“Rental agreement and security deposit failure”

I booked a prepaid car on dohop.is which goes through Cartrawler. Paid 49 euros up front and was supposed to pay 49 euros on arrival. On arrival i had to pay 66 euros and provide a security deposit with a credit card wich turned out to be 155 euros wich was supposed to be canceled on return of the car. Returned the car one day later, now 50 days later the money still hasn't been returned to my credit card. “Deceitful company”

We ordered a premium car (mercedes or audi) one month in advance. Upon arrival they told us that we would get a citroen DS5. We objected but they had no alternative. An upgrade or even downgrade was not possible. We tried to contact the customer service: not available before the rental contract ends. We filled in the form on their website 3 times. No result. If Europcar is your only choice in Alajuela/San Jose airport area to rent a vehicle you are better off taking the bus. After ten years of coming to Costa Rica we have never had a particular loyalty to any rental car agency. While we still don't we definitely have one we will never use again. “Average service”

Rented an economy size car from the Gatwick branch (off airport but soon to be moving). I was given a Fiat 500L. The car itself was fine, with aircon and a panoramic glass roof. Service was friendly however it took more than 30 minutes for the car to be ready for me to drive away. This was very annoying indeed. The returns procedure was straightforward. I rented a car for a vacation in Ireland. I rented the car through Expedia and I thought I was renting with Alamo. At the time I rented the car, Expedia offered full coverage insurance. I have rented in Ireland before and I know that insurance is an issue there, so I bought the extra coverage. We booked a car for hire at Manchester airport 4 months in advance of our arrival on May 2 2014. We arrived on time, jet lagged from many hours of travel from Toronto to Heathrow to Manchester, only to be told that there was no car available. Beware Europcar Bristol airport on inspecting white fiesta found additional 'scuff' on wheel informed man in cabin who marked this on MY copy (without even looking !). Totally agree with you about Europcar Bristol Airport avoid at all costs. Received a very spurious claim for scratch on alloy wheel and had £92 debited from my credit card afterwards. Drop off hut is not staffed before 7am so had no option but to drop keys without inspection. Customer cannot win in this situation.

After having my own car damaged I opted for offer from my car insurance and got courtesy car which was provided by Eurocar. More than a week ago I returned car back where I pick it up from (repair garage) and parked it on reception bay of the repair garage in perfect condition. Book a car via holiday autos and reserved snow chains when we got Geneva the europecar desk said the car they had only had snow shoes which I had to buy but they would refund the cost if I didn't use them. I returned them unused to the same booking agent expecting a refund which never came. Took the matter up with holiday autos who were useless then tried direct with europecar who were just as bad. We hired a car recently and then received an invoice with someone else's name/address/driver number. We were also charged for damage we did not do. No chance of a refund as we left the car in their bay at Heathrow and they have taken photos of the scratches and dents to rear door which we presume someone did after we left it whilst returning and parking their hire car. I hire cars every 2 weeks from airports all over Europe. One office I consistently have problems with is Europcar at Gatwick (via Easyjet). We have the same problem. We left a Europcar at Heathrow and they have charged us for damage we did not do. bumper and rear door is apparently scratched so someone probably scraped it in their parking bay. Appalling service on phone. Same response, 'we took photos'.

At Nadi Airport in Fiji , the Manager and staff are terrible. They are unprofessional , rude and vulgar in their language. This seemed cheap at £125 for 7 days. We didn't notice it didn't include VAT so that added another 20%. We declined all the extras during our on-line booking, but were offered them all again in Edinburgh. The only one we agreed to pay for was a £30 charge to off-set their £5000 excess in case of accident. We were given a lengthy form to sign which the clerk told us was just a confirmation of the booking. I booked a hire car from Faro airport, I waited an hour to get the car and then was handed the keys no instruction on the car etc, staff are very rude and they charge you for a full tank of petrol £80!! Very poor service they tell things but they don't keep their promise. A car was booked for me through a third part, should be delivered between 1200 - 1700 hrs. They did not deliver the car and when I phoned them they said they will do it tomorrow and guess what they didn't even phone so I had to phone them again and the lady said I have the car here for you and will bring it to you house after 1800 hrs but again she never showed up. “BEWARE! Under 25 charged at pick-up NOT when booking!”

On hiring a car with Europcar, Scotland when making the on-line booking I entered all details including my age (24) and was charged £45 with £60 excess and a £30+ one-way fee - all acknowledged and acceptable by me. On pick-up I was then charged another £27.50 a day for being under 25. He actually told me it was £25 which I reluctantly agreed to and then VAT was added. This doubled my car hire cost.
