If flying with EasyJet, expedia will charge you £10 each way for each suitcase you take with you. They do not tell you this in any way, shape or form before you travel. It cost us £40 to check in our cases (return). Not recommended… Read Full Review

Please be advised that expedia does not operate the airline. It is the airline who charges for baggages and also, it is your responsibility to check if the airline does charge additional fees other than the fare. Expedia does advise you on the process of booking that the airline may charge extra fees not included in the total price.

“I booked a vacation package to New York through...”

Written on: 20/06/2008

I booked a vacation package to New York through Expedia that included airfare, hotel accommodations, and transportation to and from the airport. It was by far the worst travel experience I have ever had. My flight was scheduled to leave on Thursday morning at 6:30 am. When I booked the vacation package, I had a business meeting in New York on Thursday afternoon. The meeting was rescheduled for Thursday morning, so I attempted to reschedule my departing flight to Wednesday. Prior to booking… Read Full Review

Written on: 27/05/2008 by carollynn59 (1 review written)

I cannot say enough Bad things about the hotel we got through Expedia. I know that I will never use this website again to book a hotel unless they can assure me that places such as this are taken off their website. It was a terrible experience and I hope that nobody has to go through that again. There is absolutely nothing good to say about it, not one. We did not stay there in the end. There was no way we could. We couldn't even sit on the furnitire or the bed it was that bad. The smell… Read Full Review

I was told by the Phone rep for Expedia that I was purchasing a REFUNDABLE ticket. Lo and behold, when I tried to get a refund...Nope. They said I should have read the rules (After putting me on hold for over an hour). I tried to explain I was verbally told, explicitly by their rep that I was purchasing a refundable ticket, however no refund, thanks Expedia!… Read Full Review

hmm. file a complaint and expedia will dig their call recordings and surely from there will be able to pinpoint who the rep was. Of course, you know what comes next with that rep.

Written on: 21/05/2008

I purchased a plane ticket through Expedia for 763.00 from Florida to Arkansas. Well I didn't check in early enough for them. So Delta marked me as a no show 20 mins before the plane took off. They told me to call expedia who I bookoed it through. Expedia said sorry your whole ticket is now void. You can't even pay out of pocket to get to Arkansas and be able to take this ticket to fly back. I cant even fly back on the ticket I spent 763.00 on? Nope, sorry. I will never book through expedia… Read Full Review

I had cancelled a ticket from Kuwait to Bangkok, trying to get a refund well it has been 4 months, today. I called several times over the last month keep getting the run around and that they will forward the info to the manager, well today I called told them I was done with that and wanted a manager. I waited 40 mins and hung up, called back waited 1 hour, hung up there is no way to contact a manager if you have a problem will never use them again. Simply, airlines don't give refunds for coach class fares. If you wanted to have a refunds, you should have booked first class. This is the rule of the airlines, and expedia can't do anything about it. Run after the airlines instead. Don't expect expedia to open up the heavens for you on a predicament which you have initiated yourself in the first place. Always read the rules and restriction, and it is standard among airlines for economy/coach/business class fares to be non-refundable.

I tried to book a return Flight the booking was unsuccessful because of a problem with the tour operator but regardless of that they do a pre authorisation on your card. “I recently booked a flight with Expedia and later...”

Written on: 16/05/2008 by madashell (1 review written)

I recently booked a flight with Expedia and later needed to change my itinerary. My change required I fly out of a different city. I was informed by Expedia that I would have to forfeit my current flight book a new one. The reason is because they told me I had to book with the same airline in order to change my flight. Since the airline does not fly out of the city I need, they won't help me in any way. They offered me a credit for the old flight, but I'd have to use the original airline… Read Full Review

The Expedia Promise: We are here for you every step of the way!
NOT REALLY!
I was checked in on a flight to Norway from Fargo, ND but was delayed in security which made me miss my flight. My suitcases went with the flight though. After talking to 6 different people at Expedia for a total of more that 4 hours, I finally "got" to pay $600 to change my flight. Now I have a flight 4 days later and my suitcases are at Chicago unitill I pick them up!

