John Lewis claim to have the best customer service but I have only had the worst experience with them. I bought a coffee maker for Christmas for my friend which ended up being faulty. My friends called them up to arrange a pick up to get another machine, but these idiots came to my house instead of my friends'... despite very clear instructions NOT to come to my house. I bought a 42" Panasonic HD TV from them and it was delivered the next day. They were the only shop to offer a 5 year guarantee.
I also bought a sony electric toothbrush on the 6 December last year, but unfortunately it broke down on the 27 January. I sent a mail to the service department asking them for a refund and I got a reply the next day to say that my refund had been sent to my bank. I did not even have to sent the faulty goods back.

I have been a loyal John Lewis customer for many years but my last two orderd from their website have been an absolute nightmare. My first order was a bedside table to be delivered to my house. After two weeks i called John Lewis to enquire about the delivery and they told me they had tried to deliver the day before at 7pm however no one was in so they left a card - total lie. I really like using the John Lewis website. It is easy to navigate and the search works well. I bought Christmas gifts for friends and family, finding something for 5 people. Checkout was easy. Goods were delivered on time. No complaints. I later wanted to buy an extra gift set from there. Brilliant TV exceptional colours although could do with an on screen Equalizer to fine tune the sound which is a bit too speech orientated for me. John Lewis though were fantastic giving me £155 off on the list price due to a price match of an online Shop.
Delivery was quoted as 7am-2pm on Jan 7 and it arrived at 11am that very day on a John Lewis truck. Price match request took a few days to approve although it was sent on 31 Dec 2010 so there was a bit of delay for New Years holiday. But… Read Full Review

Extremely good value compared to competitors. Items in the package were deliverd on time. Package price dropped to £1599 just after I had purchased it and johnlewis.com honoured their "Never knowingly undersold" price promise and refunded my £200 very promptly. I returned an item to John Lewis online and my card wasn't credited. When I phoned to enquire why I was told they had no record of receiving it however, it can take up to 3 weeks from them receiving it to it being scanned into the system! In a large order with johnlewis.com totalling about £3,000 this bed was included. I signed for all the boxes on the delivery note. A fridge Freezer was part of the same order, which took almost 2 months to arrive meaning that we could not move into our house. Once the fridge was delivered we discovered that a package for the bed was missing and cannot be build. We are so far told that it will be 3 weeks until the bed slats can be deliverd! on the website delivery is stated as 2 weeks. After checkout that changes to 4weeks. So we sat on our hands and waited patiently. After four weeks and no contact we contacted customer services. It took four further phone call for anyone to take any notice and a further three weeks for delivery. This was very very poor service. The fridge was only one ofseveral items on the order. There were problems with two other items one of which is still not yet resolved.

Website was easy to use and find the products I was looking for. Ordered a duvet set and a fold down washing line. Both were well priced compared to other sites. Even better was the fact that it was free delivery.

i ordered 4 T shirts to have them ebroided with a log for work. John Lewis delivred the wrong ones but they went straight to be enroidered. when discovered to be worng JL want tnothing to do with it. i realise this is a bit exceptional but the dissappointing thing is that JL have just washed their hands of me with no solutions which is not how they sell themselves.

I didn't find John Lewis online at all good. I ordered a £1,200 Sony laptop in December and waited in all day for its delivery but when I phoned JL I was told that it had been lost and my account credited. I was furious and asked why on earth nobody had contacted me or sent another one. It took hours and many calls before I managed to secure another laptop.

Website said certain goods were "in stock" and there were more than 10 of them, and could be delivered within 14 days. Then got one email to say each item would come from the manufacturers directly, not from john lewis at all, and that the manufacturers would contact me about delivery within 2-3 weeks. Email also said money would be taken when items were dispatched.

The online delivery to a store is useful, quick and reliable. The returns procedure is inconvient and slow. First you have to send an email saying why you want to return the item then wait...up to a day...to receive a number that you write in the parcel. Next you send back through the post office..ok...JL dont tell you they have received your parcel back and I am still waiting for the money to go back into my account 2 weeks later.
