Richer Sounds Liverpool store which is a large competitor of John Lewis,in selling television advertised a Samsung LED TV for less than that advertised by JL. I naturally went on the JL website to discover their Price Match Form which was duly completed and returned. Tried to get a nexus 7 tablet . Stock levels have been low with just a few available intermittently. I managed to complete an order yesterday and had an order number with delivery to my local Waitrose next day for collection. Today get a call saying sorry we dont actually have any stock for delivery to your local store and cant tell when stock will be available. Poor indeed. John Lewis - they aren't perfect, but they make you feel safe and at almost at home. Surprisingly often the price isn't on the product. Ie most of the time. They also aren't great at explaining the product and amazingly some things of their own label that you can find in the shop aren't available on line… Read Full Review

Ive only ever ordered small items from john lewis, such as towels, candles, kitchen utensils, etc. They have always arrived extremely quickly, usually within 2 working days. As others, I used to believe that John Lewis provided superior customer service - that no longer appears to be the case. Having ordered a cooker and a fridge (a basic order I thought) they have continually failed to organise delivery, installation etc etc. I have had to manage the entire process, with them repeatedly turning up unannounced and wondering why nobody is in. I have shopped with John Lewis for years because I trusted them to give good customer service. JL wins awards all the time for customer service, this year (2011) included. In 2008 I bought a Hotpoint Condenser Dryer which came with the usual JL 2 year guarantee. That guarantee expired some 11 months ago. Two weeks ago, the Dryer refused to start the programme. Our 37" panasonic plasma tv developed a fault more than 3 years after purchase. Had to use John Lewis's 5 year guarantee which involved an independent inspection of the set confirming it was beyond economical repair. Bought it and exchanged for quality issues. Pearls were not as good as claimed by Dower & Hall but price is as expensive as quality one. I understand this is not entirely John Lewis' issues but John Lewis is selling Dower & Hall with its reputation.

John Lewis claim to have the best customer service but I have only had the worst experience with them. I bought a coffee maker for Christmas for my friend which ended up being faulty. My friends called them up to arrange a pick up to get another machine, but these idiots came to my house instead of my friends'... despite very clear instructions NOT to come to my house. I bought a 42" Panasonic HD TV from them and it was delivered the next day. They were the only shop to offer a 5 year guarantee.
I also bought a sony electric toothbrush on the 6 December last year, but unfortunately it broke down on the 27 January. I sent a mail to the service department asking them for a refund and I got a reply the next day to say that my refund had been sent to my bank. I did not even have to sent the faulty goods back.

I have been a loyal John Lewis customer for many years but my last two orderd from their website have been an absolute nightmare. My first order was a bedside table to be delivered to my house. After two weeks i called John Lewis to enquire about the delivery and they told me they had tried to deliver the day before at 7pm however no one was in so they left a card - total lie. I really like using the John Lewis website. It is easy to navigate and the search works well. I bought Christmas gifts for friends and family, finding something for 5 people. Checkout was easy. Goods were delivered on time. No complaints. I later wanted to buy an extra gift set from there. Brilliant TV exceptional colours although could do with an on screen Equalizer to fine tune the sound which is a bit too speech orientated for me. John Lewis though were fantastic giving me £155 off on the list price due to a price match of an online Shop.
Delivery was quoted as 7am-2pm on Jan 7 and it arrived at 11am that very day on a John Lewis truck. Price match request took a few days to approve although it was sent on 31 Dec 2010 so there was a bit of delay for New Years holiday. But… Read Full Review