Expedia booked my hotel in Auckland, NZ, and quoted a certain price. Then when I checked out, I learn the price had been increased. I complained to Expedia and got no help. I said I'd never book with Expedia again. I didn't but unknowingly found hotels.com is an Expedia company. I booked a hotel in Dublin. It went out of business and told me I'd receive my money back. I haven't even though I've written twice to hotels.com. I'll never use Expedia or hotels.com again… Read Full Review

Written on: 07/05/2008

I booked a flight for this July to Norway on SAS. I was unable to choose my seats through Expedia, so after the flight was confirmed I went to the SAS sight to revise my seats. SAS requires a six-digit reservation PNR number to both revise seats and confirm the flight 72 hours in advance. So I sent a message to Expedia's Customer Service to ask for the number.
The first representative simply told me to read my itinerary. The second response gave me another invalid number, and told me to… Read Full Review

Unless you don't know how to read, you can actually find the PNR codes, which mostly are letters and not numbers, on the details of your itinerary. Don't blame the agent for you laziness on going over your itinerary or confirmation email. and about that airline's rep, he/she should have been able to pull up your PNR on their system by just asking for your name, date of flight, and origin and destination airports.

Nothing is good with Expedia. I booked twice with Expedia and had a horrible experience. They booked hotels for a different date and I had to go a whole night without sleep. You are the ones who booked them, expedia only helped you do it-- and even gave you discounted rates compared to booking directly with the hotel. You should have done a research first on the hotel or reviewed everything before submitting the booking.

If you have to change a flight expect to spend at least an hour of your time on the phone. This happened twice.
My third miserable experience with them (1 hour 12 min.) went like this. I called Airtran to get seats assigned. They said I had no reservations for the changed flight. When I went to the Airtran website it showed that my trip was completed and past. However on the Expedia site, my reservation was showing confirmed with the new travel date for the same record locator. I called… Read Full Review

No rep at the airport, I had to find my coach amongst 50 others, had to wait till ALL flights for the day had landed(over 2 hours in the carpark) got to the hotel at 1:30am (should have been 10pm), could not even get a glass of water. Hotel smelt of sewage throughout. I was told by Expedia that my hold luggage would cost £18 for the round trip, it was £36. A complete waste of money

Written on: 10/04/2008

We tried to change the flight and according to information, you have to find a flight and call them. When you call it will take at least 20 to 30 minutes for them to answer (If you are lucky, call may get disconnected after waiting for 20 minutes). When they answer the price is no longer valid for them. They increase the price of the same ticket and force you to get that adding change charge and processing fee.
Other sites have better pricing without booking fees. Use them… Read Full Review

Prices on Expedia are directly connected to the flight consolidators and it is in real time. the booking engine of expedia is directly based on the prices on these consolidators. the penalties for changes are actually imposed by the airlines; look it up and you can see that airlines do charge penalties for changes from $50-200, depending on the airline and the destination. it is not true that other sites do not charge booking fee, otherwise how would they maintain operations if they won't charge a fee for using their service? whether you go directly to the airlines or hotels or use online booking engines, there will be a booking fee-- that's a fact. If you don't want to be charged booking fees, then go learn sabre and get a license as a travel agent, which will cost you thousands. Cannot blame you for the long holds, though, yes it sucks.

My fiance and I scheduled our honeymoon through expedia.com. honeymoons are supposed to be special right? We have bought and purchased a direct flight to Mexico at 9am. Now, somehow we are leaving the airport at 6am, the day after my wedding (ladies you understand) and we have to take a connecting flight where we only have 40 minutes to get on. I just hope our honeymoon is ruined because of this. The least expedia can do is bump us to first class because of this. It is my honeymoon… Read Full Review

I would like to say they gave us a good rate on an all inclusive to Mexico. However, you do not know what you are buying until after they have taken you money, which is when they change your flight schedule to includes a connecting flight that you did not know you were purchasing, and you now spend 13 hours travelling on day one of your trip instead of the expected 4 hours. Expedia does not operate an airline and has no capacity to just suddenly change the flights you already have paid for. Expedia does not process the booking and return to you a confirmation page unless it gets confirmation from the airline's server itself, otherwise you will just get an error if it is not available. blame the airline for changing the flights, not expedia.

In the first place, you should have contacted the airline for that as it was already out of expedia's hands. The airline confirmed your booking through expedia and have agreed to have you on that particular flight. The airline has the responsibility to inform you of the changes as expedia submits your info to them while processing the booking. additionally, the airline should be responsible to offer you alternatives if you do not want the flight they have exchanged your original flights with.
