“Good while it lasts!”

Written on: 05/04/2012

I did LL 3 years ago and I loved it. I did the initial recommended weeks, then some more and the maintenance weeks. I lost 6 1/2 stone and felt wonderful couldn't praise the diet enough. I started to regain weight the following year, slowly at first and very soon it was going on in leaps and bounds. Now 3 years later I have joined Weight Watchers and I am a stone heavier than I was when I started LL and to top that I have just been diagnosed with Gallstones… Read Full Review

i' am sorry to hear, its souds a little bit likemy storey when it comes to putting it back on. But to be honest, i did not change my eating habits. This is the battle that you have to over come. im trying a combination of milk shake diet and lowcarbs food for now. I want to keep it off this time so I am exploring different foods. Good luck.

“Told I was too fat to go on the lighter life lite...”

Written on: 20/03/2012

I had a baby 1 year ago through IVF which included me being on steriods for 4 months. 1 year on and I haven't lost the weight I would like & as I'm keen to do another round of IVF i want to lose around 2 stone over the next 3 months. I didn't want to do the full on LL programe as I had read some negative reviews and want to be as healthy as possible going into IVF. I also have to entertain clients at lunch time and knew that total abstinence of food couldn't work (my issue is evening meal… Read Full Review

That is awful. Noone should be made to feel that way!! I don't blame you for never going back. One thing i thought of though......why does Pauline Quirk advertise Lighter life lite....there is no way she would of had a BMI of 30 is there. Good luck with the weight loss and all the luck in the world with conceiving again xx

Pauline Quirke was sponsored by LL and they paid for all her food packs. She must be really careful now to keep the weight off or she will be right back where she started.

“Don't do it ”

Written on: 18/03/2012

I started LL at 11st 7lbs and in the 8 week programme got to 9st 5lbs so I was very happy then I went back to eating normal food, before I knew it I was 12stone! It's like it happened overnight I didn't even realise! Now I've lost a bit of the weight again by exercise & healthy eating, but because I lost and put on the weight do quick, I have stretch marks all over my tummy thighs & arms! I spent so much money on this diet and regret it so much, I was always tired and never felt up to doing… Read Full Review

“I am doing it and it works....”

Written on: 12/03/2012

I started lighter life 5 months ago today and have lost 4 stone. It is hard work to start with, but I can honestly say that I am not hungry and I am feeling extremely well. My doctor recommended this diet after years of struggling with my weight. I regularly get checked out by my doctor and I have had no problems i.e no hair loss, no illness (actually not had a sniffle since starting). The only problem I have had is bad breath - which is controllable. The weekly counselling sessions make… Read Full Review

“Do not do this diet!”

Written on: 03/03/2012

I lost 6 stone on this diet in 6 months! Wow that's impressive isn't it ? Well let me tell you that I have now gained all of the weight plus another stone. I am waiting to have my gall bladder removed as a direct result of this diet ( they do not tell you about this when you join). Also on completion of the diet I lost a lot of hair which has never grown back. My counsellor was ever so interested in me when I was paying the full amount each week but when when I reached goal and my weekly… Read Full Review

They cannot cope with someone who wants support?! This sort of drama-queen statement is what makes your review less than trustworthy. Yes, you do seem like a woman who is blaming others for her unhappiness, unfortunately.

It seems that for those who went back to a dreadful diet and unsurprisingly put on their weight again are the ones who say LL is rubbish...and id be interested in your medically verified evidence that LL caused your gall stone..

“Big Mistake”

Written on: 12/02/2012

5 years ago I had an injury which resulted in me giving up a very active life and job. Weight piled on and I went from 9st to over 13stones in 4 years, I am only 5ft 1" so as you can imagine I was fat and my BMI showed that I was dangerously obese. Last year I decided to try LL to get back to my normal weight in time for my husband coming home from a 6 month secondment in Asia. It started well in spite of the fact that I didnt like the Weight Management Counsellor or the meals! I persevered and… Read Full Review

Written on: 08/02/2012 by Daveyboy1602 (1 review written)

Just tried Lighter Life and had to come off it after 5 days, it made me feel so ill, i had headaches, was freezing cold and had kidney pains. Its a very big ask expecting people to survive on 500 cals a day, the food packs arent great, the shakes amd bars are nice, but the main meals are disgusting and the people that are on it who say the meals are tasty probably think they are tasty as its all they can eat, it is essentially starvation as you cant eat a thing except the 4 food packs a day… Read Full Review

No. You only put the weight on if you go back to the same habits. You cannot expect to repeat the same behaviours and expect a different outcome. I lst 5 stone and kept it all off for 3 years. When I let myself slip, stopped exercising and ate lie a pig I put on a stone. That's not lighter life's fault, it's mine. Simple.

“lighter life is a farce”

Written on: 27/01/2012

Keep away. Following a sensible diet plan will be much more beneficial. Ketosis is an absolute farce and the counselling sessions are feeding you on your own guilt and food issues. People are losing weight as i did, but as soon as you eat solids and not shakes your body stores it and is relentless in letting go. I was very ill on LL and many of the people in my class noticed that they were as well. Avoid, see a dietician and put your will power to use and follow a sensible and healthy… Read Full Review

“Helped me immensely in losing weight ”

I've been on the Lighter Life program for 2 and a half months now and I have lost 3 stones. I was skeptical of the program but barring the first week (which by the way was very tough) the following weeks have been less stressfull and easier because I have now got a hang of things. I never had any kind of medical issues but bad life style and binge eating were the reason for my weight gain. However LL program has made me realize where I was going wrong and guided me on the right path. A big… Read Full Review

“Lighter Life Total Programme”

I have been on the Lighter Life Total programme now since 2 August 2011 and to date (24 October 2011) I have lost dead-on 3 stones (I am due to be weighed again tomorrow evening so I will have lost more). Health Benefits: At the beginning of the programme my BMI was 39.9 it's now down to 31.5 - this is a massive health benefit, particularly as I have high blood pressure (it's nowhere near as high anymore and my GP has even said I may find I have to stop taking the BP medication). “Lighterlife - dont do it!”

