Having lost five and a half stone in six months on LL I can only praise this diet. Yes it is extreem and expensive but it works. Having tried all other manner of diets I needed a swift result to keep me motivated. I am now able to manage my weight and make sensible food choices. I thought I had arthritis in my knees... Just fat knees and too much weight being carried through them. For all those who say they have health problems with this diet there will be many for whom it has been a... (read more)

I have lost 5 stones on LL since October 2011 and have not looked back. I feel better than I have ever done and have no regrets. If you are considering this diet but have concerns just speak to your local LL counsellor who will support you all along the way. There are some downsides ie, you cant really have a social life whilst doing the diet however it is a temporary phase which will change the rest of your life.
For those who are worried about the cost - I planned to put this on my credit... (read more)

My mum did this diet a couple years ago, she lost about 3 stone but has since put it all back on.. She has had dry skin and hair ever since, more importantly it ruined her memory. She struggles to remember simple things and after reading more into it I've discovered this is common since you're starving you body and it can do irreversible damage on your internal organs. The only healthy way to lose weight is healthy eating and exercise. Don't do this diet. Also one of the founders is obese,... (read more)

I lost three stone on lighterlife and found it to be the best diet I have ever tried. Yes, abstainance is tough - but only for a short while, then it gets easier, much easier than counting points, weighing food, balancing carb and protein or boiling cabbage! I had done them all over 10 years and steadily gained weight. Although my weight still creeps up (I love food!) I am aware of my issues and a few weeks back on the Lighterlife light or maintenance and I am back on the rails again. (read more)

Lighter life? It`s only about the money, there is no interest in you as an individual, only the insistence of paying for a whole week when you don`t need it. No flexability or understanding if you struggle, no individual support, just an insistence on "sharing" your journey with others with ludicrous rules about what you can and cannot discuss(whilst the counsellor appeared to be immune from this rule). Added to this a counsellor who is on her own ego trip, (enjoy the fancy premises (Mid... (read more)

Seriously consider the long term impact of the Lighterlife diet.. You lose weight on this diet because you stop eating. So yes, it does what it says -you lose weight, but you also lose nutrients which can have an impact that lasts for years. I was on it for 3.5 months and and came off it immediately after my doctor took a blood test and saw alarming results.
The cognative therapy is the only positive thing - it makes you look differently at food. Starving yourself is not safe (no matter... (read more)

I am looking into starting this "diet" but I am concerned about how strict it is. I have 3 stone max to loose for my wedding in August and from reading the reviews people have posted it sounds like this is achievable from lighter life. My only concern is that I have about 3 occassions in Febuary when I was looking to start that would involve me having to come off the diet for an evening at a time. Would this cause a massive problem?
I have my initial introduction meeting on Saturday but... (read more)

I now totally recognise why I was fat and why if I am fat in the future it will be my choice. What a wake up call. I lost 5 stone innitially but feel better putting on 7llbs that was 2 years ago. I love that you get results so quickly, of course when you come off the plan the hard work starts but believe me nothing tastes better than being able to walk into a shop and buy a size 12 and know its going to fit. I still go back for a boost every now and again and will continue to do so for... (read more)

Lighter life was the best thing I ever did! I lost 3 stone in 8 weeks to reach my target weight, then went on to lose another stone without really dieting, so I lost a total of nearly 4 stone. That was just over three years ago and I've put on about 7lb but I'm still below my target weight. I don't actually diet, but do things like have only two biscuits instead of 6 or 7. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight.

I have lost over 7 stone and have kept it off for 2 years now.....yes I still see my councilor occasionally to keep me on track....but the weight stays off. This is the first diet that has truly worked for me. I never once felt ill, hungry or tired during the whole time that I was on it (about 7 months). Full information was given to me prior to commencing this diet - I would unhesitatingly recommend it to other people. (read more)

I was so excited about starting the diet. I did lose weight but I became very ill on it. At first I was told it was just my body adjusting, but it got to the point I couldnt even stand for more than a min without coming out in a cold sweat and feeling like I was going to faint!! The final straw came when my fingers started seizing up, couldnt move them, then i got it in my wrists, toes and feet. Got an emergancy appointment with my doctor and had blood tests done. Was told id get my... (read more)

I started lighterlife in September 09 and took to it with no problems other than constipation, and a great thirst, so even though you are told to drink you need to as your mouth feels like blotting paper. the reason i left after losing 6 stone was the cost but as soon as i started to eat i vomited this continued with most things over the first month and all of my joints have swollen and although i suffered from osteoarthritis in my right knee all of my joints have suffered and are very... What a load of rubbish and that is me being polite, I took on this crazy diet (if you can call starving yourself a diet) over a year ago and initially the results were fab, I lost an amazing 5 stone in only a very short time, with that came terrible mood swings, sagging skin and breasts, constant hunger, smoking like a chimney, dizziness and general exhaustion! obviously I was thrilled with all the compliments so stuck at it until my lack of funds changed my direction, I then went into the... I started lighterlife total in May and finished the foundation stage (complete abstinence) after 14 weeks. I lost 3 and a half stone and felt I didn't need to lose much more so moved to the route to management group where food is slowly reintroduced to you diet. It is still possible to lose on rtm and I'm in week 7 and have lost a stone further which was an unexpected surprise.
My overall experience of the diet has been great. Of course, it is very hard not to snack on conventional food... (read more)

Hi, I just want to write a quick review on lighterlife. Anyone who is considering doing it just do it, stop thinking about it, it'll be the best thing you have ever done especially if you were like me & tried every other diet there was! My whole mind set has changed the classes were great & everyone supported each other. Once you get over the first couple of days & get into ketosis you're fine, I won't lie at times you will want to eat but when u see how quick the weight comes off you stick... (read more)

I did lighter life thre years ago and lost 4 stone in thre months. I didnt use it as a short term fix and kept the weight off for a year. If you go back to eating like a 16 stone person you will be a sixteen stone person. thats not the diets fault - its yours.
I am now back on it after having a baby a year ago and no being able to shift the weight. I am in my first week and doing ok.
We all have to take responsibility for our own lives... some people have such issues around food that I... (read more)

Lighter Life - I lost 8 stone in less than six months on this diet. I found it easy to follow because the weight loss was so consistent. I also did a lot of gentle exercise while doing the diet and have kept this up since. After stopping I have put back on some weight (about 3/4 stone over nine months) but was comfort eating due to personal difficulties not connected with the diet. I have (largely) resolved these and am losing weight via the standard modification of diet and exercise... (read more)
