Expedia has terrible customer services and I've tried to use their services for business travel for an all in one solution and it has cost me close to $1000 in services that were never used. Such as hotel stays and airfare. The customer services reps explain that it's the clients fault and there will be no refunds. Please note that I have ONLY used Expedia to book flights - hotels, cars etc are not included in this review.

I have used Expedia to book flights many times (probably 10ish return flights) over the past few years and every time I have been happy with it. It is a good tool to search for the cheapest light and it often has discounts you can't find from the airlines' websites. I booked a ticket on LOT Polish Airlines, which I had to cancel the day before departure. It was then I learned that I had to pay 50% penalty. I expected a penalty, but this was pretty outrageous. The worst part was that this information was not available when I bought the ticket. I didn't check it in advance, but when I insisted the agent find the exact wording it took her 20 minutes to dig through links and fine print. Complete and utter rip-off merchants. I booked a holiday to Hong Kong at a cost of £1,742. Just 24hrs later, I decided I wanted to change the flights for this package holiday, as they would be connecting in Bangkok and Dubai, destinations with terrorist warnings in place and extremely harsh and corrupt airport immigration policies. They stored mine and my family members' info, so it helped to expedite the booking. i work for expedia.co.uk and expedia do not have any cancelation or changes charges, but the airline do which we may have to pass on. its all in the terms and conditions if you read before booking. Thats why its better to ring up and book through an agent because they will read you all the relavent ts and cs. If you also book a flight no matter which company it is they will only refund you taxes which is very little, all flights are non refundable and thats the airline saying that not expedia

I would never recommend this agency to anyone. I have had several nightmare bookings with Expedia which were never resolved. I lost my money and loads of time and I have learnt my lesson now. Never use them again.

The first involved a hotel room booking at a Hotel that did not exist !! The Ramada was taken over by a no name brand and I found out when I arrived that I was going to stay in a filthy smokers room (I thought I was getting a 4 star nonsmoking room at the Ramada Inn). I booked tickets for Disney Resort Paris for September 2010 and only after making a payment you will receive a link to print off a voucher on which you are told that this voucher is only valid for 6 months!!! This information the customer should get before purchasing anything!! Now it is not even possible to cancel anything!!!

I will never use Expedia again. I usually book through Orbitz and, for the most part, I have a pretty smooth experience, but I decided to use Expedia because a) I thought it was pretty much the same, albeit with a poorly designed user interface, b) because I wanted to get ThankYou points (through Citibank) for the purchase.
