“ Do Not use OPODO”

On 13/10/2014, I used OPODO to book 3 flights to Bologna via Ryanair. OPODO confirmed the transaction cost, by email as £133.17 for fights and £60 for baggage. Immediately after the email from OPODO I received a further email direct from Ryanair. This said that the cost was £89.97 for flight and £45 for baggage. I went to the Opodo site to book a flight. After making the appropriate selections I entered my credit card details and pressed the submit button. I received an error message saying the system was down and to please try again later. I waited a couple of hours and tried again with the same result. I have had the same experience as there was this same system error whilst booking for a flight to Malta via Fleetway travels on the Opodo website. I therefore proceeded to call up their customer service and booked another holiday for which I received confirmation.
However to my dismay the first booking had gone through and I received their confirmation which means I have two bookings to the same destination.
I quickly called up to cancel the first booking but was told I would incur a £100' charge out of the £267 I had paid as the balance of £167 would be credited to my debit card.
I have tried contacting Opodo as this flight was booked on their website and the system error was theirs so I am requesting a refund.
A constant trail of emails has not resolved the matter as they are refusing responsibility claiming Fleetway Travels is not linked to them

I am pursuing them to claim my refund of £100.

opodo is a horrendous outfit - could not change a flight within europe - on hold a total of three hours - can't change on line or by e-mail - they are absolutely the worst ever. i am a very experienced traveler, many decades, and have dealt with many frustrating situations but this was truly the worst. if there were a rating of zero i would use it… Read Full Review

“Bad , Bad Company”

Because Turkish Airlines re-scheduled and thereby made it impossible for me to get the connecting flight from Istanbul to Mombasa, I chose to cancel the whole booking as per REGULATION (EC) No 261/2004. I contacted Opodo after sales by telephone and following a short discussion was told that I MUST book a new flight before I could be given a full refund which should take a few days after I inform them that I had made a new booking. “their mistake - I pay”

Family holiday - booked flights paid for the hold baggage. Turn up at airport and told I cannot check in baggage. It turned out that opodo had taken my money (£87) for the baggage but had not booked baggage with the airline. So after much hassle - I have to pay again. Try to contact opodo - no joy as yet. Of course I won't use them again. I also made the mistake of booking car hire through them too. But thats another story. Sadly I had exactly the same experience. DO NOT USE OPODO.I have documentary evidence that I had prebooked and paid for hold baggage but had to pay again at the airport. One of their representatives promised I would be refunded but surprise surprise this has not happened. I have gone through the email complaints process but they are just ignoring me. In my opinion their actions are little short of being criminal.

RETURN FLIGHT DID NOT EXIST Bought flights to Milan to enjoy my sons wedding in May 2014 flight out ok no problems Problem occurred on the return, arrived at airport only to find retun flight that we had purchased did not exist Unable to contact opodo we had to purchase new tickets fly to a different airport hire a car and drive 2 hours home. This has just happened to me as well. I booked 8 return flights to Budapest last November. I found out when putting all the passport details last week that my return flight home had been cancelled due to an issue with my card. which they happily took the out bound flight money from. why they only took one way is beyond me. when I phoned them and got through the English lady was very rude and couldn't give me a straight answer to why! she gave me another number to ring which I did. the lad from Asia I think was very helpful but was unable t help or again give me a straight answer only that out in bound flight had been cancelled.
so when I looked at getting the 8 lads home I found that each flight had gone up £140 each leading to £1400 just of 8 single tickets. seems after reading all the reviews this is very common! had to book the tickets to the get the lads home!

thankfully there are 30 of us going on this trip and we booked the others with the airline and the lads are happy to spread the cost.

“Never again”

tried to cancel a return flight, because outbound flight was cancelled by airline, -customer service rep I spoke to was very hard to understand -they wanted to have a cancellation fee of 25 pounds upfront -I was told I was only eligible for 15 pounds tax refund, you do the math.... Experienced a number of similar long wait times, no one answers. Just a jingle and recorded voice saying you're in a queu and will be attended to. If you use their 0870 number they will bankrupt you.

That's been my experience too, unhelpful and expensive I would have done so much better going via the airline themselves. Avoid Opodo at any costs.

I booked my flights for my summer holiday through Opodo with two different airlines on the 10/07. Then I received a cancellation e-mail notification on the 18/07 saying that the airline cancelled the flight completely and it's willing to refund fully its customers. “Terrible company”

I've been using Opodo for the past 3 years and before I didn't have a problem with them. I haven't book 6 months and now when I had to I use it again and they charge me a two fees of 12 pounds in case that I am traveling with one month old baby and she is not suposed to be charged. Worst company that I've ever had the misfortune to come across. Was directed though Skyscanner to Opodo - they took my booking, then 26hrs later informed me that the booking had not gone through - no explanation - of course in the intervening time the cost of the flights had increased by 50%.
