This is good to handle. Now one problem arises that the incoming facilities in this set(Samsung R220) is not available, but no problem in outgoing calls. In case of incoming call when someone dialled the no TEN times he get the success in one time i.e. occasionally I receive someone's call.IS IT Software problem ? or other problem? What shall I do now.
NB. Not only I faces that kind of problem but also there are so many people who suffer the same thing. I have BSNL sim card.

The network chip in the Samsung SGH-R220 mobile phone seems to have a problem. The signal strength indicator shows no/low signal strength at times, even if the signal strength is high/very high in that location. This causes distortion in voice.

Well this Samsung SGH-R220 mobile phone is quite cool on the surface but man ...when it comes down to functionality, the damned needs deliverance. I mean I can't get a decent ringtone because 1;none came with the phone 2;the composer is a nightmare.

The Samsung R220 is different in taste and style. Maybe i'm a little out of date if people disagree :). Being my third phone i must say it is cool. The functions and the LED lighting indicating whom the person is cool. The reception is nice and is capable of getting the message through easily (like most phones). The screen savers are cool, but some of them you don't even want to touch. The problem with the phone is that it is not as user-friendly as the Nokia series, since I have tried most of them from various friends. The buttons aren't as smooth as Nokia and when my phone rings the vibration doesn't go on, even when it is on nor the alarm when my phone is completely shut off (This maybe due to a defected phone that i have but i don't really know yet). The Blue light is very strong and is capable of being used when your in a black-out situation.
In conclusion, the Samsung R220 is a phone for those that are in between fashion and are looking for a reasonable and cheap phone, even though colour screen is out.

Both my room mate and I have this phone and we both experience trouble with it. While I love all the features that go with it, it goes dead often for no reason. You can literally watch the reception bar go up and down while you are standing still. Not sure if it is an antenna problem or just poorly built.

I don't know if my phone is just a dud, but I've had endless problems. The phone switches itself off, often calls go staight to voicemail when I know there is no network problem and callers complain of a crackling noise in the background and they cannot hear me at all. The phone has a non-existent battery life and the ring-vibrate just vibrates. I bought the phone six months ago after my Ericsson T29 was stolen under rather unpleasant circumstances. I have constantly regretted my decision.

It is money well spent. I've had my samsung sgh-r200s for at least a year. It is still fine I think I will stick to this for a while. I am glad I bought it because it has a very good battery life and it hasn't given me any trouble since. But the ony bad point is I can't find anywhere to get decent ringtones for my melody composer. Email me if anyone has any problems about the samsung sgh-r200s and I will try to help. Thankz mat.

Overall a very good phone value for money but samsung needs to address the other issues

Let's face it.....compared to the Nokia 3315, this Samsung SGH-R220 phone sucks. I had a Nokia 5110i before I bought this one; the only minus point about that model is its weight. No other complaints at all. Delivers all that it promises. This model was released in India with a very catchy advertisement. But it looks to be a hastily designed model, made to order for the gullible Indian public.

Actually when selected Vibra+Melody this phone vibrates 3 times then melody starts.
Written on: 26/04/2003
Yes. Exactly correct. Vibra + Melody mode just giving the vibration instead of giving both.

This Samsung SGH-R220 mobile phone is trendy and cool. It's light and has an amazingly long battery life. Samsung does need to work on a few features but overall i feel proud being an owner of a Samsung R220.

I have been using this handset ( model R220 ) since last 3 years. It doesn't look great at all, looks quite cheap too. I am facing the same problem since last 1 month intermittently. My friends complain that they are unable to reach me.. when they dial my no. They get either of these messages: 1. Mobile phone is switched off 2. The subscriber is out of reach. When I'm actually very much in the city. I have tried it out myself by calling my mobile no. from a landline and couldn't reach my mobile no. despite being very much in the heart of the city. The mobile also showed EXCELLENT SIGNAL STRENGTH. But there is no problem with outgoing calls. Upon calling the tech support they suggested my to restore the factory setting.
