“Worst agency (believe me I have worked with many agencies)”

Written on: 01/02/2013 by nssmiss (1 review written)

I have temped a lot and worked with pretty much all the main high street recruitment agency brands as well as some lesser known brand and must say Hays is certainly the worst. Here are some of my experiences; 1) I first worked through Hays when I was 20 in 2006. After six weeks Hays still had not paid me and I was unable to pay my rent which was compounded as my previous employer had not paid me for 3 months before the business closed. Hays non payment of wages was the final straw to make me… Read Full Review

“No Management Control, Blame the contractors using...”

Written on: 31/01/2013

I like them when they believe you are the best candidate, and are going to earn them money by getting hired. If not you are just another bother some person. Agencies that employ people who have no idea about the job they are trying top fill. Reception no idea of are you a possible client. Management?! none, why should there be it makes money without trying. They play at it. Contractors donot care as long as they are cheap and get the person required. Telephone call send your CV I have a job… Read Full Review

“Unprofessional, rude and unreliable ”

Written on: 31/01/2013 by adywords (2 reviews written)

I went for an interview with Hays, their total process was really bad. They make themselves out to be something big and so professional. It was just all bad and the guy doing the recruitment seemed clueless and incompetent. We met one of the senior managers and he seemed quite stupid as well. If you want to get the biggest bunch of idiots in Hays, then go to their office in London. I would not recommend working for them or with them in any professional or personal capacity! In the end I got a… Read Full Review

“Just wasting time for a professional !”

Written on: 18/01/2013

Totally agree with all other reviewer, I'm a Freelancer (Designer Engineer) and I've been in contact with their agencies in Belgium and Germany for the last few months. It really seems they contact you just to only report they did it. My bad experience is mainly with their German site, three of them contacted me but after they do not reply to my emails neither give me the information I ask. Impossible to collaborate in a professional manner with them, just wasting time, inadmissible. … Read Full Review

“Not Happy”

Written on: 14/01/2013 by newstart (1 review written)

Finally Hays have found me a short term temp job, a year after I had registered. However, the job is to start tomorrow and I am without any information about the job, whom I am reporting to, what the hours of work are and some very misleading information about parking. At least they have let me know the address of the company though. They were supposed to send me a email with the information before the weekend but nothing has arrived and despite me trying to contact them and leaving them… Read Full Review

“Stay away, nothing but time wasters!”

Written on: 10/01/2013 by emmyjane (1 review written)

So reviewing from a slightly different side of things to the others here. My experience with Hays relates to actually trying to get a job with them to become a recruitment consultant. So all in all, I knew from the start it would be a long process, but figured that it would be worth it to have a well paid job at the end of it. First I had the telephone interview, then I had a two hour face to face interview in the town in which I applied to be based. After this I got through to the assessment… Read Full Review

I have worked for them for 2 weeks! My account wasn’t setup, after lots of calls and emails, the account was sorted out but with many errors: Your NIN will be TN XX XX XX M/F and they will (pay )deduct TAX, which in my case make me Working illegal in this country, I have my own LTD and pay my own TAX. “2:2 arts graduates hiring for management positions”

Written on: 21/12/2012 by sankadaman (1 review written)

This agency is one of the worst or if not the worst recruitment agency in UK. I have gone for an interview for a service administrator role in late November, 2012 and I sat for the initial interview after which I signed their agreement. I was told at the end of the interview that I will be sent an online test to check my MS excel competency within the next week. I have been waiting for the test ever since and I have tried to contact the person in charge of recruiting for the position a couple… Read Full Review

“AWFUL customer service and NO communication”

Written on: 15/12/2012

I got my first phone call and AFTER telling them I couldn't talk as I was a work. They ignored me and continued to ask me questions. Which AFTER they has finished told me it was a phone interview... Then the day after I was offered the job. And the day after that I accepted! Then it all went wrong. They were made aware I needed to give 4 weeks notice. They were also told that a few of my previous jobs may not be around anymore due to companies going bust. But they simply ignored me. It took… Read Full Review

“Incompetent”

Written on: 14/12/2012

I applied for a OHS job through Hays Perth Office and only to be told that my experience and Qualifications were not what the client wanted. I then contacted the client and was employed straight away.I explained that Hays had nocked me back for the job, The company apologised and decided not to use them again. This is why the unemployment rate is so high if the recruiters can't do their job properly then no one will be employed… Read Full Review

“Communication failures”

This agency surprises me how they stay in business, they are so bad at communicating that they remind me of spoilt children who refuse to speak to each other. Given the opportunity, I would shut them down for poor organisation, failure to communicate, and inept management… Read Full Review

“Lack of basic courtesy”

Written on: 27/11/2012 by NigelOfKent (1 review written)

