i wil never book any tickets thru expedia since i had a really bad experience.... i had booked the ticket for hawaii on 2nd of dec from SFO to hawaii.... n i just wanted a change in timing of flight. cost of the flight is 50 $ 1way (1 island to another in hawaii) v had booked it for evening n we wanted it to b changed to morning. now they r asking us a fine of 150 $ per ticket.... i prefer buying a ticket of 50$ than 150$.
its totally absurd.... non sense.

Had to cancel a ticket booked through Expedia, due to illness. The ticket itself was use-it-or-loose-it, which was fine. I called the airline (Brussels Airlines) who told me that yep, I wouldn't get any money back for the ticket, but they were required by law to refund the airport tax at least. Nice. However, they couldn't handle the cancellation directly, since it was booked through Expedia, so I called Expedia who refused to pas on the airport tax refund to me, thus converting it to income… Read Full Review

BAIT and SWITCH
Cutomer Service while nice, wasn't helpfull at solving the problem.
*I searched for a ticket, selected it, and was in the proess of booking it.
*After I entered all the information, even my creditcard, I submited to buy the ticket
*A page comes up saying the price went up from the time I entered my address to the time i pressed submit, and that my credit card wasn't charged but the price is now 330 instead of 260

I contacted expedia in july regarding changing the date of travel of our flight tickets and check that our booking was ok. The first 5 or so times that I asked for this I was told that it was not possible (even though the airline continued to tell me that it was and ask again!)
Eventually they relented and upsold the tickets to us to allow us to change the date of travel. We paid for new tickets in late july and were told that the old ones would be refunded within 2-12 weeks. It has not been… Read Full Review

I wouldn't use Expedia for travel anymore. I booked tours in Rome with Appian Tours and ended up on a tour where you couldn't hear anything that that guide said due to faulty equipment. I had another tour with the same company scheduled in 2 days and asked Expedia to switch me to another tour company. They sent me a copy of their policy which says that they do not do changes or refunds unless requested 2 days in advance of when you leave for the trip. Never book through expedia. I booked a flight to California and received my confirmation. I even went into my itinerary on expedia a day before I was supposed to leave. When I arrived at the airport I found out that expedia had booked me on a nonexistent flight. When I called them, they were rude; never apologized for the inconvenience and never reimbursed me. I was quite frustrated with Expedia in getting even a simple record on the fee they charged me upon changing my flight schedule. They were quick to charge the penalties but when I requested a sort of receipt of it, they have never come back to me, even if I called them "four times" and an additional email request. Had to change a flight and ended up paying more than the original flight MORE for a new flight. Thought that the new price they gave me was overall - not an addition to the already paid amount. When I questioned them, they gave me their line of excuses. I made the comment that it would have been cheaper to just cancel and purchase a new ticket. He agreed; couldn't do anything though.

I booked a reservation with the White Barn Inn in Kennebunk, Maine for this upcoming weekend a few weeks ago. I received a confirmation of this reservation from Expedia yesterday. Today, 3 days before my stay, I got an email from a different hotel in Kennebunk, The Yachtsman Lodge, confirmning my reservation. I have NEVER encountered such bad customer service as at Expedia. I booked 4 flights from LAX to Sydney, 2 adult, 2 children. When the Itinerary arrived, there was a misspelling of one of the names. I have used Expedia multiple times a year for several years to book both domestic and foreign travel, air, hotels and rental cars and I have never had a problem, ever. I have changed my arrangements both on-line and by phone, again, never a problem. Over the phone the customer service has consistantly been polite and efficient. As I was searching through google, I did find sites of places where users have had bad experiences with Expedia. However, there are many more users who are satisfied with Expedia, rather than unsatisfied with it. If you really think about it, only people who have had bad experiences with Expedia are likely to complain as opposed to satisfied users who are not likely to write any comment at all. Expedia charged me 2X the going rate for the hotel I stayed in. I did not find out until I was handed a receipt at the end of my stay, apparently a mistake. Do not book through Expedia, the hotel owner told me to always go direct. USA in Cape Cod with expedia.ca.
When we got there, the hotel was closed. Like we discovered later, hotel was closed for few months.When we tried to call expedia. ca, it took us 26 hours to get to them.
They told us that it is not their fault.
We booked the hotel with expedia.ca because we thought that they guarantee the information on their website. But we discovered we were wrong.
