“12 weeks after order - no Delivery”

I ordered a bed and a mattress mid July. Here we are first week of October - 12 weeks later - I have had a call to cancel my scheduled delivery for tomorrow. This was the third attempt at delivery. Always an excuse - "Bed not ready", "Mattress not ready". Tired of the bad service. Have just cancelled my order and put an order in at Dreams - they were able to tell me the lead time for each bed frame and mattress so that I could decide which I wanted to order.

“Avoid Bensons memory mattresses.”

Avoid Bensons memory mattresses. I bought a Bensons Easi-pocket memory mattress 1050 in 2017. We live overseas at least half of the year so it had no more than 3.5 years actual usage. It was comfortable whilst it lasted but it has now literally disintegrated. Whilst mattresses obviously do not last forever, this amount of usage is not exactly impressive - clearly the manufacturing quality is poor. A letter of complaint to Bensons went nowhere, with them pointing out they only guarantee for one year. On this basis, our next mattress will be purchased elsewhere.

“Avoid this company ”

Appalling service. Failed delivery twice. First time driver was out of hours because given too many drops. Driver's mate even laughed down the phone whilst telling me i won't have my bed. Second time the bed stand had not been loaded on the van. On further investigation this isn't even currently in stock. How has this not been noticed and rectified? Both times I was assured on the phone that my items were on the van and would definitely be delivered. Disgraceful incompetence. Order has been cancelled and these clowns will receive no custom from me or anybody I know

“2 single beds”

Placing the order for two single beds was easy, staff were helpful, promised a delivery date which was confirmed by text, received a further text on the 6 December 2022, received another text two days later to state there was a delay but no update with the date. Contact made with branch, apparently a manufacture issue but no further explanation, contact by email was made with head office, sent several emails and no reply, beds are desperately needed as they are for elderly parents. Spoke with someone at customer care on Saturday, 10 December who was helpful and provided assurance he would come back to me this week with an update and hopefully explanation or resolution given our circumstances, no email or text or call. Received a text to say beds will be delivered on the 30 December... seriously not happy and no explanation given. I am at a loss what to do or think and not sure if I now have faith in the company, would still like to speak with a representative from customer services. I hope they pick up this email and reply.

“Delivery team are animals ”

The salesperson in keighley was amazing. I should of been wary of bensons for beds, when the store spent nearly 2 hours getting though to there own customer services I really like my bed and mattress it’s first class It’s just a real shame the delivery drivers were animals that smashed my house up, and now not accepting liability and I’m having to occur more costs to go down the small claims route There is no customer service - wait time is an average of an hour and half, emails take a average of a month to reply Avoid at all costs - the delivery service is as shambolic as the customer service team End result lovely bed, damaged lights, stairs, painting, wall and flooring - that they said they didn’t do, even sent photos of the damage #itsunreal Before I went down the small claims route I even contacted the CEO who said his colleague would be in touch and guess what they didn’t bother

“Bad customer service ”

Basically a few years ago my son bought a new bed, and the mattress is not great at all, and after sending Benson for beds some pictures, they said that it definitely has a fault and as it is under warranty still,we can have a replacement, but the bed he has has been discontinued,so we will have to get one for the same price, but the other issue is the Benson for beds store in cribbs causeway has closed down, and the stores we could get a replacement are miles away from us, and no one can drive in our house for medical reasons, and they say that we could buy online, but because of my son's disability he needs to look and try beds , and I have asked for a refund, but all they will give me is a voucher to spend with them to buy a new one

“If I could give 0 I would!”

