Absolutely ridiculous waiting times. Why did i apply for a Debenhams credit card. Every reputable company have a good number of staff to deal with customers but these people are a complete joke. There are many other good credit card companies so stay clear of Debenhams credit card!

This is the worst credit card management company I've ever come across. I've had so many problems on this card. First some of the refunds on the card were not showing up at all and I had to call them multiple times for this they told me to contact the merchants who reassured me that I've been refunded but still nothing showing up on my card. After multiple calls to them someone finally answered after 20 mins and opened an investigation into this. Then they refunds appeared in my card but also debit amounts of the same value for no reason and now they can't figure out why that has happened. I am now on hold for 30 mins and they still can't figure anything out. I told them to give me a Calle back and was told they are only an incoming call centre so can't call me back. So now I am wasting precious work hours trying to sort this out yet again. I only got this card to collect points for Debenhams purchases but this is really not worth the hassle. So once this issue is resolved I will cancel this card. I'd recommend everyone to stay away from this card.

WOULDN'T GIVE IT A ONE STAR. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I AM GOING TO CANCEL THE CARD when i get my complaint answered. Had problems most of year with MANAGEMENT. Have asked on six occasions for a new pin for over six months. FAILED Had charges put on my account, I have for six months asking them to prove these charges and send me copies of the statements. They did not send me a copy but one person said she would credit my account with £20 for poor customer service I had received. FAILED TO DO THIS AS PROMISED. Still not resolving the problems or sending a new Pin they only credited my account with £10 not £20 for poor service and failed to send me the proof after I had been charged approx £60. Six letters and two online messages since all ignored. MY ACCOUNT WAS £2000 in credit and they FAILED to return my money on request. In the end I had to spend it to get my money back. Appalling STAY AWAY THIS COMPANY IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE AND NEEDS INVESTIGATING. Giving Debenhams a bad name Your better off with American express where you get cash back rewards wise. i give this card a star nil rating for customer service and value for money. they are a disgrace

Have never had any issues with Debenhams staff in Dundee store and have been an account holder for more than 20 years. Online ordering has always been superb and pretty much issue free. This has all changed since New Day started handling the account payments. Have never dealt with such rude unhelpful call operators before. I am no longer an account holder due to their intolerable behaviour and feel very aggrieved that all those years of being a loyal customer have been wasted. Will be re-opening my Frasers account and do all my shopping online now

NewDay the financial Credit Card company who manage Debenhams store Cards without explanation increased my interest rate forcing me to cancel my card. They advised they had a right to do this regardless of my loyalty and excellent credit rating. I wonder if Debenhams are aware of the loss of their customers due to this companies actions?

The interest rate is disgusting staff that work for new day limited are highly rude it's not customer service or lip service I'm just not happy at all I wouldn't recommend new day service for credit cards

Every month its the same .... I am sent a statement detailing what I owe. I phone the "improved 24 hour automated telephone service" only to be advised 1. My account is not recognised 2. I am "currently owing nothing", when I clearly do otherwise why would I be sent a statement!!!!!! No way around, despite patiently trying all connotations of "easy telephone service" .... So in desperation try registering on-line in order to pay. Guess what "service is currently unavailable" AAAAGGHHHH. And I wish to pay the full balance as usual. I am never 'in debt' with it. Now I am forced to either send a cheque or drive the 9 miles to nearest store to pay. Sorely tempted just to cut this stupid card up.

Paid monthly amount off my Debenham Card only to receive a text message from New Day saying I had missed a payment and was being charged a late payment fee, interest and it could affect my credit rating!. Phoned up to see what had happened only to be told to call back in a week as they couldn't explain what had happened. I asked for a call back due to the inconvenience only to be told that they don't do them. Phoned the following week for an explanation as to what has happened. Told I was in arrears which I informed them I was not as I had a payment reference number for the payment made. Was told it could be the payment advisor who did not put the payment through correctly then they tried to blame my bank? sating they could have rejected the payment?? Cancelled card and could not believe I was asked if "everything was OK with my financial situation"!! Apparently they have to ask this when a payment is missed...The irony being I didn't miss a payment. Like that is any of their business. One word....Avoid!

I applied for a Debenhams card today to get a 10% discount after applying on line I did not receive an Email from New Day so I spoke to them they gave me card details when I used them I did not get my 10% so cancelled my order then spoke to New Day and was told I would have to wait 2 hours for Email well 31/2 hours later no Email so spoke to New Day and after waiting for nearly 10 minutes told them to cancel my application do not even try they are a disgrace to Debenhams

Terrible is not the word for them, I returned over £200 of items to Debenhams, I have a receipt and an authorisation code to prove it, 3 weeks later newday are still trying to find the refund, still say debehnhams did not process it properly, lost Debenhams vouchers disappear into thin air, customer services and complaints very very lacking, don't apply.

