“A nightmare”

After a nine-hour flight, we arrived at Europcar in Rome to a crowd of people and were told by others in the crowd to take a number and that the system had broken down. We were number 102 ... and without adequate seating, many of us had to sit on the floor to wait. After three hours (!), it was our turn, and the car we had prereserved (an Audi 3) wasn't available. I recently rented a vehicle from Europcar at Faro Airport on June 07th 2015 and had booked a mini elite category, we got to check in and they wanted to give me a Peugeot 208, I booked a mini elite because I wanted a Fiat 500, I explained this and eventually they brought us a Fiat 500 so that was fine, but it left us late to meet with our apartment lady. Old fleet, not from Europcar but from a third party, terrible customer service who seem to suggest you should do their job for them. All in all a company to avoid when booking a holiday rental as once they have your money......? Contacted UK and they said they would respond within 10 days ie,when the rental was over. “My Daughters Review -"You Suck - 1.5 hours to rent a...”

“Not worthy of your Busines”

Poor Customer Service. Poor Corporate Dispute resolution. I believe they intentional with hold information so that they can tack on additional charges and fees. Then on the day they inform you of these additional charges, they tell you can contact them to dispute the charges, but turns out they have already charged your Credit Card. I was accused for not returning the car with full tank when I just filled it up before I returned. They took 3 weeks to come back to me for the deduction on my debit card. Slow in responding and I had to chase for a reply and only issue an invoice after almost a month of returning the car. most of all, the fuel charges was really ridicules as I am 100% sure and certain it was full. but they just charged without notifying me at all. nonsense!… Read Full Review

“Family with children stuck in highway for 5hours”

We rented a Volkswagen 7 seater but was advised to rent a FIAT 7 seater upon arrival cos it's more spacious. We paid extra GBP360 and waited an hour for the FIAT to arrive. The car broke down within an hour on highway A40. After many calls to Europcar breakdown division to inform them that the gearbox is not working, they put us through to FIAT service team. “Theft”

We dropped our car off at Europecar Bristol airport at about 5am, posted the keys in the mail box. Walked up the steps into the airport security realised the ipad was still on the floor of the car. Emailed Europecar from the airport to say the ipad was still in the car, please hold it and it would be picked up. Surprise surprise, we were told there was no ipad left in the car. Absolutely disgusting service, staff not trained to use system correctly. Took over half hour to chk car out. Did not show around the car before we drove away. Manager is an absolute joke! hired 2* 7 seaters from the heathrow center. customer service was very bad and very slow, i was meant to pick up my car at 1700 hrs but got the keys at around 1900 hrs. after few days i tried to call the customer service to find out to why some extra money without my knowledge has been taken out, but i waited to be answered by customer service literally for more than 10 MINUTES .... but in vain. eventually i had to keep cut the phone line because no one picked up. very very disappointed… Read Full Review

“Deceitful practices and lack of customer service”

Europcar Australia didn't give me the vehicle I had reserved but a larger one that I didn't want even though they were offering others the same vehicle I had reserved to others. The large vehicle was difficult to drive and cost me more to fuel. I discovered later that it was because I was returning it to a different state in Australia to which the vehicle was licensed. “Avoid like the plague”

BEWARE OF EUROPCARS I booked one at Bristol using a link from Easyjet in May 2015 I was told the car had no insurance whatsoever and I would be liable for £18000 if I didnt buy their non inclusive insurance. This more than tripled the car hire cost and I had to agree under duress to accept their exorbitant insurance as they would not refund my booking charge. The car was delivered to our hotel in Lyon. There was supposed to be a charge of 18 Euros for delivery but the driver said no problem, no charge for us, maybe because the car rental agency was only a few of kilometers away. The Citroen was clean and handled the roads perfectly! Europcar could not have made this any easier for us. However, upon our return, additional charges of $34 were on our credit card. “Beware - Europcar are totally fraudulent”

Please never, ever use this company. On return of my vehicle to Belfast International airport I was charged (without being informed) £85 to my credit card for "damage to front bumper". I had certainly not damaged the car and it had never been parked anywhere where somebody else could have been culpable. I found Europcar Customer Services extremely inefficient and they refused to escalate or prioritise my complaint or let me speak to somebody senior. I hired a car at Bristol airport. When I received the invoice a few days later, I was charged for 1000 miles that I had not driven. I immediately wrote to customer service and explained the mistake (even though I had signed the incorrect mileage in the first place).
