“Average or good? Took my time to decide.. ”

Been using LateRooms for a number of years on and off. On balance I decided to make it good rather than average... but with reservations. Obviously certain hotels have rooms almost designated for LateRooms rates, and I have stayed in some right dumps through LateRooms... but conversely where the scheme has been genuinely used by hotels to clear unused rooms, I have had some real bargains as well. Four stars is my final answer but maybe I'm being a little bit harsh [there's no option for 4 & 1/2]. A straightforward website that let's you see the best value hotels against your preferred location. If you want to treat someone then all the options are there as well. I book lots of hotels and use 2 online booking agencies. Both are simple to use and I book approximately 50% with each. The confirmation e-mail is nearly always through before I have exited the web page. Very easy to use and will use again and again in the future… Read Full Review

“Good basic accommodation search site”

This site is one of many providing a basic search facility for accommodation (cheap). It by no means covers all the options in an area, so a call to the local tourist information office would be advised in addition. Not all places listed will have rooms available even though they say they do. I have also been charged in advance for accommodation where it specifically said no charge prior to arrival. I discovered Laterooms about 4 years ago, I travel a lot and need to find best value for money when booking a hotel, Lateroooms gives you simple filter methods to allow you to select your exact requirements. You tend to get really fussy once you have found great deals, now I will travel 20 plus miles to achieve exactly what I need from a hotel. We we're informed on arrival that our room had been upgraded to a larger apartment which proved to be in the basement and opposite the plant room. It was quite noisy at night with street noise. “Ruined holiday due to Late Rooms incompetence.”

I booked a weekend away with Late Rooms a full 12 months in advance in order to visit the Midland Game Fair near Telford on Friday, September 14 and Saturday September 15. The booking was amended over the 12 months period and 'e mails' sent back and forth. When our party arrived at the hotel no bookings had been made by Late Rooms for any of the 4 rooms required and no hotels available anywhere around for 50 miles. It's such a shame that your trip was ruined so spectacularly. Unfortunately Laterooms are a brooker and don't manage hotels or their rooms. I know this from working at a 4* hotel in the Lake district that was run by an incompetent owner who was constantly double booked and blamed laterooms as a scapegoat for said incompetence. We also now use them for our guest house for out of season bookings. Your best port of call is with the hotel, they should be reinbursing you for their mistake. They receive full booking details at the point that you made the booking by both email and fax. At this stage they should update their own booking systems, if not....

Trip advisor is something that you should mention in your dealings with the hotel. Always check with hotels (by email if poss) that your room is confirmed - even if you already have a booking reference number. So many businesses are using booking sites/brokers that they lose track of what's been booked. Once you get an email back from them they can't use an external agency as an excuse for their own inadequacies. Hope that helps!

“Error message during booking”

I tried to book a hotel room through Laterooms. When I tried to complete and finalize my reservation I received an error message. I entered my information again and tried to book and received another error message. I believed there was a problem with the Laterooms website and gave up and booked at another site. I now have a charge card bill for two rooms booked through Laterooms. I never received any confirmation on this booking only the error message. I had no idea that I had booked two… Read Full Review

Emails sent on 19/9 bounced back with an error message and unfortunately they haven't been able to get through via the contact phone number on the booking information.
