I had been with FastHosts for about a year when I had to change my debit card due to wear and tear. A month later I noticed that my website was down, and I could not access my email. I contacted them, and they told me it was due to them being unable to take payment. I immediately amended my card details and they took the missing payment, as well as a charge for £47 pounds. I received spam promoting a site hosted on their servers. I contacted their abuse team and got no reply. I then called their customer services and their line is that as long as the email didn't originate from their network, they are not concerned as they can't 'prove' the email campaign was instigated by the site promoted in the email!
I asked them whether they thought this was acceptable and after going round in circles they just put me on hold until I got bored and went away.

I have a Linux dedicated server running Fedora with FastHosts web hosting. I have been with them for 3 months. The last month has been dreadful.
Updates controlled through FastHosts wiping out PHP class files, and down times that break their service level agreements. The update lost me 2 and 1/2 days, as they have no engineer support at the weekend - losses into thousands. No apology, no communication and no one who knows what they are doing.

I have been with them for 1 month, and I have had problems from the start. They have given every excuse under the sun, but at no point actually solved the problem or shown much of a willingness to really try. FastHosts separate you from any tech guys or managers and constantly tell you that problems have been solved when nothing has changed. I had 3 websites hosted with FastHosts, and I decided to ditch one domain and move the other two to Streamline. Can you imagine how surprised I was to get a debit on my card for the domain I ditched? I contacted them to inform them of their error, and they replied that as I had not informed them in writing of my intent to discontinue my hosting of the third domain (it was all done over the phone) they would not refund my money, even though they have no domains hosted there, no websites left… Read Full Review

The broadband activation went smoothly, but they will not give me a migration (MAC) code, so I cannot move to another provider without downtime.

I had my site hosted with FastHosts for over a year. The uptime of the site wasn't critical, so I didn't seem to notice any downtime that other people have complained about.
However, I did have issues with their service. As someone else has mentioned, their systems generate a warning when your credit card is about to expire. I have been a customer of Fasthosts for seven years. I took their free trial of their email services. I could not get the system to work the way I needed to, so I looked at other providers. I found the right solution but forgot to cancel the account with Fasthosts email. When FastHosts IS up and running, it is nice and fast, but it goes down too often, with a "Service Unavailable" message. Give it a few minutes (or hours) and it works fine again. If you can live with occasional (daily) downtime like this, then go for it. I signed up with FH a couple of weeks ago, and already I've experienced a lot of downtime. You are supposed to retain up-to-date card details on your FastHosts web hosting account panel, but my card was changed during the year. I was sent a reminder while on holiday that the account was due to be renewed and I paid on return. However, the following day I received an invoice for £23.50 for 'debt recovery' due to late payment. The was not mentioned in the reminder mails (the threat of site removal was - which is only fair). FastHosts operate a policy that does not provide MAC codes to transfer between broadband providers. Be aware of this if you sign up to their broadband service, as it means that you'll have cancel your current contract before getting a new provider… Read Full Review

I set up a test domain so I could check the performance of FastHosts before transferring my main website. I wanted something that had a bit more storage than my current host, provided perl and .NET, and had a generous bandwidth allowance. I bought their "Business Hosting" package.

The website has been down as they are out of connectivity from Telewest.
NOW what do I do?
I called up tech. support and they say it will be up in hours if not in days ??? Now what kind of reply is that?

FastHosts is useless. They make all these offers in their advertising then turn around and start charging for extras that you would expect to part of the price, especially as they are not a cheap hosting service.
You can only have 5 email boxes that have SMTP outgoing WHY?? You have to pay for ALL your MYSQL databases at £25+vat each. I went for the top business package expecting the amount I was paying would include both the above with smtp email unlimited accounts. But no you have to pay… Read Full Review