I registered with Hays recruitment in 2010 and did not receive a response until October of this year (2012). I was offered a registration interview which I was not able to keep because of transport disruption. My efforts to telephone and rearrange my appointment were unsuccessful - the person who took my call could not rearrange the appointment themselves and declined to pass on any messages. I did not hear from Hays again, despite numerous telephone and email requests for a new appointment… Read Full Review

“Bulk IT recruitment by Arts majors”

Written on: 25/11/2012

Hays Recruitment are a bulk recruitment agency with a reputation to go with it. They play all the tricks in the recruitment book so beware, deal with em but treat them with caution. Make sure you play them before they pick on any sign of weakness. Hints -Their senior agents, make sure you check their credientals. They have IT agents with degrees in Arts from adelaide uni who don't know what they are talking about but have a nice voice...usually female. -So be careful talking to their agents… Read Full Review

It tells me that Hays, like virtually the rest of the UK recruitment industry is at best useless and at worst full of rubbish who make Estate Agents seem like angels.

Applied for a job hosted by them through the Direct Gov site. I got contacted saying it was already full but they said they would pass my details on to the Wigan department even asked why I was unemployed and asking me details that they had on my CV. So yeah the guy from Wigan calls me saying they have positions for me but I have to register so I was okay so I did and not heard anything since. Also told me don't let it get you down that you're not successful in your applications. “Awful Agency”

Written on: 20/11/2012

My advice is to try to avoid using this company. Unfortunately, I had to as the international school that I was applying to uses their London office. The process took months and involved a lot of paperwork (this was AFTER I had been offered the job), most of which was very expensive and a waste of time. I had to submit most of the paperwork twice, sometimes even three times as it would get lost or the company would deny I ever sent it. The staff that I came across were rude and would do their… Read Full Review

“If i could vote less than one star, i would.”

Written on: 15/11/2012

Such a terrible experience, the process of registering and verifying yourself with Hays is slow and very old fashioned, its the 21st century and the process could be made a lot simpler. When i did eventually get verified, Hays did not even find me the job i am currently in, it was by pure luck i knew there was a position available and submitted my own CV for the post. I was told several names of people who were my consultant, only to find out it was none of them. However it was someone who was… Read Full Review

“Worst Communication”

Written on: 27/10/2012

First to contact you, but then never follow up afterwards. They are at the top of my list for worst communication EVER! Spoke to 3 recruiters and none of them knew what they were talking about. Maybe Hays should hire people who actually have experience. Why would I want people helping me find a job when they obviously don't even know how to do their own? DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. Complete waste of time!… Read Full Review

I have worked for Hays in the past...I was made redundant around 6 months ago...I thought that if I resigned with them that they would help me find temporary/permanent employment so that my bills can be made...after being registered with them for around 3 months I kept seeing jobs advertised on seek and mycareer that I am qualified and experienced to do...when I asked my Consultant why I was not being put up for these positions, I was told that they were too busy to ring people and that it was up to me to find their advertised jobs and contact them in regards to being put forward for the prospective position...I've worked in temp jobs for various agencies over the last 23 years and have never experienced this laxidasical approach to help prospective employees - I have since tried to apply for jobs advertised by Hays and have had no response as whether I've even been considered for the position - do they really have jobs to give people - or does it just look good that they are advertising jobs and it's really good for their statistics to have candidates on their database...How does this help me - I am still jobless - I still have bills coming in - how am I supposed to support myself when there are agencies like Hays that don't give a damn about their Candidates - meanwhile I'm getting further into debt - tell me how this is a lucky Country (tell me when I can have job security, be out of debt and actually be able to start to live my life without the added stress of no employment) I know everyone is worse off than me - what happens when I'm homeless and declare bankrupt???

I know exactly what you are going through. I just dont understand how they play with your emotions and they say they will come back to you with feedback. They never do and rarely do they offer you a position even though they keep saying they will have something coming through this week next week whenever. They are so cruel. I am exactlfy in your situation at the moment, and all I keep thinking about Xmas and how I will be paying my next bill. I know I am a good worker, loyal and will go that extra mile for my job. I am never given a chance to show and I do not know what the next step is. I do not like calling them as they make me feel like a needy and annoying person. I wish they were regulated so I could go and voice my opinion to a government department so some action would be taken agains these scam agencies. In fact I think the government has put them out there on purpose since they disposed job hunting from centrelink. So all those fake jobs the agencies post on SEEK make the government look good in unemployment statistics. THE JOBS DO NOT EXIST, they are just fishing for your cv and your referees in order for them to extract work connections through your referees so they could earn their commission. I hope you have been successsful in your recent hunt for a job. As I understand the frustration and the disappointment you are going through.
