I have an account with Enterprise and have used there services about 5-6 times in the last two months alone and my work is becoming more demanding which means that I'll be on the road a lot more often in 2013.....but do Enterprise care about customer loyalty or customer service....NO. I was given a complimentary car from the Enterprise branch in Hawthorn, Cardiff when someone wrote my vehicle off in a car park. As soon as the insurance had worked something out I had a call from Enterprise and picked the car up that day. It was a new Corsa, very clean and the staff were really friendly. “Simply the worst car rental experience”

My car broke down and as part of the recovery service by BMW, I was offered a rental car from Enterprise. In hindsight, I wish I had just walked. The guy from BMW said that Enterprise would be in touch in the next 10 mins and sort something out within the next 2 hours. I feel obliged to add that since posting this, I did email the UK MD ,explaining my plight and was very promptly contacted by Enterprise who were very interested in my story. I explained in more detail, they apologised and promised to investigate further. I am really pleased with this, and think that despite my not so good experience, at least the senior management were willing to listen, apologise and vow to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully they will go some way in eradicating some of the poor experiences people have. Thankyou Enterprise for the response I got.

“Enterprise just went from heroes to zeroes!”

I hired a car from enterprise in the Sheffield branch end of august 2012. Took the family for a holiday in wales, the staff at the branch were amazing. “Worst Customer Service In History”

I Hired A Car From Enterprise Car Rental In West Croydon For 31 Days With Absolutely No Discount. At The Time Of Hire The Attendant Put In Petrol Which Was Less Than A Quarter But Stated In The Contract That It Was A Quarter. When I Drove The Car, I Realized He Had Scammed Me. “Scam & aweful customer service”

I rented a car from eastleigh branch for a week. Then for the second week I asked for discount they said we give discount for the third week. But they charged me full price for the third week. Also when I returned the car washed ( paied £10) and clean. But with my bad luck they found a nail in the front tyre. They charged me £60 on spot. “Check the tyres”

We hired a car from Manchester Airport and thoroughly checked for scratches etc ensuring they were recorded on the hire document. On returning the car the Enterprise guy pointed out a small metal object in one tyre, this appeared to be a nail. We were duly billed £93 for a new tyre. Be warned, therefore, that you should insist on fully inspecting the tyres before declaring you are happy with them. I have just had exactly the same thing happen to me...my hire car arrived at 1820 at night, approx 7 hours after requesting it...the lady delivering took me round the car in the pitch black with a torch to look for scratches, bumps, dents...I pointed out the alloys were badly kerbed which she acknowledged...I drove a total of 20-odd miles in the 3 days I had it, dropped it back off at the BMW dealership where my car has been repaired...Enterprise call the next day to say I there is a chunk out of a tyre and they are taking the £250 excess off my card....I told them categorically it wasn't me and not to take anything off at which point they said 'bye' and hung up...I have driven it for less than an hour and would know if I had kerbed it...they won't accept it and say I signed a piece of paper saying nothing is wrong with it and now there is...to put it mildly, I am not happy...the whole experience has been shocking...the branch manager is simply rude (even before the car arrived)...I will be getting in touch with Enterprise at a higher level to point all this out...

“Rip-off”

I rented a cabrio for 24.30 hours. De total cost where USD 200,-. This was in part because the rental guy said I was obliged to get a DMW for USD 30 a day (as a foreigner I didn't know this was optional). And in part because they only had 24 hour rates. Hired a car from their Hammersmith branch on 03/09/2012. Absolutely no problems there, staff very friendly so seemed like it was a good company to go to. Was given their rental agreement which did indicate that there was some minor damage to the car (I couldn't really see it as i didnt really look hard enough and wasn't really that bothered as I needed to get going) Paid a £50 deposit which I was told that as long as there was no damage to the car, I would receive it back. When I had taken out the vehicle it was because my own car was getting fixed at the a certain car garage in Richmond.

I was informed by the employee (who is unfortunately no longer with the company) that when my car is fixed, I could just take the hire vehicle to the Car garage and swop it over with my own car, without the need to inform enterprise.

Contacted enterprise just now and once the employee looked at his notes he couldn't tell me why I had been invoiced as I had even received my deposit back.

He put me through to damage recovery.

This is where it gets REALLY bad!!

The lady I spoke to at damage recover said that it is in my rental agreement that I am liable for any damage until enterprise has the vehicle back (covering up for the inspection being done 11 days after it was returned)

I explained that the enterprise employee had not explained this to me and as far as I was concerned the vehicle had been returned once I took it to the Car garage.

The response was "do you always sign things without reading the small print"

???????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said that I'm not paying as I'm not responsible for any damage, I had returned the vehicle in the same condition and as I had been instructed to.

Was told that this would be passed to debt recovery.

So now I've even got bailiffs after me.

All because I went to enterprise.

I have been contacted by care at enterprise so will give them all info and see what they say.

Will keep you posted.

I was charged £260 to replace a £15 part. I rented a van from Enterprise. As I was returning the vehicle, a bus clipped the wing mirror and popped off the rear cover. The rest of the wing mirror wasn't damaged, the glass wasn't cracked. I told the branch what happened and they said they had to send off the van to replace the cover. The cover can be bought for £15 or less. A few days later I was told that the garage had replaced the whole wing mirror and that I was to be charged £260!… Read Full Review

After a week of phone calls, I was finally told the reason I was charged £260 to replace a £15 part.

Enterprise could only buy a replacement part from their preferd vendor. This vendor did not sell the £15 part on it's own, they only sold a complete wing mirror assembly that cost £130. Then there was more labour to replace the whole wing mirror compared to replacing just the cover so £15 went to £260.

I feel I have been penalized for following the correct procedure. I could have not told them of the accident and bought a genuine Ford rear cover and replaced it myself. One of their coordinators even agreed with me on this point!

I am a very dissatisfied customer. I will not use your company again and I will tell my families and friends to do likewise.

“What a scam”

I booked a car in gilroy, ca. Final price without insurance was $80, with the insutsnce i got it should have came out to $160 at the most. When I got to the location they upgraded my car for an additional $10, just to find out when I came back, that final bill was $240. They scammed us and would not credit anything back. “Difficulty returning deposit”

I rented a car from Enterprise, picking up from Edinburgh Airport for four days. On arriving at the airport and going to collect the car both representatives were dealing with one customer and so there was a wait to be seen compared to the other rental companies around. The car itself was a great car and so no complaints there. The trouble came when it was time for Enterpirse to return the deposit. “customer service as fictional as star trek”

Customer service shocking, staff have a very cavalier attitude and no sense of time. I received a call to say that they would collect me in 10 minutes, which became 30 minutes and even then we had to drop a member of their staff off somewhere first. I called to make a reservation for a car in Donegal Airport in Ireland. Spoke to a lovely lady in the UK reservations centre called Tracy. She took a while to find the branch and we had a bit of a laugh as she could not pronounce it. She gave me an excellent rate and I booked it over the phone. I had a booking made under enterprise for coventry, as as per instructions received i.e. ALL DRIVERS MUST PROVIDE A VALID DRIVERS LICENCE AND PHOTO ID (PASSPORT OR DRIVERS LICENCE) IF LICENCE IS THE OLDER PAPER STYLE.
