“As a Recruitment Agency I would AVOID too.”

Written on: 21/03/2014 by 233Stone (1 review written)

Having worked with Hays at two Recruitment Agencies supplying staff via their Managed Services model, where they are on client site, I would strongly recommend avoidance of working with them. Rude on-site staff that treat you with contempt, dreadful payment terms, payment errors and delays and they are one of the worst on-site Managed Services Providers I have had the misfortune to work with in my 20+ years of recruitment. Being the one of the worst is some achievement as others are pretty dire… Read Full Review

The worst agency ever! After offering me 4 separate jobs, 2 of which I traveled to the job got there and they told me that haven't heard from hays and that I shouldn't be there!! When I called hays oh sorry we forgot to tell you this is no longer available, other jobs they send you what details they know tell you to start and then pull the job They never answer the phone return calls or emails and are very rude The one job I actually got from them I turned up they had lied about hours breaks… Read Full Review

Very very frustrating to deal with (well you can't deal with them 'cos you cannot speak to anyone lol!!). I don't even bother with adverts from Hays anymore..just waste of time and expectations. “Zero stars in truth!”

Written on: 06/03/2014 by Kaneoi163 (1 review written)

Maidstone, Kent - home of the worst recruitment agency ever - Hays Recruitment. Fact. I applied for many positions which I was adequately suited for but never heard anything back from Hays and when I called to inquire about the roles they would brush me off and seem completely disinterested. All they ARE interested in is seems is getting you 'signed up' with them. I did actually 'sign up' with them by going in to their office but found myself speaking with a recruiter (who was a salesman… Read Full Review

“Less than Zero is my rating on Hays”

Written on: 24/02/2014

Hays Recruiting sucks! I responded to an online posting for a senior manager position looking for a skill set where I have over two decades of directly applicable experience. Most of my telephone interview with JENNI SCOTT in their Houston office centered on: where was I already looking, who I had already talked with, etc., etc. My response was that I don't kiss and tell. Ms. Scott told me that it was required to provide a list of other firms that I had spoken with; e.g. where there were… Read Full Review

I think you'll find that recruiters generally ask these questions to eliminate the companies you have already applied for to: 1 - Avoid you looking like an 'agency ***' if your details are sent more than once by different people. And 2 - So their time might be better spent contacting companies who have not already rejected you.

“Unemployed and HAYS consultant made me feel unemployable ”

Written on: 24/02/2014 by Nicoletterb1 (1 review written)

I have been sidelined by this agency for over 6 months. My concern is not that they won't help my case, because they are not miracle workers, but that their staff do not treat every caller with respect. My typical interaction with them, send CV - automated email response - silence - CV in a black hole, lost forever. with this trend, I decided to try and get some answers, the person I spoke to had received 2 emails from me but chose not to respond, she was not apologetic for not responding and… Read Full Review

“Useless and frustrating”

Written on: 24/02/2014

I applied via 'Monster' for a vacancy in Wigan. I heard nothing so a couple of weeks later I rang. I was told that they were very busy and couldn't respond to everyone who applied. Fair enough I thought. I was advised to send my CV directly to one of the consultants and she would get back to me. After a week I had received no response, no acknowledgement, nothing. I sent a polite email querying if my CV had been received and asking if they needed any further information. Again, no… Read Full Review

“So disappointed”

Written on: 21/02/2014 by FrancaT (2 reviews written)

I'm having to change careers due to an ongoing medical condition. I saw a vacancy advertised by Hays, sent my CV, and was asked to go in to the office to discuss it. I was excited because the role would have been perfect for my skills and experience. When I got there, it quickly became apparent that the position didn't exist and the consultant was a new agent trying to fill her books. I haven't been getting many leads with my job hunting and I was so excited that I might have finally found a… Read Full Review

“Frustrating, Annoying, Dissapointing”

Written on: 19/02/2014

I have applied for 3 jobs with Hays over the past couple of years and found them very difficult to get in contact with. The latest job I applied for was one which is the exact same role I do now but with another company so I assumed that I would be an ideal candidate however I didn't get a reply from Hays, when I did eventually get through I was told that my e-mail had been filtered out as I am registered in a different area (haven't they ever heard of relocating?!), I was then told that she… Read Full Review

I too am experiencing problems with not just Hays but 17 other recruitment agencies which I have registered to. I have not been sent to one single interview and am getting really frustrated and fed up that I never hear from them. I want to send them a stroppy email, basically saying what the hell is going on but then that will give them more reason not to help me. It is soooooooo frustrating!!!!!!!!