Wish I had never taken my mum here. The customer service is appalling. Delays for arrival of bed took 6 months+. In the end. My mum had been lied to and ended up paying out for a complete new bed again when it wasn't necessary! Paid out hundreds and the headboard had been sliced at the back, they wouldn't do anything. Long and short of it....I would never use again! My 76 ywar old mum has been tricked

“No stars would be more appropriate ”

Quite frankly no stars are deserved. Ordered a divan mid-April. Delivery date end May (6 weeks). Ok I can cope with that. However, on said delivery date no bed base available (apparently) so that wasn’t delivered. Next delivery date another 6 weeks later so now we’re up to 3 months without a bed. I didn’t complain, however. The world had a problem with deliveries. I accepted the new date of 12 July graciously, although irritated. However, no delivery came on the 12th and when I called, no it was the 19th! Well no one had told ME that! All correspondence said the 12th. And if I cancelled, that it would be another 6 weeks to wait, (can Bensons only work in sixes?) so that would have been four months from the order date. Customer services were unprepared to do anything to help. I had to accept the 19th July or wait till August. I have to book time off work six weeks in advance and I couldn’t get the 19th off. So now having to get a friend to have a day off work to accept the delivery for me. Customer services (not the individual-she was just tied to an appalling organisation’s policies) couldn’t have cared less, and there is ‘ just nothing we can do’. As long as I live I will never shop there again. Totally hopeless organisation who have no concept of good customer services.

“Bought a simba hybrid mattress from them for over...”

Bought a simba hybrid mattress from them for over £600 less than 2 years later it has a dent all the way down the middle (i only weigh 11 stone) so can only sleep on either edge of the mattress now. Sent them photos and everything they asked for and never got any replies at all they just kept saying we need this specific info, everytime i sent it nothing came back when chased it up exactly the same reply we need specific info i had to go into the shop twice to kick off and ask them to send it. Eventually, they got back with a forget it message. I've even gone to the home & furniture ombudsman and similar things there i have had to chase them up cant ever get through over the phone and they have said forget it. If i could upload a photo of the mattress iam certain anyone who reads this would say how can someone sleep in the middle of that and for over £600.... This message is for bensons i have already booked my appointment with citizens advice and will be sending all the details to the solicitors that i have access to through my which subscription i will also be repeating this message on every review site i can find to let people know what a bad company you are.

“Bad customer service”

Spent nearly £1500 on a mattress, protector & pillows. You can send the mattress back less 10% if you don't like it. The pillows were £70 each, laid on them once, fully covered. You can't take them back due to hygiene issues. That's exactly the same as the mattress!! Bensons, sort yourselves out, that's awful customer service. Very disappointing. Do not recommend & will not be giving them any business again.

“Worst firm ever found”

Please see my trust pilot review. Delivery promises and bookings missed for months, even with email to CEO and MD they still failed to deliver on promised date that resulted Their customer service team and customer service team running out of apologies. Would not recommend and would warn any one to use another firm.

“Bensons be ashamed ”

I paid in full for a bed had to wait 2 months for delivery was given a delivery time was that late someone stayed in all day no phone call or email total radio silence could not get answer. When the delivery finally got here no bed. I've been sleeping on the floor for three days still no response from bensons complete radio silence PayPal are involved still no response trading standards are involved still no response asked for refund still no response. No bed. No money. No response. Bensons need to go under, stay well clear disgusting.

“Terrible ”

I had a bed and headboard delivered today when opened they both were water damaged when the delivery men brought it in, they said water had got into the delivery van. I went to set it up and found there was no feet to go on it. I then tried to put the headboard on and the screws with it were too small and just fell through. I am now waiting for a new bed to be delivered in 4-6 weeks. The only reason I set it up is that I have no choice, I'd be sleeping on the floor. I originally ordered a different bed in January and cancelled in March as I kept getting delayed delivery emails.

“Do not use this company!!! ”

Absolutely shocking experience here! Bought a wardrobe just the perfect wardrobe I needed for my new house, it had everything. I paid over £700 for a double wardrobe with drawers and lots of internal space, waited around 8 weeks (didn't bother me at all) the drivers refused to deliver it, they used my bathroom and left with the wardrobe! I got told I have 14 cooling off days and to go into store for a refund. I drove 40 minutes to the store and asked for a refund. They said I needed to ring customer service, I rang them. Customer service said I had to wait around 48 hours until the wardrobe was back in their warehouse. Two days later I got a phone call from Oldham store, she was so abrupt and rude. She said she would refund me but 20% cancellation fee! I read all their policies and terms and conditions, I couldn't see this anywhere I looked. Service was well and truly pathetic and disgusting. I eventually had to get my banks fraud team involved and they ended up refunding me the full amount I paid. Not heard off Bensons for Beds since. Would definitely it recommend going here. They refuse to deliver your goods and then takeyour money after speaking speaking you disrespectfully and speaking speaking you like you're a child! What a joke of a company and service! If I spoke and trusted my customers the way they did to me, I wouldn't have a job!

