I've had my sheraton for 10 years now, and in all that time, other guitars have come and gone but this is the one I keep coming back to. It just feels like a very natural guitar to play, and it can be very hard to put down. It sounds awesome, but the think I like most is that it's very versatile and is capable of a huge variety of moods. I play through a pod, and it holds up well for everything from hard distorted numbers - a great, full-throated grunt - to quieter jazzy pieces (which is… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/01/2007 by tallgroove (1 review written)

Once I had the pickups replaced - in my case Gibson P-94s - and installed Schaller tuning machines I was left with a guitar as good as anything money can buy. May have the pots, switch and socket replaced at some point, but that would be an artistic extravagance in all honesty. This is now my #1 guitar - and I've owned a fair few. Somehow easier to play than many, and far more versatile than it's 'blues man' image would suggest - although that is it's main strength to be sure. I would recommend… Read Full Review

Tallgroove's Response to tallgroove's Review

Written on: 27/05/2007

Sorry it's taken so long to reply. You've probably already installed the pick ups by now.
In case you haven't, yes, it does make a huge difference. Suddenly the individual notes are crisper and the chords just sing. In effect it's turning the guitar into a more solid Epiphone Casino, but a little less 'boxy'.

“The Epiphone Sheraton II is one of the best guitars...”

Written on: 25/08/2006 by treeshaman (1 review written)

The Epiphone Sheraton II is one of the best guitars ever made for the price. It is great value. It is one of 2 guitars that I can't put down once I start playing it. I sold my Gibson model of the same because I liked the Sheraton more. Epiphone is made by Gibson, and is of equal value as far as tone and electronics. Don't buy Gibson for the name. Buy the Sheraton Epiphone. I guarantee happiness.

I've been playing guitar since 1989. I have quite a few guitars, but if I had to stick with just 1… Read Full Review

I love the Epiphone Sheraton II electric guitar! I have read reviews knocking the pickups and pots/switching, but I have no issue personally with those - no scratchiness at all, and the sound is very mellow. I do notice the input jack is rather wobbly, and I will probably replace it, although there is no static with it. The nut does need attention for sure. Mine is a '94 vintage, and I tried a few before I found one where the neck felt 'right'. This is the same with many guitars, so it is not a… Read Full Review

The Epiphone Sheraton II electric guitar is the counterpart to the Gibson ES-335. It plays and sounds very similar, and is as heavy and well-built as its Gibson cousin. Written on: 17/08/2005 by lyndonbournon (2 reviews written)

I recently bought a Sheraton here in Manitoba. The guitar had to go back to Toronto after a week, due to developing a fret buzz that a set-up wouldn't cure. Apparently the problem was cured by filing down the 21st fret. I really enjoy the guitar, but wish I could get the fretboard feeling a bit smoother… Read Full Review

266533_Mike Mcd's Response to lyndonbournon's Review

Written on: 10/11/2006

Smoothing up any fretboard can start with a sealer/filler, carefully and sparingly applied. In order to get a glass like smoothness on rosewood or ebony, usually a little elbow grease can transform a rough fretboard into a very nice one. First, use a very fine steel wool to smooth the wood by going back and forth with the grain (with the grain - important). Take care around the frets, use your finger nail or a heavy pick to smooth the hard to get at area adjacent to the fretwire. Wipe it clean and use a little bit of lemon oil furniture polish or Fender's fretboard conditioner to condition the wood. A couple of light coats is great. DO NOT over apply.
Too much can hurt the bonding of the fretboard to the neck...

Note Bene: use care with the Sheraton II that you do not scuff up the neck binding. If you do, a pinch of polishing compound can restore the luster. However, you need to completely remove the polishing compound and condition the area with fretboard conditioner.
They are so nice looking, the first dings and scuffs are painful.

The operation will take about an hour. Afterwards you will experience that smooth glide we all love.

Epiphone Sheraton II - This guitar has tons of sustain. Plays nice without amp for practice. Built as well as my 70's Gibson SG and sounds almost as good. I would recommend this guitar if you can't afford a Gibson....Epi is the next best thing. After I switch out POTs, get it pro set up, nut and frets lowered some, it will be as good or maybe even better than a Gibson and still for a lot less money… Read Full Review

This review has so much contradiction in it isn't worth reading. You pick the axe apart then you say with a few adjustments it will be as good if not better than you 70's Gibson. Come on. Make up your mind here.
Your comments would leave just about everyone who reads it confused.
