“Sharks”

Returned car to car park the attendant checked it over and said everything was OK and did I have any complaints about the car. Next thing they took £75 plus admin for a scuff on the wheel capwhich wasn't there when it was checked. I challenged them and was told verbal conversations are not taken into account, I even described the attendant but made no difference. I was stupid enough to agree to pay for courtesy car hire during my renewal of car insurance. I then had someone drive into my car, hence ended up with a Europcar. First of all I had a puncture, followed their procedure, they sent me to a specific garage where I had to have a new tyre (even though this wasn't needed) Wasted 4 hours of works time, to sort it out only to have a letter off Gordon Slater Solutions alleging that I'd had an accident. Hired a car from Europcar for 6 days. Which was not the car that was booked. due to the car being so bad I only traveled 28 miles. I had the paperwork that stated the mileage when the car was collected. Which was also a bad experience. There was a knock at the door one night and my wife answered the door to a lady with her hand held out and said KEYS. Nothing else just KEYS. I was also charged an extra £400 for 4,0000 miles? I had supposedly done, although I wasn't charged per mile. I had only gone from Gloucester to Cardiff and back. Eventually I got a refund as the mileage had been incorrectly read. Luckily this person owned up for the mistake.........unlike others. Really bad news

Hired a vehicle which was delivered and all went well! The vehicle needed to be collected from a residential address in Glasgow the following day. This did not happen and the driver then had to call the airport office spoke to a female staff member who was rude to him. The car hire company agreed to collect it from the residential address and had the drivers contact details so why was their no communication and there is absolutely no need for bad behaviour… Read Full Review

THEY FILLED THE DAMAGE AFTER I HAVE SIGHED THE RETURN PAPER WORK. When I returned the car, I have sighed the page they presented to me. There was no writing except for hand written dates of start/end of rental. so I sighed it and off they went with the car. Then I have received £500+ estimate for a scratch, with the page that I have sighed but this time with some extra information like return mile and damage. Despite buying the super cover when booking the car hire online and despite the person at the europe car desk knowing and stating that I already had additional cover and then not explaining any costs or terms it transpires I was billed for £389.92 for 14 days additional cover. Seemingly I had initialled the form. Be careful as to what you sign for and despite the queues behind you do not feel pressurised and read it carefully. “complacent and uncaring service”

Europcar is popular because they are large and work at airports and cities with airlines like Easyjet and other companies and so have a ready market. We have found their disinterested attitude very annoying, particularly in Lisbon. We rarely get the car type that we booked. Last time the car supplied (Fiat 500) was more like a slow noisy bus than the small Peugot that we ordered. Not good for narrow cobbled streets and small country lanes. Our plane was going to be delayed. Rang ahead to advise europcar. To our surprise they said that we had already picked it up. Made numerous phone calls to sort it out. I hired a car from weston super mare downtown, the car asked for was not available given a skoda octavia, when i ordered a small car. I went to a hospital and someone revered into the vehicle and put a 2" dent in the bodywork above the bumper. I took the car back and the rep apprised the damage and quoted me £250, for a 2" dent. Outrageous service by Europcar today. Got to the location to pick up the car at 11am to find the car wasn't there. Problem number one. it arrived later and then was not theone I had ordered but a HUGE ford transit people carrier which I did not want to drive (I had ordered a compact car) By this time I had already done all the paper work and paid the security deposit. Europcar UK is a very bad company. I was charged over £600 because their staff incompetency. The customer service is poor and they give wrong information, they also lie. I was informed that a driver was on their way to pick up my car after the rental, no driver came and I was charged fee due to their fault. I tried to get the money back but no luck. I have just returned a car via the delivery and collection service, everything was fine, I picked a package with 2000 miles and I needed the car for 8 days as mine was written off. They came to collect the car 18.11.15 after I had to chase them to find out if they were picking it up. I made sure that the fuel was filled up to the top. I was shocked to get an invoice from them charging me for 1200 miles, so in 8 days they are saying that I have travelled 3200 miles, I commute 30 miles… Read Full Review

I was charged for "roadside assistance" when I didn't ask for it and was not informed by staff of this charge. It is in the small print - when you collect the car and sign a document this charge is there, but, when I originally booked the car hire over the phone the adviser told me this was the "total cost" of hiring the car. I am from Australia and booked and paid for a luxury car for 17 days hire at Belfast International Airport. The Mercedes I booked was not available and a Jeep was substituted. I reluctantly accepted the car, unseen of course and expected a new and very flash 4 wheel drive Jeep.