“Dreadful Customer Service”

Dreadful experience. Paid ahead and waited over a month for delivery date. A truck with 2 chaps arrived and delivered the new bed, but despite reminders failed to remove the old mattress despite us paying for this service. Phoned the store, they told us someone would be back in an hour. They weren't then they told us they couldn't collect and would refund, leaving us with a mattress in the garage for a fortnight and our car parked on the road. Raised with Bensons store, then with their customer services. They weren't interested in the slightest and did nothing to fix the situation. I wouldn't support Bensons ever again.

I visited the Harlow branch of bensons for beds and My first impressions of the store were good clean and tidy, not busy with posters and special offer signage and customer friendly displays with all the relevant information on them. Whilst browsing I was greeted by a smartly dressed lady who offered her help and assistance whilst I was browsing. I wasn’t pressured and at the time I’ve said I’m fine thank you I’m just looking for some mattresses to which she asked what kind, I said I wasn’t sure what were the different types as it is for my teenage daughter she gave me information about the different types of mattresses and asked if I needed any more assistance, to this I refused as I was still looking and with that she Gave me more space and said if you need any more help please ask. I liked this as I didn’t feel pressured into buying anything or being sold a higher price item than what I didn’t need. Whilst browsing I noticed you did bedroom furniture I was also looking for wardrobes, I noticed that you had a good promotion on like your competitors but wanted some more information so requested the help of this lady. She assisted me brilliantly answered all questions I threw at at her without the blink of an eye. Because of her professionalism and product knowledge non-pushy sales technique I spent £400 on wardrobes which I was going to purchase elsewhere and £100 on a mattress. I would like it known to Bensons for beds that she is an asset to your business, I would also like to praise another sales assistant who again I found passionate and professional. An example of this was his impressive product knowledge whilst I was doing the paperwork with her I was just finishing a work call and heard the other sales assistant mention a new mattress range and say to the other lady do you know that they don’t do a super in that range, this cemented in me even more confidence on buying from Bensons! He also was smart in appearance and a friendly welcoming smile, he even offered to help carry a mattress to my car. Again thank you to them both for a brilliant experience and making parting with a large sum of money with confidence.

“Worst matress I ever slept in! ”

Orion Igel King Size Matress - As many others described before - this matress is really bad! As me and my partner both suffer from spinal health issues, we wanted to invest into something good and tried the Orion Igel Matress in Benson for Beds store. Regular price was £1400, but we were "lucky" and able to get it for "only" £1.100. The matress in store felt firm but comfortable and my back instantly relaxed. So in good hopes we bought it, with it the recommended protector and two pillows, that all should work with the temperature regulating method. When the matress arrived it was such a hassle to get it upstairs, as it has no handles and weights A TON!! First impression was comfortable, however not exactly as we remembered. After the second night we got rid of the protector, as it not only made russling sounds like sleeping on plastic foil, but also FELT like sleeping on it - we were soaking wet the next morning! We read that it needed sometimes a long time to get used to the gel and different system, so we took the chance and let the 30day return period pass - also because we could not be asked to carry that heavy monster downstairs again. I never had a good nights sleep in it and now after two years I could not stand it any longer. My backache has developed into the worst, I sleep so so bad in this matress, wake up hundreds of times a night, roll around, and in the morning, struggle to put my socks on!! Worst Backache I ever had in a bed! However the surface feels soft and comfortable at first when lay down - there is no support whatsoever. It is like sleeping in a hammock. I tried all to compensate the sacking through feeling, for the last year it only was bearable with two folded beach towels plus sofa pillow below the matress and flat pillow under my waist.. But now we decided to get rid of it! I posted a review on Benson for beds after 6 months to warn others, it never got published... i wonder why! By the looks of it - it also has been discontinued. But - i would not dare to buy any other matress from them! We just bought a £200 reflex / memory foam matress, without springs, only 20kg, simple, easy - and my back already has improved so much in only two weeks!

