Written on: 15/04/2008 by pollypip2004 (1 review written)

No rep at the airport, I had to find my coach amongst 50 others, had to wait till ALL flights for the day had landed(over 2 hours in the carpark) got to the hotel at 1:30am (should have been 10pm), could not even get a glass of water. Hotel smelt of sewage throughout. I was told by Expedia that my hold luggage would cost £18 for the round trip, it was £36. A complete waste of money
Would rate it zero but can not submit this without a rating… Read Full Review

“We tried to change the flight and according to...”

Written on: 10/04/2008

We tried to change the flight and according to information, you have to find a flight and call them. When you call it will take at least 20 to 30 minutes for them to answer (If you are lucky, call may get disconnected after waiting for 20 minutes). When they answer the price is no longer valid for them. They increase the price of the same ticket and force you to get that adding change charge and processing fee.
Other sites have better pricing without booking fees. Use them… Read Full Review

Prices on Expedia are directly connected to the flight consolidators and it is in real time. the booking engine of expedia is directly based on the prices on these consolidators. the penalties for changes are actually imposed by the airlines; look it up and you can see that airlines do charge penalties for changes from $50-200, depending on the airline and the destination. it is not true that other sites do not charge booking fee, otherwise how would they maintain operations if they won't charge a fee for using their service? whether you go directly to the airlines or hotels or use online booking engines, there will be a booking fee-- that's a fact. If you don't want to be charged booking fees, then go learn sabre and get a license as a travel agent, which will cost you thousands. Cannot blame you for the long holds, though, yes it sucks.

“My fiance and I scheduled our honeymoon through...”

Written on: 10/04/2008 by tedbergeson (1 review written)

My fiance and I scheduled our honeymoon through expedia.com. honeymoons are supposed to be special right? We have bought and purchased a direct flight to Mexico at 9am. Now, somehow we are leaving the airport at 6am, the day after my wedding (ladies you understand) and we have to take a connecting flight where we only have 40 minutes to get on. I just hope our honeymoon is ruined because of this. The least expedia can do is bump us to first class because of this. It is my honeymoon… Read Full Review

Written on: 08/04/2008 by bailey123 (1 review written)

I would like to say they gave us a good rate on an all inclusive to Mexico. However, you do not know what you are buying until after they have taken you money, which is when they change your flight schedule to includes a connecting flight that you did not know you were purchasing, and you now spend 13 hours travelling on day one of your trip instead of the expected 4 hours. Just pray you don't miss your check in time window at your hotel, because they WILL give your room away and make you… Read Full Review

Expedia does not operate an airline and has no capacity to just suddenly change the flights you already have paid for. Expedia does not process the booking and return to you a confirmation page unless it gets confirmation from the airline's server itself, otherwise you will just get an error if it is not available. blame the airline for changing the flights, not expedia.

Written on: 03/04/2008

We had a flight change, due to the airline, but Expedia accepted the flight change without our knowledge. The were unhelpful and clueless about trying to change the flights to ones closer to our original requirements. We had to call at least 8 times to sort this out and had to actually contact the airline ourselves to sort the mess out… Read Full Review

In the first place, you should have contacted the airline for that as it was already out of expedia's hands. The airline confirmed your booking through expedia and have agreed to have you on that particular flight. The airline has the responsibility to inform you of the changes as expedia submits your info to them while processing the booking. additionally, the airline should be responsible to offer you alternatives if you do not want the flight they have exchanged your original flights with.

Written on: 31/03/2008

When flying out of LAX for a wedding, there was some confusion regarding my flight booked through Expedia and no one at the US Airways counter would help me. I finally found Expedia's customer service number, called them and, by this point, had missed my flight (partially due to US Airways not helping). Expedia's attitude was essentially "it's not our fault, too bad for you." I was patched through to a manager, told they were busy and it would take a some time before I could speak with the… Read Full Review

Written on: 25/03/2008 by cwt6 (1 review written)

I bought two tickets for Orlando in January. Expedia immediately charged my card for over $1200. Easter weekend I got an email saying United had "changed my itinerary". The change, as I listened to an automated itinerary, was, we were now booked at 8.30am out of Orlando to fly to Denver; and at the same moment, we were booked to fly 8.30am out of Denver to Vancouver! I called Expedia and they said they did not screw up - Frontier did. They called United (while I was on hold for ages) United… Read Full Review

Aren't you supposed to reconfirm your reservation (at least) 24H prior to departure? That's a general rule on domestic flights right?

Written on: 19/03/2008 by jimbunker (1 review written)

We arrived for our hotel reservation at 12:30am. The front desk was closed for the night. Eventually we found a security guard that found us a clerk to help us check in. But there was no room for us (even though we had pre-paid). The resort had no record of a booking through Expedia.ca. Expedia.ca was unpleasant about the situation and made a half hearted attempt to help us find an alternate room. Expedia.ca says they are processing a credit (it is now a month after our booking night, and… Read Full Review

Written on: 13/03/2008 by dilliwalli (1 review written)

Last November, I booked and paid for airline tickets on Expedia.ca for my husband and I to travel to Beijing for the Olympics. The tickets were issued and sent to us.

One leg of our flight had us traveling from New Delhi to Beijing on Air China. In December, Expedia sent us an auto e-mail to advise that our flight was confirmed, but that the itinerary had been updated.

This is the last time Expedia contacted us.

In early February, my husband called the Expedia call centre to enquire about… Read Full Review

I've used Expedia for years both nationally and internationally. I've never had too much of a problem (not seated together was frequent though). Then I had a problem and called them from an airport. My trip was all screwed up and the rep had the nastiest attitude. I had been shuttle all over between airports, missed a day of vacation due to delays and this woman was not nice. When I got home I emailed in great detail what happened to Expedia and how displeased I was. Guess what? I got a form… Read Full Review

Written on: 01/03/2008

I booked 2 overseas flights with Expedia. Everything was supposedly booked until I received an email notification that I needed to contact Expedia immediately to re-book a flight the airline had cancelled. Not a problem, happens all the time. I spent a week trying to get a hold of a representative spending at least 4 hours on the phone trying to get in touch with someone at Expedia on each day. I tried calling at different hours and it was the same problem. I finally called the airline and… Read Full Review

Written on: 29/02/2008

Limited to 5000 characters it may be difficult to express our dissatisfaction with Expedia. We recently booked two separate itineraries to Orlando, the first party of three departing on 2/13. A lone traveller was set to depart on 2/15. On 2/14, I received email that the first leg had been cancelled by Continental Airlines and to contact Expedia. I was then told after calling that the itinerary was cancelled at the traveller's request (which, as all of her family was in Orlando and she was… Read Full Review

I purchased a ticket for myself and my infant child for whom I paid full price. I asked to be seated together. I received my email confirmation today and it shows that my baby and I are seated separate. After two hours on the phone with Expedia and Delta I was told that even though I've indicated that I am traveling with an infant child my seating arrangement is not guaranteed. My issue has not been resolved and Expedia or DELTA are not willing to change the seating because they don't have any… Read Full Review

I booked my hotel/flight over the phone. When I received the email confirmation they had booked the wrong flight. I spent several hours trying to correct the error they made, either speaking to several different people, waiting on hold, or for a return phone call. Finally, everything got sorted out and I booked another flight/hotel. I checked my account after the original, wrong trip was "cancelled". I had to call back, to my surprise they had not cancelled the flight. The lady I talked to did… Read Full Review
