“Beware of Glasgow Airport Europcar!”

After paying nearly 300 us dollars ahead for a rental for 9 days, I was told at the desk in Glasgow when I picked the car up I would need a credit card to charge 26 dollars per day for insurance which would be omitted once the car was returned undamaged. I did return the car undamaged and was charged an additiona 535.04 dollars for premium insurance that included coverage for towing, ect. that I did NOT agree to! “Very Poor Service they forced us to drive unsafe...”

We had rented a car from Madrid airport in November. Very next day thieves broke into the car and stole our luggages. We called the police and he spoke to the customer service. europcar service told us that we could change the car with a similar one if we bring the complain report. “Poor service and organisation”

My rental was due for a service so contacted Europcar and booked a changed over for a week hence. On the appointed day I had a call saying no cars were available so rearranged it for the following week. On the appointed day I rang to double check the swap over time and they claimed to have no knowledge of my car swap appointment. Rearranged it yet again for this week and guess what? “Overcharged - No Customer Service”

Two good things - staff at the offices in Edinburgh and Liverpool were pleasant. Car was clean enough. Bad things - believe that we were overcharged and have tried multiple times since July 2014 to obtain from them a copy of the invoice but they refuse to either send it or have such bad customer service that they ignore every contact I make. We rented a car form Eruopcar in Los Cabos, Mexico at the airport. We received a car with at least a dozen very bad dents and scratches. We were forced to pay double of what was originally quoted. We forgot our Ipad in the car and returned 5 minutes later to retrieve it. The car had been cleaned out and no one admits to seeing the Ipad. Very terrible experience. “touring trip from England to South Ireland”

“Never ever again ”

It all started with a 45 min queue at the Paris CDG office due to a lack of staff. Avis, at the next desk, had three times as many people working with a manager overseeing their operation. Ordered a ford fiesta 1.4 automatic Problems: 1. Ordered automatic, said on form comments "MUST be automatic", phoned up the day before and asked if it is definitely an automatic, they said YES car was MANUAL 2. I booked a car in May 2014 to pick up in Sept at Heathrow for 10 days . I was quoted 142 pounds ( $263 AUD ) - GAURENTEED PRICE ! (i have confirmation email to prove it ) When i went to pick it up, I was told that the car i booked wasnt available and that i was to have a bigger car, for an extra 15 pounds. reserved a compact car to be picked up at Edinbrugh airport and returned 5 days later at Glasgow airport. I included zero deductible. Pre paid $364 a week before picking up rental car. We have just returned from a holiday to Ireland. I booked a car a few days before i left and was happy with the quote i received for a Ford Mondeo or Similar car. (5 day hire for £76) On arrival at the reception desk I was told if i refused to pay for extra insurance at 20 Euro’s a day my only other option would be to have 1,600 Euros charged to my debit card as a security despot. seems a common thing by Europcar .
My original quote ( gaurenteed price ) blew out from $263 australian dollars to $617 because my booked car wasnt there and i HAD TO HAVE a bigger car.
I will never ever deal with Europcar again and will recommend as many people as possible to go elsewhere.

I recently returned a car to Europecar in spain. The person came out to check for damage and after literally 15 minutes(normally hertz takes about 30 seconds) they showed me a Minor scuff at the lower bottom bumper. I argued that this must have been done before as we had not had any accident or incident. The guy sharply told me I must pay €280 plus a €60 "admin" fee. I expressed my point again. Do not use we had a quote for £368 pounds for 28 days greturned car day early because it was no longer needed only to find they had taken £475 out of my account there reason i lost my discount on the original 28 days because i was a day early !!!!! Had serious issues with Europcar Cyprus - they offered a car that was NOT similar to the one booked, said that there is nothing else available, not even manual option. Later they changed their mind, told us that they had offered a manual one. When clearing this out by email, they AGAIN changed their minds, telling that there wasn't a manual car available. same thing happened to me at europcar limassol, downgraded to a smaller, damaged car because the car I booked had wrong transmission. Loads of problems - Absolutely terrible

We rented a car from Europcar at Malaga airport and returned it without a scratch a week later. We had a very early flight so dropped off the keys in the drop box as requested as the Europcar office was closed. What a surprise to see a charge for almost €300 on our credit card statement for damages that were not there. Despite repeated attempts to contact Europcar Spain they would not engage with us. Beware of these (Europcar)! I rented a car at the airport in Cork and asked if I could return the car at any time, I said yes (had a drop box for the keys). The deposited at 3am. leaving the vehicle in your parking space, although he could deliver until 9:00 a.m.. that day.
