Their lack of contact with us over a change of flight time and airport, caused us to delay our trip. They then also forgot to tell us until too late that they had also changed our hotel. It took Expedia over 3 months to resolve the complaint. And another time they charged extra to book over the phone, as the website wouldn't take the booking. I called to make a change to my airline flight and was cut off 5 times, put on hold for 30 minutes or more and then told that changes could not be made. Then I was told they could be made, notes put into my itinerary but they were not and the agents mixed up my departure city to San Jose, CA when I was supposed to be travelling to San Jose, Costa Rica. I booked a holiday with Expedia for the 9th of September 2006. It was a holiday to Barcelona for a long weekend. Due to problems getting a Schengen Visa for the trip I had to postpone the holiday. Expedia is a rip-off!
The last thing a weary traveler needs is botched accomodation reservations when arriving for a late check in guaranteed reservation. Beware! This is something that can really leave a bad taste on your whole vacation!
Expedia's level of incompetence, lack of communication, unwillingness to help and follow-up was so terrible, that it's still hard to believe.

I booked a Christmas week in Waikiki six months ago. A couple of days later I upgraded after reading about hotel construction. Expedia was happy to take my money and confirm my itinerary but never bothered to notify the hotel. Now a week before our Christmas vacation I check with the hotel and find I have been allocated a city view with a king size bed. I'm travelling with two teenagers. Not the holiday I paid for. Well, I have to be fair on this one. I was frustrated and unhappy with the agent at Expedia when I was given the run around about my reservations being misplaced. I was told there was no option because of the late date and Christmas bookings. That was going nowhere. I asked to speak to a supervisor. It took several phone calls and a few days, but it appears she was successful in righting the error. I've been assured by the hotel this is the case. If I could find that lady I'd buy her flowers. New advice is confirm early and re-confirm for peace of mind when booking online.

I booked and paid for a night's stay in a hotel in Spain through Expedia. When we arrived at the hotel, they did not have a note of our booking. I spent almost two hours on the phone to Expedia (who refused to call me back), and they eventually offered us a hotel 15 miles out of town at twice the price. I said that was unacceptable and we headed back.

If I had booked the trip thru Travelocity, I could have saved more than 300 dollars with 2 child tickets. I wrote and called Expedia about this, they told me there was nothing they could do. Confirmed reservations that weren't confirmed, "E" tickets that couldn't be picked up without paper tickets that couldn't be issued and a $100 fee for the fictional paper tickets. Total incompetence and flat-out lies from literally every person we spoke to, and there were a lot of calls!