Even when my card had been activated and there was a zero balance, it was declined in my local Debenhans. They called New Day and their "customer service" representative had such a "computer said no" attitude that it was impossible to make any progress. When contacting New Day from home, I was informed that there was a 20 minute telephone waiting time. I have cut up the card and returned it to New Day. This review site shows a 1.2 from 5 positive review for New Day .... a shameful result. Here is my recommendation .... apply for a different card. Do NOT use New Day .... they are amateurs and have no concept whatsoever of customer service. I wish I could give less than one star DO NOT EVER DEAL WITH THEM.

Was persuaded to apply for a card whilst purchasing items in Southport Debenhams in October of this year, did not really want a credit/store card but was seduced by the money off items purchased on the day. Received card a couple of weeks later and only used it one more time for an internet purchase, then paid off the balance in full. Next time I tried to use the card in a store it was declined - attempts to contact New Day were an exercise in frustration with automated system not recognising the card number or the account number so gave up in despair. Took card back into Debenhams who contacted New Day, guy I spoke to was worse than useless a real computer says no attitude. Card still does not work. I wrote the New Day complaints department before Christmas and have had NO RESPONSE. I have also sent a series of emails but still not heard back. I am now cutting the card up and will not be tempted to take any other store cards no matter what the enticements. As far as New Day is concerned AVOID, AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS. No customer service and no redress for complaints. Debenhams should seriously consider remaining connected with New Day as this does them as a business no credit if New Day are a subsidiary of Santander as several reviews have suggested then again business sense would suggest cutting all ties. I am now contacting the Financial Ombudsman.

I have tried on a number of occasions to purchase items from Debenhans on line using my card - despite having a £900 credit limit and always paying my balance in full each month - every time I try to purchase - either my beauty card number / my Debenhans card number/ or my email address is not recognised - I have now given up and use house of Fraser instead - much easier for a full time working mum who uses on line shopping a lot - and don't even go there with paying your balance through new day !!!! Nitemare

Debenhams, in conjunction with New Day, make these card payments almost impossible to check & the customer service is practically non-existent. Instead of itemising each order on your statement, the purchases are just listed as a total sum, which is not always correct. When querying this I have been passed from one to the other, with both saying they can’t provide any details & telling me to contact the other.

Did not supply revised date card when previous card expired - so no credit card service available. Complained and they cancelled other cards on the account that we did not want cancelled. This includes a card needed to pay a holiday bill. Complained again and entered their complaints procedure which takes 5 - 7 working days during which no credit card in our possession is useable. Nothing to recommend this card at all, only one star because zero stars was not an option

Never ever get this card, they blocked my card just because I applied House of fraser card which belongs to same company Newday limited. They asked me to send ID document to their fraud department , I did sent my ID two times , first one non-recorded and second recorded, After post office recorded delivery note I called them they said yes the have received it and told me the colleague who is dealing with your he is not there and he will definitely give you call back, I never received call back and then I went on holidays. After coming from holidays I called them back to confirm If block on my card is off, person told he spoke to fraud department and they are waiting for your document, I told them that we have confirmed month ago that you have received it, he just said we haven't and you will have to send it again. Just closed my account as if they can't manage one document they can't manage my account in future.

Wow I am impressed. Quick easy online application, accepted with instant spend available and 10% off my purchases for the first 7 days. Well I have been a Debenhams MasterCard holder for the past 2 months and so far I an really pleased with the service that I have received from Debenhams and NewDay customer service.. Also I find it so much simpler being able to manage my account online and helps to keep a track of my spends... Loyalty rewards 3 points per £1 when shopping instore. So generally I can be found in Debenhams most days now :)

Buying from Debenhams was a mistake! Such a poor customer service, no one from Debenhams have an answer and knows what should I do next. I've been passed from one help to another. I bought a pair of boots this May 7th from Debenhams Oxford St. and a few days later after wearing it for less than half an hour I realised it's hurting the back of my foot skin. The rounded leather inside the back of the shoes is making the problem, probably it should have been stitched closer to the edge of the leather piece to prevent the leather edge to stick out and rub the skin. I returned it to Debenhams Borehamwood a few weeks later and been told to show my foot blisters but there was none after a few weeks, and I felt bad to be asked such a thing by the store manager. She was insisting that she needed to see the blisters, ignoring my explanation that it was a little blister that gone a few days after and it's been a few weeks since! Currently, the store manager got the boots for inspection for design fault (quality control decision) and does not answer the mobile number that she gave me. I would appreciate if you let me know of the progress.

Just like if you buy a trolley full of shopping at your supermarket and pay with your debit card, it does list every item you have piad on your bank statement. That's why you keep your receipt

You don't get a receipt when you order items on-line via the Debenhams website, the items are listed on that order.
But when you get the credit card bill from New Day it only shows the total amount for that order - nothing is itemised & the total amounts don't always match!
They charged me too much for one of my orders so I asked them to provide an itemised bill, as none of my Debenhams orders matched the amount on my bill. But neither Debenhams or New Day could actually do it!!