“Never buy from Benson for Beds.. the nightmare continues”

Ordered complete bed online for over £800 mid October ( money taken from our account straight away ) Delivery 4th December - The mattress had mould due to water damage and was returned straight away. The base appeared to be okay until we opened the outer packaging and found that the base was also damaged. We were told that this will be collected on the 2nd delivery i.e. we must re-order again. We made countless phone calls from 9am to 12pm as we did not know what to do. Different departments... total chaos. Asked for compensation but was told that this can only be discussed once the order was delivered. Okay these things happen long with the pandemic situation so we give benson for beds a second chance and had to use the sofa bed in the mean time ( 4 months ) We made it clear that we would only put in a replacement order if this future order would be damage free. - WHAT A MISTAKE TO MAKE ! Second delivery came 21st Jan 2021 - Guess what - Water Damage to be base. Refused complete 2nd delivery by us and the delivery people. Also the damaged base from the 1st delivery was collected ( the delivery people were unaware that they had to collect this as well ) Again made phone calls from 11.30am to 1.40pm. This is when "the straw broke the camels back" One of the customer services personnel said to re-order yet again ( for the 3rd time !!! ) with 4 to 5 week turn around. We then asked for compensation to which this particular person refused any compensation, point blank - the word compensation does not exist for this person ( must be company policy ). When we pushed and explained that this was discussed beginning of December, he then said that we needed proof of lost wage for the delivery dates - why did he not acknowledge this at the beginning!!! when we mentioned the countless phone calls, he then start taking the mick out of my wife - "goading" - show proof that she made the calls and had time off work to receive the deliveries and yet he could see the number of calls made on his system from my wife. This "goading" went on for 30 minutes. He also refused to pass the call to his manager. I am not saying that everyone working for benson for beds is abusive but to be verbally abused ( Goaded ) by one particular customer services rep. while over £800 of your hard earned money is with benson for beds for approx. 4 months is physically sickening esp. when we gave benson for beds another chance by reordering again. We would NEVER order from Benson for Beds ever gain. Even if it was the last bed company on the planet. If you are going to deal with Benson for Beds, we would strongly recommend that you record every conversation that you have with this company due to broken promises, half truths, and in our case to be "goaded" As far as compensation of any kind, we are resigned to the fact that we will not get anything. This nightmare which is still continuing ( still waiting for our £800+ refund ) we have lost time and money on days off work for deliveries and many many phone calls but benson for beds do not care about that - as far as they are concerned, benson for beds wants us to re-order 3rd time, 4th time, 5th time.... 99th times until they get the delivery right even if it it takes years the while benson for beds hangs on to our hard earned £800+ We are still waiting for our refund of over £800 ( the damaged bed is in the warehouse but no-one from the returns team is prepared to acknowledge this ) One professional kind customer services person who kept her promise to email/call us back said she has sent various emails to the warehouse / returns team who refuse to acknowledge her emails. Until the returns / warehouse team acknowledge the damaged bed is at the warehouse, she can not process the refund. we have had an additional email from another customer services team apologising for the damaged bed and that the refund will be issued ???? As I said the nightmare continues.....

“Bad quality and very poor service...”

Useless Gaurentee and bad quality. The guarantee is useless and quality is terrible..... The guarantee is not worth the paper it's written on. I spent £600 on a mattress that is supposed to have a 5 year guarantee. After 20months the mattress had really bad depressions in it and the company has said it falls within the manufacturer tolerance from a few photographs i have sent them. If you actualy lay on the mattres you can feel the wooden bed slats but thats within tollerance. I've been told I can get an independent inspection if I pay for it as the mattress is more than 6 months old, the onus is on me to prove it's faulty, but they will only accept a report from one of their approved inspectors, thus removing the word independent. The only reason I'm scoring 1 star is that I can't score them a zero.

