Never ever ! Don't hire a car from pissing awfully lying ! company EuropCar @ Naxxar ! Lot of extras without warning, full insurance is 10 € but you need to buy extra 5€ a day to cover tires & under carriage and you get cheated on fuel !… Read Full Review

“650 Euro extra charge”

I rented a BMW X3 from Europcar at the Lisbon airport. I returned it 3 wks later with a 2mmx2mm stone chip on the windscreen. I was pressed at the airport and was not able to speak to anyone about the cost of repair. Two weeks later I received a 650 euro charge for a windshield repair. I was never offered additional insurance when I rented. “Do not rent from the Heathrow office”

Here's a list: over 2 hour wait in a room full of increasingly frustrated customers; 3 counters staffed at a time but at least 5 floor managers sitting around watching their overworked customer service agents get yelled at (the agents were all very friendly and professional though, so kudos to them); only 2 cars to choose from when I finally made it out to the lot, neither of which I wanted because they were too big (if you've ever driven on rural roads in England you know what I mean). “THE CAR WAS UNROADWORTHY !”

I collected a Corsa from Toulouse airport, after a lengthy wait at check in. I examined the outside of the car, which was dirty with a few scratches etc but otherwise OK On arriving at my destination I noticed that the two front tyres were worn past the tread wear bars and that they were ILLEGAL. “Lied and stole my money”

I rented a car from Europcar, paid for the extra protection. When I got the car it wasn't clean inside or out. When I got the bill I was charged I was charged for extra protection TWICE. They also took money out for damage but failed to say what the damage was. I had previously paid for the protection and car hire. “I returned my car to their designated car park on time...”

I returned my car to their designated car park on time but then had to wait behind a queue of other customers to have my car inspected and signed off by the inspector. There was only one inspector at the site - Olbia airport - as you can imagine a site very busy with tourists collecting/returning cars. Booked a villa with car through Thompson in Portugal. Was sold the vignette but did not have it explained we then had to pay tolls on top!!! NOT EXPLAINED! Thought it was a one off payment similar to "Sun Shine" pass in Florida. Ended up with near 100 euros of tolls after we returned to UK!! Beware of Vignette "hard sell" and understand what it involves!!Opt to return car full as they charges 101 euros for diesel at 1.51 per litre!! I have paid for every insurance they have online , and when I went to pick up the car they offer additional insurance (take it and you will be fully insured they said) , some one park beside me and slams the door of his car to mine, made a little scratch , in the invoice , they charged me for £277 for the damage !!!… Read Full Review

Cairns office!! Shame on you, and also Melbourne office. Returned the car after a business trip of 2 days. The car was unmarked, the employee on sight walked around inspecting it with us, and signed the paperwork, returned in the same condition. “Stunned that a company could be so unprofessional”

With any large organisation things can, and do go wrong. What distinguishes one company from another then is not so much how often they get it right, but what they do to resolve an issue when things go wrong. To that end there are a generally accepted set of rules that most good customer service professionals advocate and abide by. I booked a hire car through easyjet and was told to collect from europcar at Malaga airport. On picking up my car which i had booked for seven days and sighning for it on a blank PDA handheld which i was told to sign for my car,the car was returned seven days later washed and full of diesel which was required and no damage on the vehicle. “Unfair refueling charge”

I refuel just a few kms from the airport and was charged 5 litre of petrol at 2 aud above the current price. I was not given the full amount of fuel I got in the first place. Just simply 'the fuel is full'. They might have lied to me to say that it is full at the first place. On top of that I was charged an admin fees? Avoid this company at any cost.. I hired a car, returned it with a 7,5 mm scratch: a drunk gardener drove into us in Cornwall in the middle of nowhere.. We chased him, and stopped him, he denied everything and rushed away almost hitting my father.. We didn't have any signal to call the police, the scratch was tiny and looked as if it's in the range of scratches Europcar according to its own brochure doesn't care about.. “Dirty Rental Cars and Liars”

Firstly, many car rental agencies in Italy leave much to be desired in terms of service. You are not greeted and the guy never looks at you while discussing the reservation being made. The rental car's interior or exterior was not cleaned at all. Brown stains on the back passenger doors and windows. Footprints were on the dashboard and doors. I hired a csr in Rome with a mechanical fault that was discovered when we arrived at the destination. It cost me 80 euro's in phone calls to sort out the situation which required me to drive 2 hours each way to get an alternative car. The second car was very poor condition for a hire car. My husband recently hired a car through Europcar to pick up at Belfast Airport (this took nearly 2 hours at the airport - even though the booking was made online). He was told it was an old car and there was some minor dents and marks on it but he accepted it. On return to the airport nobody checked the car - just took the keys off my husband. “Taking unauthorised money from our account ”

We signed a contract for a car at London Airport with Europcar. We delivered the car back 52 days later as per contract. Money was taken from our account in 2 payments, which added up to the original contract. Only the first invoice was ever given. On arriving home, we found an extra $700 had been taken out.
