One star is too many for this company! Yes you can get a deal but at a bigger price if you run into a problem. Dealing with Customer Service (don't expect any) is a lost cause. I'm sorry I did not read the many warning before I booked. I find more confort in dealing with the airline direct which I already know is difficult and I don't have to be disappointed. The nice thing about Expedia is that the prices are good and booking is relatively simple. The bad news is that anything goes wrong, the company is impossible to deal with. Despite spending many thousands with Expedia, I found that trying to resolve two problems that could have been easily resolved was a nightmare - one before them was before the volcanic ash cloud imposed inevitable pressure on travel agents, and one after. I am furious with the customer service. I called to change a date on the flight. Simple right? Not at all! I was on hold for an hour and then needed to be transfered to another department that took another 30 minutes. When i finally spoke with someone, the only thing he kept saying was that my best bet would be to cancel my itinerary and create a new one. This is the second time and also the last time I used Expedia. I tried to book 6 fly tickets. There is no way I could check on their website avaibility of the seats so I had to call to book. They had to do 4 reservations instead of one. They transfered me to the airline for no reason when the third reservation was done. I needed to get 2 rooms for 3 adults for a night at a hotel in Memphis, TN. They (expedia) had the right rate and location. It showed me 2 rooms one with a King and one with two Doubles..I thought PERFECT! So I booked them. Then I get the confirmation and it says 1 King is in each room. So I call them up and ask them to change one of the rooms to have the 2 doubles. This was like pulling teeth. I had a trip booked and needed to make a few changes (shorten it by 1 day) and I spend3.5 hours on the phone. I was cut off 3 different times and in the end was unable to make the changes I needed to. It was easier to just not make them. This is pretty crappy since I was trying to get home earlier. Worst booking ever. I successfully booked a hotel room only to have them send me an email the day before check in that the reservations was screwed up.

You send me an email notification for a change in my flight today,05/05/10 @ 15.00 whilst traveling tomorrow @ 1735.The email was saying:

We bought flights online for two adults and our 3months son through expedia for london to new york. confirmed email. "no need to contact". turned up at the airport and the airline said that expedia hadnt issued our sons ticket. then spent 1.5 hours on or mobile phones to them before being cut off with no answer. the only way of getting them to pick up the phone was to press the option to buy a new ticket. I booked a hotel in a town 1 hour away - it was a get-a-way weekend for myself and my husband. The day of our trip, tornados ripped through our state and immense flooding came. There was so much rain and flooding that the interstates were shut down and we could not get there. I booked through Expedia b/c I thought it was a good deal. In the end is was slightly less but not sure it was worth the hassle. Expedia has terrible customer services and I've tried to use their services for business travel for an all in one solution and it has cost me close to $1000 in services that were never used. Such as hotel stays and airfare. The customer services reps explain that it's the clients fault and there will be no refunds. I have used Expedia to book flights many times (probably 10ish return flights) over the past few years and every time I have been happy with it. It is a good tool to search for the cheapest light and it often has discounts you can't find from the airlines' websites.
