TOTAL FITNES CREWE
Worst value for money ever!
nothing works properly everything is old and falling to pieces. olympic bars are dangerously loose. benches are all coming loose with padding missing. sharp metal hanging off machines. cable machine always out of order. theres more hazard tape than equipment in there.
and to top it all they want to charge £495 and thats if your willing to pre pay £45 A MONTH
WHAT A JOKE! rival gyms would charge atleast £100 LESS… Read Full Review

Total Fitness in Wrexham is rumoured to be closing down shortly. Last week Lancaster closed down as well as three clubs in Dublin.
Wrexham has lost over 2000 members to DW Fitness since last September and with people leaving in droves as their contracts expire...it looks certain Total Fitness Wrexham will close.
I have no sympathy for Total Fitness. The first rule in business is 'Look after your customer...or someone else will'. The place is an absolote tip. The machines don't work, the… Read Full Review

TF closed their branch in Lancaster on Tuesday 5th March. After two days of being told that they'do not have that information at the present time and you will be contacted in due course'' they finally offered'continued membership'' at either their preston Branch...20 miles away or a gym called VVV which is on the wrong side of town and will sometimes take 1 hour to get to and from. I asked for a refund as their options were not acceptable and thay told me that i had to write to them and expalin… Read Full Review

Do not join this gym! I have been a member at Walkden for the last 4 years. Within the last couple of years the gym has rapidly declined. The equipment is in a poor state of repair, majority of staff are rude and the place is always dirty. The mebership has increased with a promise of investment and renewing equipment! This has not happened and in fact the place is worse now than ever. I predict total fitness will in fact go out of business at this rate!!!… Read Full Review

Since being joint members at Lancaster TF for the last 3 years we have noticed a decline in the level of cleanliness and maintenance of the equipment and I would have to agree on an earlier comment from anther reviewer about the staff - some of which don't even bother to greet you upon arrival with a "good morning". This of course may all be due to what was happening in the background which until Tuesday night most if not all of the 4000 members were oblivious to, its closure. Having phoned… Read Full Review

I was a member of Lancaster T.F.from it's opening in 2002 until it closed on Tuesday 15/3/2011.I have watched it steadily decline in standards of hygiene and equipment during this time. The 'Free-weights' area at times resembles a scrap yard with equipment left at random over the work area.It is not enough to say 'members should replace weights after use' it requires staff supervision.Machines constantly breaking down, most Dumbells with no weight markings,Barbells showing plate weights and not… Read Full Review

I personally cannot see the arguement people are trying to make below, people say they have paid £295 last year and its gone up to £495, it is clear as day you got an introductory offer, I also have noticed a lot of complaints about the cleanliness of gyms/pools etc, what we have to realise is there is a lot of members compared to the staff, i believe the staff do a reasonable job bearing in mind how few of them there is, another thing I want to add is that for the prices some people claim to… Read Full Review

I would NOT re join this Gym or recommend it to anyone. Having been a member of Whitefield for 4 years it is in a dire need of repair. The club is dirty, needs Vacuuming (pretty basic i would of thought), full of dust. And most of all the equipment is sub standard. The equipment that is working requires things like weights jammed under the seat to lift them up there are never enough Karabiners, weight pins. And there are always a number of machines broken or in a poor state. The clientele… Read Full Review

I was a member of Total Fitness until January 2011. I then received a letter to renew my membership at a discounted Annual Individual price of £495. I could not believe this as I had paid £295 the previous year. I was not happy with the gym anyway, the equipment is constantly out of order, showers broken and on a few occasions the pool was closed because human waste was floating in it. The staff don't seem to care at all. They expect people to pay a 68% price increase for unhygienic… Read Full Review

Well, after 10 Years at Huddersfield I've canceled my membership.
I've finally had enough of dirty machines, mats, floors, loos and I haven't swum since I found a used tampon in the pool!!!!
Some of us are on the point of calling the public health dept!
Someone is going to get injured as those machines that still work are on the point of failing.
All this for more money - no thanks.
Going up-market - more like going down the sewer.
I can't see the place lasting as customers leave in droves… Read Full Review

Total fitness HULL - my membership has gone up £150 since last year. I now can't pay in 2 seperate instalments and as i can't afford the full payment in one go my only other option is direct debit and that will cost me even more bringing it up to £175 increase. Only option is to join Nuffield and my husband will also be cancelling and coming with me. Therefore that is £800 lost with just one couple and don't tell me that we will be the only ones to go so why the non flexibility? Very… Read Full Review

Chester Gym - They now want me to pay £40 a month! The dirtiest place ever, staff are terrible and machines are broken most of the year. Worst gym i've ever been a member at, without doubt. They said they'd spend some money but I have seen no improvments at all. Shocking. If you want people to pay £40 a month, make a it a £40 a month gym you cowboys… Read Full Review

Total fitness Altrincham - Utter sh*te. I too have had my renewal letter at £40/month. This place is filthy! Machines constantly broken, all plates in the weight area cracked and damaged so you never know what your lifting from one week to the next, water machines were broken for a month earlier this year. Enjoy insolvency idiots… Read Full Review

I joined Total Fitness in Whitefield nearly 12 months ago after being approached by staff looking for new members. The total cost for myself, husband and daughter being £750.00.
I took up the offer as the gym had good facilities, classes etc and my daughter could also attend.
However, since June 2010 the gym has slowly but surely gown down hill. Machines are constantly broken, lights are always out in the changing rooms, the heated pool and spa are NOT heated anymore.
The to add insult to… Read Full Review

I've been a member at Total Fitness (Wakefield) for two years now and recently recieved a reminder that my membership will soon be up for renewal. After paying £250 last year for a 12 month student membership I was made aware that it was to be increased to £350 this year. This is an increase of 40% and I find it hard to justify.
Although there have been slight improvements in recent months(the staff finaly realised that putting out-of-order signs on broken equipment doesn't fix the problem),I… Read Full Review

My husband and I joined Total Fitness in Lancaster last year for a 15 month contract at a reasonable membership rate. We were shocked by the price hike for membership renewal this year (£475!!!!), and the laughable 'reduction' if you pay the annual fee. The gym has never been outstanding, often grimy and smelly, and the pool is not inviting. Considering we used to pay little more than they are now asking for an exclusive Bannatynes gym in Bristol, I really think they are kidding themselves… Read Full Review

I have been a member of TF Prenton since they opened in 2003 and the membership fees have steadlily incresed but the gym and equipment have been in decline. There are a group of us that play squash regulary and only use these facilities however we still have to pay for lighting of the courts. The courts are always unkempt and dirty. Since the new management took over things have got worse and they want to increase the fees. I personaly know of at least 10 members that regulary play squash who… Read Full Review

I use a couple of TF gyms - Wilmslow (which is actually quite nice) and Altrincham (which is falling apart). I paid £360 for 15 months membership last year and have received my letter saying it'll be £475 for another 12 months. I don't think so. Spoke to a guy in the membership department who was unsympathetic and verging on rude. I suspect 2011 will be the year they go bust and this is a last ditch attempt to pull in some funds. I know two other people who have let their membership lapse due… Read Full Review
