“Flight Nightmare”

Booked several flights thru Expedia . Expedia contacted me to change itinerary. I agreed with departure times and hung up. Expedia called and said THEY made an error booking wrong times. Sure enough they did. I spent over 9 hrs on phone trying to correct their error.. After being on hold Xmas day for 3 hrs I got disconnected on their end. Worst customer service experience of my life. Was promised a refund due to their error in August. Took me until October (including dozens upon dozens of unreturned calls and emails) to get them to confirm my refund. In October, was promised that the funds would hit my bank account within eight weeks - that was ten weeks ago. If I could give Expedia a 0 on the rating scale I would. They make it impossible for you to speak with someone who can actually help you with the problem that they caused. I was the 7th person of the day that was told at the front desk of the hotel in Times Square that Expedia never booked the room with them and that there were no rooms left. Do not use if you need an itemized receipt for business travel. It is also a bad business model to not notify potential business users that itemized receipts will not be available. “Tough to work with”

Working with Expedia is nor only tough for the consumer but also for a hotel. We own a small hotel and work with a gds provider that was acquired by Expedia, since then we have had many problems working with them. They have forced through 1 night reservations which we do not accept on weekends, it took us a few months to get the correct room pictures aligned with the correct room descriptions, trying to get any of the room restrictions entered was a nightmare. Looked up number online and thought I was calling hotel directly. My mistake was staying on the line when I realized it was Expedia. The person of course used a "american" name but by the accent could tell they were from India area. Due to bringing a dog I wanted to make sure that it was on the reservation. As long as you don't run into an issue with them…they seem to be fine. Just try getting in touch with them to resolve an issue…its like a puzzle and a maze all at once. What a ride. Or should I say nightmare.

Do not book with Expedia/Trivago!!!!!!(same company). I am still owed a refund from August because of a fault on their part. This is my experience with them: I searched for accommodation for 7th-8th August 2015 on Trivago, checking several times that I had searched the correct dates. Chose to book Eden house in Key West. never ever use expedia. customer support virtually non existent. they have a phone number but just don't answer even though im a "valued customer". just use their site to determine airlines departing from particular airports and times and approx price etc. Select airline you like, and go to that airlines web site and use it. much much better!!! just do use expedia!!… Read Full Review

Be very very careful when booking a hotel. Expedia mimics the actual hotel's website, and they do not identify themselves. They very carefully pretend to be the hotel chain. Often, booking through expedia actually costs more. If you have aaa or hilton honors and you inadvertently book through expedia, the discounts cannot be honored. I recently made a hotel booking with Expedia only to discover a month later that they booked the hotel again and charged my card for a second time. Tried to cancel a booking made at the start of the year. I had the booking reference number, name of the booking, hotel and dates. As part of their 'security' questions they asked for the email address and contact phone number as well. I couldn't remember the email so gave them the number, apparently I was one digit wrong (clearly a typo on the booking) and they still wouldn't let me cancel. I used Expedia to rent a car for 4 days, 08/26/15 - 08/30/15. My confirmed charges were $80.31. I was charged $97.01. I called Expedia, 08/31/15. For the next week, I spent over 4 hrs on hold, only to be disconnected by 3 managers. Finally, one manager told me, there was nothing he could do to reimburse my over charge. Expedia has the worst costumer service in the world. I would put less than 1 star if I could. We phoned the costumer service to book a flight since their system wasn't working. After two hours on the phone, they booked our flight, but surprise - they charged us in $USD instead of $CAD, without telling us.
