I booked a flight with Thomas cook to fly from work to my home in Thailand where I have resided for the last 7 years. I requested for a ticket that I could change the return date so I could return to work in the spring. But when I went to change the return date the airline told me this was a discount ticket and that I could not change the return date. What a mistake!! Both me and my family checked the reviews on this site and still booked, being told my friends the flight was fine and they had no delays yet here I am!! Delayed for eighteen hours!! with a 6 pound voucher for food or drink (non alcholic) in the airport where a drink costs almost as much! We were at checkout 3 hours early because Thomas Cook couldn't guarantee that myself and my family couldn't sit together on the ten and half hour flight (when we get on it) to Cuba!!! The entire service I received was fantastic from start to finish, the staff were very helpful and friendly at both ends of the holiday Thomas Cook had friendly staff, all very helpful and polite, they gave us a comfortable and clean journey, no problems with flight times delays or set backs, all was up and running on time, staff were there on the other side to greet us from our flight and point us in the right direction which was most useful! Thomas Cook sell holidays with the reassurance of a great Customer Service. In my experience Thomas Cook customer service does not exist and is basically tinsel on a Christmas Tree. I could not get through on the phone and was kept waiting in a line till they bored me to leave.

Booked Caribbean cruise x 2 weeks. Specifically asked first about baggage allowance - I bag up to 30Kg or 2 x 20 Kg. or 2 x 23 Jg depending on airline. (Medical reasons for needing this allowance). Turns out we have 1 x 20Kg. They took two deposits as cruises were 'back to back' and we have had to cancel and lose £400 to T. Cook. Customer services non-existent.

I booked a cruise online through Thomas Cook, paid on time in shop as advised I could in my letter and because no-one answering at call centre although I was paying 10p per minute to hold on and they lost my payment for 8 weeks leaving me stressed and wondering where the £9000 I had paid had gone. Pushed from online to shop and back again lots of times. Finally resolved when I consulted a lawyer but still waiting for a reply from customer relations, which is a joke. What an appalling company!!!! I complained to their customer services dept, waited 28 days for first reply then they said another 28 days !!! I sent them another mail which was not nice I must say (but the truth). They have totally ignored me. I re sent the message again but no reply again. Holiday was in June. I wrote to the customer service department when I returned from my holiday - the end of August - and so far all I have received (last week) was an acknowledgment of my letter - no I'm sorry that's not quite true I did receive a letter in September saying 'Welcome back - did you have a good time". I sent an email to Thomas Cook customer services asking them to justify the high cost of the tickets three weeks ago and have so far had no reply. This I consider far worse than the ticket price as it implies TC are not interested in satisfying there customers so long as they can fleece them once they have got 'em. 16/10/08. Been back a week now from our Thomas Cook California and the Glorious West 2 week holiday and it was just amazing, every hotel we stayed in was perfect, every location sensational and the places we stayed on route to each city/town were lovely. Our tour guide was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for him. He was very informative about all our locations and just made the whole experience so special for us. Just back from Luxor, holiday was good but Thomas Cook was disastrous! Only one rep in the hotel for only one hour of the day. The rep is only in certain days which you will not know until he does not show up. Excursions are over priced, inconvenient times and limited choice compared to the non UK Thomas Cook in hotel. We had been to the Hotel twice previously in 2003 and 2004, with Thomson ' s. However, this time as Thomson ' s no longer use the hotel we chose Thomas Cook - Mistake.
Firstly, I paid our deposit by credit card in December, and Thomas Cook took the whole amount for the holiday in although our holiday was not until September. I did manage to have this refunded eventually.

My wife and I have booked to go to Las Vegas on 22nd October this year. I have paid £400 extra to go premium economy, only to find out that for 12 hours we will not be sitting together on the flight. I find this absolutely appalling as the whole point was to have extra leg room and seats together. Now I am told that if I do want the 2 remaining seats together I will have to pay an extra £40. On the whole Thomas Cook are fine. However, I had a few problems with some of the reps and stewardesses who were ignorant and rude. As we were boarding the coach for the return flight the rep didn't even ask me for my details or tell me which coach to get on, even though she walked straight past me twice. Furthermore, on the flight home i was uncomfortable (being quite tall) and asked a stewardess if i could move to a vacant seat with more legroom and got no answer. So I had to make do. Just got back from Cala Bona. Hotel consult, hotel and staff marvelous. Which is more that can be said about Thomascook rep's. I was going to hire a car from hotel (130 euro) for 3 days. The rep said he could get me one for (99 euro) all in. I cannot remember exact price but it was nearly (220euro) I was unable to get in touch with rep so with the help of hotel reception we rang the main office. Took hours and hours to get through to a person who could help and then they couldn't give me the hotel originally offered because it was by then (2 hours) later and ' not available'.
