I started the LL diet back 2 months ago and so far I have lost 5 and a half stone. I have experienced NO sickness or health problems. I dont feel hungry at all. I only have the vanilla milk shakes but this is fine and keeps me fulfilled. Yes it is hard to drink so much water and go without food when everyone else is eating but what type of diet is not hard??? At nearly 38 stone this was my last chance do or die and I couldnt be happier at what i have acheived so far, finally there is light at… Read Full Review

I have been on the Lighter Life Total programme now since 2 August 2011 and to date (24 October 2011) I have lost dead-on 3 stones (I am due to be weighed again tomorrow evening so I will have lost more). Health Benefits: At the beginning of the programme my BMI was 39.9 it's now down to 31.5 - this is a massive health benefit, particularly as I have high blood pressure (it's nowhere near as high anymore and my GP has even said I may find I have to stop taking the BP medication). I have… Read Full Review

I have to post this anonymously as I used to be a LL Counsellor. Dont do it! I did the diet myself and lost 3.5 stone. I put it all back on and then some! It IS doable in the weight loss phase, and the idea of the counselling is logically sound - but it just doesnt work! I had only a handful of clients who kept the weight off and they didnt have issues to start with. My body is now so messed up its untrue. I had to have surgery to remove my gallbladder - there is a fair chance that this… Read Full Review

I have been on lighter life now for 3 weeks and so far lost 1.5 stone I was 19 stone to start with. The shakes are nice, the soups are okay too and out oof the bard cranberry is lovely. The first week was tough I had Bar-B-Q's it was my birthday and my wife's but I stuck to it and my will power is rubbish when it comes to food. But for me the ketosis is what stops me from cheating, it takes 3 days to enter ketosis and for the sake of eating one meal it's not worth it. After the 1st week… Read Full Review

Like any diet this only works if you commit to it, and you have no more chance of putting the weight back on than you do with any other diet. If you achieve your target weight and then go back to eating as you did before, then yes, you will put the weight back on. But that is why the group sessions and route to management are so important, and you must have a LL counsellor who is supportive and informed. I've lost 10 1/2 stones in 9 months and I've struggled at times, but overall I would… Read Full Review

I have been with the LL program for over 5 years and I lost 3stones on the first attempt, and now I am 'locked in', once I am off the packs, I cannot control my weight and put it back on again. Until recently I assisted the LL counsellor, but I was noticing more and more clients returning having put the weight back on, of course myself included. I have become disillusioned with the whole thing. Yes its does work, you get a quick weight loss, but I feel it is unsustainable when you return to… Read Full Review

As a Personal Trainer with qualifications in nutrition too, this is a very damaging way to lose weight! As it can ruin your body in many ways. It maybe a quick fix but is it really worth it? What are you going to do? stay on it for the rest of your life? (which will probably be cut short because of it!!!) When you do come off it, most of the time people haven't learnt to change their eating habits and just revert back to how they ate before going on lighter life/ lesser life! and the majority… Read Full Review

I am about to start the LL programe on Saturday. I have found the information that all have written here very useful. I have met the LL leaders & they are all really helpful and friendly. Cant wait to start the group.I do have concerns over the reviews that talk about sickness etc. I want to have a kick start and the diet is recommended only for 16 weeks. I have read lots of information from the websites which has been really useful and decided to give it a go. You have to go to see your… Read Full Review

I started LighterLife in January 2009 and lost 3 stone in three months although it was a struggle, by October I had lost a further stone in total I went from 14st to 10st, however I have now become totally obssessed by food I think about it all the time, eat all the wrong things and am back up to 13st. To be fair LL have been very supportive and I know a lot of people who have maintained their weight loss, equally I know plenty who haven't.
I am now at a stage where I am very disappointed with… Read Full Review

Having lost five and a half stone in six months on LL I can only praise this diet. Yes it is extreem and expensive but it works. Having tried all other manner of diets I needed a swift result to keep me motivated. I am now able to manage my weight and make sensible food choices. I thought I had arthritis in my knees... Just fat knees and too much weight being carried through them. For all those who say they have health problems with this diet there will be many for whom it has been a godsend… Read Full Review

I have lost 5 stones on LL since October 2011 and have not looked back. I feel better than I have ever done and have no regrets. If you are considering this diet but have concerns just speak to your local LL counsellor who will support you all along the way. There are some downsides ie, you cant really have a social life whilst doing the diet however it is a temporary phase which will change the rest of your life.
For those who are worried about the cost - I planned to put this on my credit… Read Full Review

My mum did this diet a couple years ago, she lost about 3 stone but has since put it all back on.. She has had dry skin and hair ever since, more importantly it ruined her memory. She struggles to remember simple things and after reading more into it I've discovered this is common since you're starving you body and it can do irreversible damage on your internal organs. The only healthy way to lose weight is healthy eating and exercise. Don't do this diet. Also one of the founders is obese… Read Full Review

I lost three stone on lighterlife and found it to be the best diet I have ever tried. Yes, abstainance is tough - but only for a short while, then it gets easier, much easier than counting points, weighing food, balancing carb and protein or boiling cabbage! I had done them all over 10 years and steadily gained weight. Although my weight still creeps up (I love food!) I am aware of my issues and a few weeks back on the Lighterlife light or maintenance and I am back on the rails again… Read Full Review

Lighter life? It`s only about the money, there is no interest in you as an individual, only the insistence of paying for a whole week when you don`t need it. No flexability or understanding if you struggle, no individual support, just an insistence on "sharing" your journey with others with ludicrous rules about what you can and cannot discuss(whilst the counsellor appeared to be immune from this rule). Added to this a counsellor who is on her own ego trip, (enjoy the fancy premises (Mid… Read Full Review

Seriously consider the long term impact of the Lighterlife diet.. You lose weight on this diet because you stop eating. So yes, it does what it says -you lose weight, but you also lose nutrients which can have an impact that lasts for years. I was on it for 3.5 months and and came off it immediately after my doctor took a blood test and saw alarming results.
The cognative therapy is the only positive thing - it makes you look differently at food. Starving yourself is not safe (no matter what… Read Full Review

I am looking into starting this "diet" but I am concerned about how strict it is. I have 3 stone max to loose for my wedding in August and from reading the reviews people have posted it sounds like this is achievable from lighter life. My only concern is that I have about 3 occassions in Febuary when I was looking to start that would involve me having to come off the diet for an evening at a time. Would this cause a massive problem?
I have my initial introduction meeting on Saturday but… Read Full Review

I now totally recognise why I was fat and why if I am fat in the future it will be my choice. What a wake up call. I lost 5 stone innitially but feel better putting on 7llbs that was 2 years ago. I love that you get results so quickly, of course when you come off the plan the hard work starts but believe me nothing tastes better than being able to walk into a shop and buy a size 12 and know its going to fit. I still go back for a boost every now and again and will continue to do so for ever… Read Full Review

Lighter life was the best thing I ever did! I lost 3 stone in 8 weeks to reach my target weight, then went on to lose another stone without really dieting, so I lost a total of nearly 4 stone. That was just over three years ago and I've put on about 7lb but I'm still below my target weight. I don't actually diet, but do things like have only two biscuits instead of 6 or 7. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight.
Lighter Life is the best!… Read Full Review
