I was given a TomTom Go at Christmas. The first one developed a screen fault within days. The replacement has developed the same fault after 3 weeks.
I discovered the map in the unit was out of date and that it is not possible to update it without sending the brand new unit to Tom Tom who will then replace it with and old, reconditioned unit containing the new map.
The mapping has many errors - routes directing you the wrong way down one way sreets that have been one-way for years, that… Read Full Review

The Tom Tom Go Navigator for Palm PDA, is easily installed and works well in the majority of high populace states. Maps for more rural areas, are sometime erroneous directing you to non-existent roads or routes that are not the most direct nor time saving.
As for customer support, good luck! If your questions aren't readily answered on TomTom's FAQ's site, you will basically be left to fend for yourself. I've posted questions reguesting an activation code (after 2 codes are used, you must… Read Full Review

I have owned the Tomtom 700 for almost a year and love it! I've toured all over Germany, Nice, Venice and Ireland and don't know how I travelled without it. When there's a stau, I just jump off the autobahn and reroute avoiding motorways. It's AWESOME! There is a new shade you can purchase on ebay for about $15 that dramatically helps screen fade when driving in bright sun. Just recently purchased speed cameras from the tomtom site and it's already saved me (ticket expenses) what it… Read Full Review

Got a TomTom Go 300 for Christmas and absolutely love it. The maps are accurate, the route calculation is fast and efficicient and the user interface is superb. For out-of-the-box functionality I cannot fault the unit.
It's going beyond the basic functionality that I have hit problems. I am keen to make use of the TomTom Traffic service and in order to do this you need to pair your TomTom device with an internet capable mobile phone. After trying to set up this connection by following the… Read Full Review

I exchanged 2 and ultimately gave the 3rd Tom Tom Go 700 back, all within a month!
The 1st stopped working (did not switch on).
The 2nd received no signals (despite switching on) and the 3rd did neither!
I could not get through to Tom Tom (Hint: make call using loudspeaker in front of retailer/reseller manager!) despite numerous attempts, so demanded my money back!
I think the technology is too advanced and is going through its teething problems - let's hope the new European satellite… Read Full Review

TomTom Go gives clear directions and is very easy to program for new destinations. We just purchased the product as an aid for a new driver who had a tendency of getting lost easily.
We are still uncertain why this second unit only works on battery power? We are having problems getting through to TomTom technical support. Their web site is extremely slow and they do not answer telephone calls… Read Full Review

Having used both the AA & Natvtec on a palm the TomTom Go700 is far better at receiving the signals - beware an external antenna is often required for the modern car - sun on the screen can be a problem,TomTom Go should produce a visor as standard, all extras cost, inc mapping updates, overall a good piece of kit… Read Full Review

Upgraded from TomTom classic(which, still is, excellent), to TomTom 700. I had read Forum reviews advising against the reliability of this particular product and the probability of it just ceasing up for no reason.
I emailed TomTom.com offering them to comment, Their response, as expected, informed me that they are the market leader in portable Sat-Nav equipment… Read Full Review

I've only had the TomTom Go for a week, but my first impressions are that this is a superb piece of equipment. Both my kids lead very active lives, and my 12 year old son in particular visits the most obscure addresses through his sporting commitments, which has lead to many stressful situations over the years as we try to reconcile poor directions with kick off times etc. I've had two new inner city venues to find this week, and the Tom Tom got us their effortlessly, and with time to spare. I… Read Full Review

Imagine you have just passed your driving test and one month later get a phone call to say you have got that dream sales job that covers eleven counties, that is exactly what happened to me! I had never driven on a motorway on my own before and realised it may be a good time to invest in Sat Nav. From day one my Tom Tom got me to exactly where I needed to go door to door. Even after using it every week day for the past twelve months I am still amazed by it. I feel I have had my monies worth and… Read Full Review

Impressed with the Jaguar SatNav in my new car bought three-years ago I decided that the other vehicles could do with a transportable unit. The Tom Tom GO 700 was purchased from Super Etrader, delivered free within 24 hours and worked straight from the box. It routed me safely from the UK to Southern Spain without drama and then failed. I tried many hardware resets to no avail. The unit powered up but the touch screen control just flashed the screen brightness and defied all attempts to access… Read Full Review

My main criticism of the TomTom Go Satellite Navigation system is that you cannot contact TomTom. They do not answer the phone, and they do not answer letters of complaint.
Halfords, from whom I bought the unit, will not accept any responsibility. They will not refund my money nor provide a replacement. So after spending over £400 I have had very little use out of the unit.
A very loud and clear 'I would not recommend'… Read Full Review

I have tried a few different makes and have found the Tom Tom Go to be the best. En route to Baru Mare in Romania it took me beyond Vienna where the European maps ended.

I bought a Tomtom Go 700 in August - just after they came out. This version has a built in hard drive which stores maps for all of Europe. I use it for work on a daily basis (I visit up to ten different residential addresses a day) and can honestly say that my map books have not been used since the day I got the TT Go! In the summer, I set the destination to the small village in the South of France that we were towing our caravan to and just drove. Everyone else in the car could go to… Read Full Review

I have the Tom Tom Go 300 Satellite Navigation system. It has post code accuracy. The touch screen gives you so much information. It also has route, estimated time of arrival, mileage to go/done, compass, new route avoiding roadblocks/traffic, road ahead straight or bendy (good for judging overtaking), and of course speed camera warnings. I am about to go to France and will get maps downloaded ready to go!… Read Full Review

TomTom Go Satellite Navigation
I bought a TomTom Go 300 because I have no sense of direction, and thought this would give me more confidence.
I must say I am incredibly pleased with it so far. I have tried it out locally and the directions are spot on, and it has actually taken me to roads I never knew even existed!
I work in London, and this is the prime reason I wanted this gadget. What with so many road closures etc...
When using it in London, I found that some instructions were very… Read Full Review

I bought the TomTom GO unit in November 2004 from Global Positioning Systems, via the internet. It cost well over £400.00
It has been returned to the manufacturer 4 times (because the supplier disclaims all responsibility) so I am now on my 5th unit. This has the same fault as all the previous ones - it randomly reboots itself and, worse, selects a route at random from any that you have used before... only you don't know that until you realise you are NOT travelling towards your intended… Read Full Review

I'll start by saying that I work all over the UK, and I have not had problems finding customer sites prior to buying this unit, but this was with paper based navigation the night before, and memory on the day.
I have been doing my job for 5 1/2 years prior to purchasing this unit, for my wife initially!!
This in itself is a stong pro for this product, for only an extra mount unit, (£16ish), someone else can easily use it.
Lets face it, getting from major city to city is no problem, it's the… Read Full Review