We bought a mattress from Benson which we had tried instore, but after spending four nights we both are getting really bad back problems. We chose a firm mattress as I suffer with my back, but it feels worse. Can we get it exchanged to one that's a little bit softer?

I think you can exchange a bed if you're not happy with it within 90 days, but have to contact the store beforehand. Unfortunately I don't think this applies to purchase of a mattress only.

Hi I bought a bed and memory foam mattress from you about 3 years ago and the mattress has a big slit down it and has collapsed its says on your website if you buy a bed and mattress from you there is a five years guarantee, can I get a new mattress because I feel that this mattress should be like this just after 3 years?

We have had really bad service and have been lied to. No delivery, they have all my sons money and have not been in touch about when we can expect delivery. Does anyone else have similar stories? I'm worried as there seem to be a lot of bad recent bad reviews. Are they going bust?

I found them to be honest and fair and didn't have any problems with them at all. In fact they were more than helpful. I changed my mind and wanted a different bed because the one I picked was to large for the room and Benson beds went out of their way to help me. My Tempur bed frame and mattresses plus Tempur pillow was nearly £3000 and I am more than happy with it.

We spent quite a bit with them and the service was okay only problem we had the wrong handles were sent for bedside lockers and five door locket. We did have to chase them up but they finally arrived in time for the fitter to assemble everything we bought

I don't rate Bensons in the slightest. I bought a show room model bed, I asked about different colour headboard, I was told that was the only colour in the offer. When it was delivered no headboard. They told me the headboard was never in with the offer. By this time I'd got curtains and bedding to Match it. The delivery was 7hrs late. It's a terrible firm. I'm letting everyone else know about this. Customer services were no help whatsoever. Don't know what they've got one for. Bensons for Sheds.

If the delivery is late then they are in breach of contract and you’re entitled to a full refund. Do you have the due delivery date in writing? If not they may try to lie their way out of it. If you agreed to wait a bit longer then they are new terms but how long is a bit longer? Would a reasonable person say that they’re definitely late? If so insist that they have broken the contract so you want an immediate refund. They may offer you a good discount to accept a later delivery. If you agree make sure you get the new deliver date in writing. Take a witness with you and get them to record the conversation by video. If you get no joy then suing them through the small claims court is the next step. Don’t worry it’s quite easy to do and on receiving the summons they’ll probably pay up (including court fees) Good luck

Yes it must be unless it says it is an online offer only then you would need to check. I cannot see that your rights would be any different except for the additional rights under remote selling laws, but I am no expert on that.

firstly, i would never ever buy from bensons, but if you must, your rights online are covered by the distance selling regulations (DSR), which means if youre not happy with it when it arrives, you can return it. however if they know youve already viewed it in-store then that will invalidate the DSR. be careful with them though, cos staff there can be very underhand for a sale and tell you anything they want. i was told to purchase my bed over the phone giving me the same rights as DSR, but when it arrived and wasnt right in any way, they refused to accept it back cos i had seen it in-store, and the salesman who told me to buy it over the phone, denied ever telling me this. also beware that comfort levels in-store are different when you receive the new bed, it will be a lot firmer than youve tried.

Yes it should be the same. I brought a divan bed from Bensons and it was exactly what I ordered with 4 under bed drawers and headboard as the showroom model. Am very happy with my bed and had no problem with it, my order or delivery, everything went to plan. With a spring bed it was firmer than the showroom model as lots of people have laid on it in the showroom but now my bed it perfectly supportive and comfortable, especially as I followed the instructions and rotated it every week.

I would suggest you email or telephone the number shown on the website and pose your questions directly to them. My own experience of Bensons is very good and I rate them highly. Of the items I've bought I can say the quality and price is unbeatable and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
