just look the price up on the computer, the new quote never arrived either,
I took my insurance to another company, asked the co-op for proof of my no claims said they would post it, it never arrived, now my insurance with the new company Kwik fit are going to cancel my policy this week if don't prove my no claims, I have asked the co-op again said they will post it I asked if it could be emailed as I needed it urgently they said they don't have email facility, I am now having to take it to the ombudsman to claim money back as I have had to pay Kwik fit extra money as if I hadn't got any no claims just so I could drive my car over the Christmas period. I think the CO-OP are in trouble and running some sort of scam.

“Rubbish if you have to make a claim”

Written on: 29/10/2013

I had a minor bump in a car park which wasn't my fault. The other driver admitted liability and I had a witness in my car who verified that the other driver was at fault. The Cooperative wouldn't accept that I wasn't to blame (even though they are my insurers!). They told me it was a split liability and that I was liable for the damage to my car. Unbelievable!! They refused argue my case with the other insurer. Essentially they didn't want to do any work on my behalf. I thought they would be… Read Full Review

“Poor communication and service on making a claim”

Written on: 30/09/2013

We switched to Co-operative as our son was learning to drive at the time, and they had a Young Drivers option. They fitted our car with a smartbox and, sure enough, after a while the premiums did indeed go down. So far, so good. However, they did insist that we must have legal insurance in order for them to represent us, should we make a claim. Unfortunately, through no fault of our own (somebody reversed into our car when my husband was driving it), we did have to make a claim. Their… Read Full Review

“constant hassle”

Written on: 14/09/2013 by DavidTarver19 (1 review written)

Co-op car insurance for Young Drivers is a sick joke. I continue to get letters from the Director of Car insurance who whilst demanding more money for a policy refuses to explain what he means when referring to an increased policy price due to a "movement". Dspite writing back immediately to ask what this means and why this has resulted in a charge of £127 on a policy which started several months ago, sends a further letter telling me my policy will be cancelled with a week. Still no… Read Full Review

“No loyalty for customers”

Written on: 29/08/2013 by NikeMike (1 review written)

I have insured 2 cars with Co-op for over 10 years and now hitting the big 60 thought my premiums would be more reasonable. The premium came in at £490 a jump of over £150 - I went on to confused.com and could get from £320 (remember these cheap companies get you in and renewals will be a big increase so you are forever searching every renewal) but then I read a Which report on Insurance Companies customer satisfaction and some of these cheaper companies were way down the list with the top… Read Full Review

Written on: 27/08/2013 by erzenmyne (1 review written)

maybe its only people who have something to get off their chests that write reveiws (hence all the bad ones),i have been with the coop for 3 years now and my premiums go down each year, unlike other companys that i have used that have tried to increase the premiums.i have phoned them on numerous occasions to change details without any problems, yes you get charged for the pleasure of doing this but most insurance companies charge a fee for this.i have only been driving for 5 years and only pay… Read Full Review

“Beware, this company likes to increase their premiums.”

Written on: 11/08/2013 by Johnnylloyd (1 review written)

They would not accept the proof of no claims I received from my previous insurer, subsequently, they increased the monthly direct debit from £70 a month to over £200 a month! Which I was disgusted by and soon after cancelled my direct debit. They then decided to be even more malicious and threatened me with bailiffs etc to receive the full amount of the premiums quoting the consumer credit act 1974 which luckily I was yet to sign. Lucky escape. So this is just a warning for those who are… Read Full Review

“Beware, do not trust this company”

Written on: 04/08/2013 by Royalbee (2 reviews written)

Competitive price OK to begin with, after a very minor incident they showed how ruthless and nasty they really are! The incident which was not my fault , an apology from the other driver followed, all very friendly, reported the incident to coop, they said get a quote for the repairs, the damage was so slight it was polished out, and so I informed coop I would not be claiming as I would would have to pay the excess. To my horror days later they informed me that they had accepted liability on my… Read Full Review

“Named Driver Discount outdated in only 12 months”

Written on: 19/07/2013 by andytriggy (1 review written)

I was a loyal customer under my mothers policy for 5 years, but at the end of this 5 years I was told that I had only built up 2 years of my own NCD. I found that it was cheaper to go with another insurer and decided to go else where. After a while of getting messed about from this other insurer, I decided to go back and get a quote from CO-OP. they offered me a big discount on my car insurance of 2 years no claims at 65% discount. after being messed about for a while I finally got it set up… Read Full Review

I was offered insurance which i then brought, only after I brought it I was THEN told of extra paper work needed, as I didn't have it to hand, I cancelled the policy straight away. Trying to get my money back is a nightmare! They won't refund my money, i will now be seeking via a solicitor to get it back now. i arrange everything for my wife, always have done, she is now 53 and deaf/hard of hearing, so can not use the phone, i took out the insurance for her no problem, but when it came time to renew they wouldn't speak to me, no has to be policy holder, i say, but she can't use the phone, i just want to renew, they said no, i said usually you ask me a question, she is standing here, i will let her answer in person, this is always accepted by every organization i have ever dealt with, dvla, bills… Read Full Review

“Complete Rip Off !!!”

Written on: 03/07/2013 by hendryr (1 review written)

Prior to setting up policy I rang to find out what I needed to do to claim no claims discount as I have had a company car for 20 years!! " No problem" I was told " all you need is a letter from your companies insurance company stating that you have not had any claims ". Great I thought, so I went ahead with the policy at just over £100 a month for a crappy old £300 car.. 1 month later I get a letter telling me that my monthly payment has gone up to £326 per month !!!! What !!! Basically… Read Full Review