“Do not use Hays”

Written on: 27/01/2014 by CHARGA (1 review written)

I have been a registered user of Hays for over 10 years in the ACT. In 2013 I got back in touch with Hays to seek temporary/contract or full time work in administration in government or private industry. I thought 16 years administrative experience as an EA/Senior Administrator would be something they could work with. I was bitterly disappointed. I have sent applications to one consultant which has been ignored. I have been denied the opportunity to come and meet with a consultant face to face… Read Full Review

“Job at hays? No thanks ”

Written on: 11/01/2014

I feel I have to let anyone looking to join hays as a recruitment consultant to know about the very poor initial interview I had this morning with one of the internal recruiters of staff in the Cardiff branch. At my complete shock and dismay the interview was to be cut off by ........... for apparently not yet knowing the core values on Hays as a business and her self assuming that I haven't done enough re-search on the business. Which to be honest is a complete joke. I did explain my role as… Read Full Review

I thought 16 years administrative experience as an EA/Senior Administrator would be something they could work with. I was bitterly disappointed. I have sent applications to one consultant which has been ignored. I have been denied the opportunity to come and meet with a consultant face to face to discuss options. I have been made to feel that my experience accounts for nothing and told that my skills "are not current enough" as an EA despite working for senior level executives in Federal PS and local PS. I feel discriminated against for having the audacity to have a child that requires my time. If anyone is looking for work seriously and wants to be treated with respect refer to Wizard. They will listen to your needs, assist you with your applications, provide access to training and above all else - will not ignore you and treat you with disrespect. I think Hays leaves a lot to be desired and certainly not an agency I will be recommending to anyone in the future. I have been out of work for 10 months seeking opportunities and their best advice? Apply directly for roles.

The job was describe to me as being administration, turned out to be receptionist work. Was also told it would be for 6 weeks and that turned out to be 3 weeks. I was provided a temp job by Hays working for a health service in QBN NSW. Upon arriving at the job, there was no clear job description or indication what I would be doing. No credit card for catering purchases - that had to be paid for by you which I refused to do. Another job placement with Hays saw me placed in an unhygienic office where the previous person was on sick leave. The desk was putrid and equipment such as phone in putrid condition also and the SES person walked in without acknowledging my presence, closed his door behind him and 2 hours later walked out and said "Oh I suppose I should say hello". That's what you get when you register with Hays in the ACT.

“No encouragement whatsoever”

Written on: 29/12/2013

All I ever got from Hays was negativity. One person told me that all my qualifications were just basic and probably the most I could ask for is 45,000. Another one asked me about my accent and where it was from? She had a heavy Irish accent herself...maybe hers is permissible compared to mine? It is American by the way. It is very disheartening to be told all this when I have been working consistently most of my life, probably before they were born. I understand that some of the jobs are… Read Full Review

Hello, I went to register with a different recruitment agency last week known as Tate.

Some people tend to discriminate based on the way someone speaks or acts, the person who invited me to register was pretty sure that he could get me out to work as soon as this week when we spoke over the phone and he asked me to come in at short notice.

When I walked through the doors of this agency, I asked for the individual. I was early they asked to comeback in 15 mins to complete paper work. I went off when I got back after 15 mins the receptionist asked me to take a seat, someone else came over and asked me what I am therefore, I told them that I was called to come in to register. Then that person told me to come back after 5 or 10 mins, I decided to wait the consultant I came to see came and saw me. When I briefly spoke to him he asked me to tell me about myself, I was a very nervous because of the short notice so I couldn't speak well. The next comment that he made was there are better people out than me and time is precious. He then told me to think about what I want to and then told me to contact him in a couple of weeks. As I walked out of the door he swore at me when he was speaking to the receptionist.

Since he told me that there are better candidates than me I sent him an email yesterday and told him that there are better recruitment agencies, thanked him for arranging to meet and waste my time, and told him that I guess the difference between the best and the worst agencies is that the best have excellent customer service. The guy emailed back and tried to convince me that they are the best in the business.

I had the same experience. Despite 16 years administrative experience, 91wpm with 98% typing accuracy, having gained a Cert IV HR Mgt qualification, experience providing transcription services - so much experience and to be told my EA experience is not current enough, not recent enough to be competitive. They wouldn't even put me forward. I was told that I was competing against people who had recent EA experience which would discount me. I was also asked about how old I was, if I had children and where I lived which is discriminatory.

“Terrible attitude”

Written on: 10/12/2013

Applied for a job I came across, however after applying I telephoned the Glasgow office to find out more information and to also see if this job would be suitable for me, as the text in the advert was very limited. No one phoned me back. I then received a promising call from a Victoria on the Tuesday saying she was really keen to put me forward for this job and would hope to get me an interview by the end of this week. When I emailed checking progress she kept telling me hadn't heard back from… Read Full Review

“Do not deliver”

Written on: 09/12/2013 by Straightup (1 review written)

I was talked into using Hays after having lost faith in agencies completely. Not only did the representative I met not have the where with all to understand my work experience, he also had the audacity to question my integrity as to what I had done. I supplied him with very good references from key positions I'd had with international companies, but because they didn't understand my industry (Tun Key Energy), they questioned to the point of belittling it. Absolutely outstanding service, the staff are so polite and honest and treat the candidate like a VIP...I booked an appointment with Hays Portsmouth on Monday.
