Repair: a week ago, I dropped the Nikon Coolpix 775 digital camera from 4 feet on a semi-hard floor. Lens was jammed shut, and the display showed 'system error'. Opened the case [easy: 2 silver screws on LHS and RHS, 4 at bottom - note that 2 of the 3screws for the tripod are different- then the cas ...

This is my first digital (I also have a Canon SLR) and I have been pleasantly surprise by the quality of the photos, both on a PC screen and when developed onto photopaper. Unfortunately the camera's worst point is incredibly frustrating: it is very slow. For example, it takes a good 5 or 6 second ...

The lens froze on my Nikon Coolpix 775. The infamous "SYSTEM ERROR" This is obviously a manufacturer defect. I'm sending the camera back to Nikon with low expectations. Hopefully logic prevails.

I bought it in the USA 20 months ago and have taken over 5,000 pictures with. Invested in a 128Mb card though to keep resolution good for A4 prints. Generally happy with it but colours are not as good as other cameras and the lighting is terrible.
My next buy will be a Canon for sure!

Yip, guess what, I have had the infamous "SYSTEM ERROR" message and the lens is stuck shut. As this happend halfway though my summer vacation I am pretty upset.

Although, my camera is about 18months old now so I guess I'm lucky it lasted that long by the sounds of things. Haven't yet had an es ...

Had the infamous "SYSTEM ERROR" and lens wouldn't retract. Told by Nikon that it's a discontinued product (I am in Canada) and it don't carry parts for this model anymore. I took great care with the camera and think strongly it is manufacturing fault. I just felt I had throw away money into the sea! ...

The Nikon Coolpix 775 is a nice camera for its price, I took about 3000 pictures with it, and I am still satisfied. It is small and quite robust for its plastic cover, although it fall out of my hands for a few times, it never failed its function.

The pictures itsself are very sharp, but the colo ...

My Coolpix is 15 month old and still under warranty.
But now I have continous system errors. The lens won's move any more.

I send the camera to nikon. The said it is my fault because their were sand in the camera. They want 260 Euro for repair. At that price repair is waste of money ( a new mode ...

We've had a Nikon Coolpix 775 digital camera for nearly 8 months now and it's been really useful (we've almost taken 1000 shots!). We're generally happy with the camera, so while this review has bad points, read them in this context.
Our main gripes with it are