Written on: 10/09/2011

I have to post this anonymously as I used to be a LL Counsellor. Dont do it! I did the diet myself and lost 3.5 stone. I put it all back on and then some! It IS doable in the weight loss phase, and the idea of the counselling is logically sound - but it just doesnt work! I had only a handful of clients who kept the weight off and they didnt have issues to start with. My body is now so messed up its untrue. I had to have surgery to remove my gallbladder - there is a fair chance that this… Read Full Review

Its everybodies individual choice and what works for some may not work for others. So basically if it is not your cup of tea then that does not mean its not for everybody. Personally I feel it is the easiest and the most doable eating plan I have done so far. If you go back to the way you were eating before your weight loss of course you are going to regain the weight thats not rocket science. As for being sucked in - all diets out there today are doing their level best to compete with each other - Its the individuals choice which way they want to go. I can personally recommend it to anybody who has weight to lose. I have never felt this good in a long time and it is all down to doing lighter life

to the guest who has lost 9 stone...congrats but goodluck keeping it off. Im am an ex LL follower and lost 4 stone myself (thats what happens when you only have 500 calories a day and milkshakes....when back on solids it all goes back on and your body stores it cos you starved it for so long. Now I am following a sensible diet plan eating solids and the weight is coming off. I have never felt so sick when i was on lighter life. You are losing weight and it gives you a boost but take off the sunglasses and hopefully you will see it for what it is...just another farce.

Oh dear. An ex-LL counsellor with a huge chip on their shoulder! So you say it works - as you say you lose the weight. But then you say it doesnt work - as only a few keep it off. So just like any other diet then if you go back to your old habits! Then you criticise rapid weight loss - but go on to suggest doing the Cambridge Diet instead! How stupid do you think people are? I hope you are doing very well as a Cambridge Diet counsellor now. Your review is so full of contradictions and utterly rubbish. And you want people not to do it cos the counsellors don't make enough money out of it - i.e. YOU failed to make enough money out of it as clearly you deserve to have done given your attitude. Your review is an embarrasing joke.

I have been on lighter life now for 3 weeks and so far lost 1.5 stone I was 19 stone to start with. The shakes are nice, the soups are okay too and out oof the bard cranberry is lovely. The first week was tough I had Bar-B-Q's it was my birthday and my wife's but I stuck to it and my will power is rubbish when it comes to food. But for me the ketosis is what stops me from cheating, it takes 3 days to enter ketosis and for the sake of eating one meal it's not worth it. After the 1st week… Read Full Review

“LL works if you want it to”

Written on: 06/08/2011

Like any diet this only works if you commit to it, and you have no more chance of putting the weight back on than you do with any other diet. If you achieve your target weight and then go back to eating as you did before, then yes, you will put the weight back on. But that is why the group sessions and route to management are so important, and you must have a LL counsellor who is supportive and informed. I've lost 10 1/2 stones in 9 months and I've struggled at times, but overall I would… Read Full Review

“Lost my belief”

Written on: 08/07/2011

I have been with the LL program for over 5 years and I lost 3stones on the first attempt, and now I am 'locked in', once I am off the packs, I cannot control my weight and put it back on again. Until recently I assisted the LL counsellor, but I was noticing more and more clients returning having put the weight back on, of course myself included. I have become disillusioned with the whole thing. Yes its does work, you get a quick weight loss, but I feel it is unsustainable when you return to… Read Full Review

“Don't do it”

Written on: 02/07/2011 by Jane1 (1 review written)

As a Personal Trainer with qualifications in nutrition too, this is a very damaging way to lose weight! As it can ruin your body in many ways. It maybe a quick fix but is it really worth it? What are you going to do? stay on it for the rest of your life? (which will probably be cut short because of it!!!) When you do come off it, most of the time people haven't learnt to change their eating habits and just revert back to how they ate before going on lighter life/ lesser life! and the majority… Read Full Review

That's easier said than done. I work as a hairdresser with my own salon I don't have time to excercise all the time and sometimes I miss my lunch because I'm too busy then I'm hungry at 4pm so I eat the first thing I see! I cook healthy meals but that's not enough. I am thinking of doing lighterlife because I am depressed about my weight and I'm afraid my insecurities willbe an issue in my marriage. Is'nt it better to get the weight off first and then concentrate to keep it off

A diet is what is needed if you have large amounts of fat to shift, and you must have to put in your body less than it needs to do this. The diet works if you learn to take in what your body needs the rest of the time when off the diet. Unfortunately you can educate people on how to do this, but it is then up to the individual to follow the lifestyle. The diet is not the problem , as it obviously works it is the sesibilities of the person to change their lifestyle. Of course you will put the weight on and more if you go back to your old ways, and I don't believe that the diet has caused even more weight to be put on, it is just that when you get fat you tend to just carry on eating more and more and get fatter and fatter!!!!
