We got virgin in august 2011 and it worked pretty well for about 2 weeks, then it just stopped, with no explanation at all. Can't even load webpages, and this isn't just at peak time, even in the morning and midday its absolutely horrible.Called virgin in November and they said it would be fixed by January 2012 ITS NOW NOVEMBER 2012 and it's even worse, POOR quality and service, Richard Branson should take a look into what he is selling to his customers… Read Full Review

“rip off merchants not giving what is being paid for”

I pay for fastest broadband and don,t get it. Always slow. Isn,t that ilegal. They are breaking their contract with us so that means it is null and void. Cowboys! Their Helpdesk is a disgrace, no-ever believes what you tell them. My 30MB drops to 0.3 EVERY evening from 17:00 to 22:00 which make it redundant as a service because that is the only time I am there to use it. They do not believe it to be a problem but check our their support forums! It is rammed full of people all with the same issue and it still isn't taken seriously. I agree with above. Virgin are milking customers for money. I am now paying for 60GB service and getting less than 10 - usually 5!. The service is less reliable than when I was on 2MB with good old Telewest! Its been downhill ever since - except for the prices. Branson should be ashamed!

I agree that whatever the quality of the product (which is below average by the way) they are the most obnoxious people I've ever had to deal with.
Best way is to get rid of them as soon as you can if you ever made a deal with them.
On top of that they never hesitate to bill you for anything that all the loopholes in their terms allow them to. With the great benediction of Cisas, Ofcom or other clowns who don't give a damn about protecting customers in the UK.

Have been a VM customer for years (TV and BB). Service has almost always been reliable and as advertised. Speed almost always within 10% of advertised. When I had a speed issue two years ago, response was swift, issue identified as an area issue. Took about 10 days to fix, but as compensation given two months free service. “What a rip off”

I have been with virgin media now for two years, broadband is slow TV is always freezing and the phone works sometimes. This has all happened in the last 8 months, i complain about the slow broadband an engineer comes round fixes the problem, stating that for some reason i have been downgraded in the junction box. I left BT to come to Virgin seriously do not even go there for the so called BT Infinity fibre optic ,you think virgin is bad offft I have been with BT, Sky, Plusnet now virgin I hate to say but they are way better,

Regarding your connection I started with them on the 10th of September had nothing but faults 4 engineers later and many remote accesses it got fixed on the 20th October mind you 3 superhubs later fault on street and a manger technician visit got it sorted. If you can call during the day (week) you'll get someone over here.

They will eventually fix it

“Unreliable at the best of times, now down for over a week!”

“Do not fall for marketing hype. Broadband quality...”

I've been with VM for around 3 years. For the last year the service has become unusable during evenings and weekends (when you want to use the service really). My speed should be 20Mb download. I've been receiving speeds of only 0.15Mb at these times and packet loss is running at around 20%. Pingtest.net rates my connection as an F. I can't even watch a video on YouTube! I have been with Virgin since the days of Blueyonder when the service was excellent! However over the last 12 months during the day I get speeds as low as 0.01 (on a 60mb connection) and havn't seen over 1mb during peak hours for a long time. I have to work from home a few days a month. I connect to my office by VPN so got the 30mb package. Since day one it is rubbish. If the broadband is even on it's slow and unusable. “100Mbps lol don't make me laugh”

Been on cable for 11 years, originally with NTL which had its problems but was great 90% of the time. The service has got worse over time, and now its Virgin media, it is at an all time low. I was on a 50Mbps service, which was reasonably stable, but since the double speed upgrade to 100Mbps, it has become terrible. I have made mistakes in my life, but the biggest mistake i will ever regret always is getting into a contract with Virginmedia. This company is so rubbish it is so unbelieveable. The worst home phone and broadband provider in this 21st Century. I have had all problems too mentioned in all previous comments on here. When you complain the customer service agents don't care. They would rather argue back and make you look like your a liar. The hidden charges, the none contact about changes or charges the list goes on. How this company is getting away with such theft, customer abuse, illegal practices, lies etc.

“Solving the problem - it's the 'Super Hub' router!”
