“Dropping us two miles from our destination , unsafe...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lanzarote24 on 30/01/2024

Used purple parking for transfer from Lanzarote airport and a local company MTS were used. We waited an hour to leave the airport as they were waiting for someone who never showed up , a lack of communication from the driver to tell us what was happening. Then to our dismay we were dropped 2 miles from our destination as the driver stopped the bus and said this is where she was told to drop us, we presumed we were near and she pointed it was down this road. With two heavy cases and hand luggage, The villa was nowhere to be seen and it was a cul-de-sac so had to turn back and saw a taxi and took a number off the side to complete our transfer by taxi. Insensed I called purple parking and the local company to complain and found out purple parking are owned by holiday extras who responded to me, they said it was in the small print they do not drop people at private villas , yet they take your money when booking knowing this. They did reimburse for the trip back that we cancelled due to not trusting them and we hired a car to ensure it was stress free getting to the airport. My advice is to avoid holiday extra as they sell under invitation to treat knowing they do not honour the conteact and leave you vulnerable in a unknown area abroad and this is disgusting and they did not care.

“Blatant profiteering on vans - AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Benji11 on 05/10/2023

Arrived at the Heathrow airport parking in my berlingo van to be told that it is a commercial vehicle and there is an additional fee of £25 per day. This is my personal van and not business owned. They also know the vehicle type when you book due to providing a registration and you are not warned about the additional charge at that point. It’s buried in the small print and not even the T&Cs. You are only told on arrival when it’s too late to change as you’ve a flight to catch and as such forced to pay. Complete and blatant profiteering. The lady behind the counter looked completely embarrassed by the situation.

“Meet and greet my pine end!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Justwantdecentserviceplease on 22/08/2023

Getting to the Hilton Gatwick was seamless, there was a man waiting to take the car. The returning meet & greet was non existent, different instructions from the card given & the pre recorded message when ringing. Then it took an absolute age to get anyone to answer the phone, to only tell me the reference number we were given wasn’t on their system!!!! Awful service period!

“Discrimination for driving a small van”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DavidConquest on 26/09/2022

Discrimination for driving a small van. Took my booking and my registration tells them it’s a Citroen Berlingo.I It would have been nice for a email to explain the extra charges for this van, they waited for me to park ( with a flight to catch and no way of exit) and funnily enough, they then knew it was a van. Slapped me with an extra charge of £150. A van is my choice of transport when parking in public car parks, I am very particular where I park my brand new car. I have 5 or 6 holidays a year normally from Stansted and Gatwick and have never had a problem before, probably because I use APH PARKING , obviously a more reasonable company. Your staff at Heathrow where very smug about this situation and couldn’t explain why my van ( smaller van most vehicles in the car park) should warrant these extra charges. This was a personal trip, not a business trip. I suspect you think businesses can afford the extra charge.

“Damaged my car/had to drive with disabled passenger”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CristinaBrowne287 on 19/07/2022

The driver parking or returning my car broke the passenger window leaving it down and we were unable to elevate the window. I was returning with a profoundly autistic young lady and had a journey of about hour and a half in peak time. The operators of parking company phoned their office to report the damage and to get some help for me, but the office manager would not accept any responsibility or offer assistance. Ground staff were powerless to assist and I had to place passenger in the rear of the car and drive with the window fully open. She was kicking and screaming in the back of the car because it upset her. She is a blue badge holder, this was visible in the car. I was unable to secure my car and unable to get it readily repaired as apparently the door lining had to come out and there is risk of breakage. I did eventually get it repaired and the engineer told me it was entirely due to a heavy handed driver. No part was defective and when the window was raised I satisfactorily use the electric up/down without any problem whatsoever. Purple Parking in the light of this evidence still refute responsibility. I will never knowingly use this service and would advise anyone else to boycott them.

“LH Terminal 5”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 05/07/2022

I would not recommend Purple Parking LHT5. We waited over 40 minutes for the bus to take us to Terminal 5, going to all other Terminals on the way. Took us at least 20 minutes, made us late all round. The car park is too far away from the Terminal. On our return the flight was delayed by 2.5 hours. To my surprise although the car park was 24 hours the bus to the car park stopped at 11.30 pm. We had to endure a 40 minute queue for a taxi at a cost of £25 per taxi. We were a family of 4 adults (parents and grandparents), a 4 year old and a baby and to be honest was a nightmare. DO NOT USE PURPLE PARKING

“BEWARE PURPLE PARKING LHR T5”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Elian190 on 11/04/2022

Very poor location now outiside Sofitel which is so far from the terminal it cannot be called Meet and Greet. Carprark is difficult to find, in poor repair and rammed. The staff were ok on dropoff, on return they eventually gave me my key and told me my car was "somewhere down this row". Car was filthy and as usual the seats were moved, radio on extra miles on the ODO. Terrible experience overall, do not use this Company.

“Terrible, so not use”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 460Hale on 06/10/2021

Terrible. Don't use. The Police advised me to use authorised by Heathrow valet only, noting they regular pull over valet companies joyriding around heathrow. The police told me the driver, and his two passengers, in my car, at wrong terminal, not on my day of drop off, were asked to leave while my car was towed!!! Nothing like coming back from holiday to find your valet company managed to get your car towed.

“Not a Meet & Greet”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ABCDEFG12121 on 05/09/2021

Unhelpful - no meet and greet. Told to call on collection of luggage - no one brought the vehicle. On contacting the telephone number they give you - it rings for a long period and when answered the person doesn’t check your details and says “yeah they are on their way”. Do not use u less you like suboptimal service providers.

“Poor Service - Almost missed flight -Spoilt Holiday”

written by Jordenf1984 on 02/10/2020

Have booked Purple Parking at Heathrow, the address given on the email confirmation took us to a complete different location. Customer Service Staff admitted that there was an issue with the post code. Could not find the carpark and almost missed the flight. Resulted in additional car park charges of GBP 200.00 . Very poor customer service

“Meet and Greet - car not ready”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MontysMaster on 14/09/2019

Had to wait 20 minutes for my car to come back on meet and greet. The reason I was given was that my flight was early... They ask you to pay insurance for late arrivals and are supposed to track flights in case of early arrival - where is the refund for late arrival of the car? I switched back to purple parking recently after they had previously gone bust when the service was excellent. Someone had told me service has returned. This clearly isn’t the case and I won’t use them again.

“Be very careful when booking”

written by ChickenDinners on 17/03/2019

I booked via my iPhone and the pop ups for additional items are hard to close and if you hit the wrong button it bills your credit card immediaty and then asks for the details later. This cost me an additional £40 for something that I did not want or need.

“Smashed sunroof”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ravenm363 on 09/02/2019

Came back off holiday to a smashed sunroof at 2 o'clock in the morning, had to drive from London to Cornwall in the rain, no courtesy car offered despite them taking full liability when I went to collect it. 3 months later and I had finally spoken to the manager about it and someone was coming to collect my car. After being at the garage for 2 weeks, my car still has no working sunroof. Absolutely not worth the hassle, would definitely recommend paying a bit extra to avoid a stranger doing whatever they want with your car whilst you're away.

“Ok until a problem with your car”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MadilynnHaynes199 on 10/08/2018

Our car windscreen was cracked emanating from a stone chip which was not there when we left the car. Unfortunately we never took photos when we left it. They refuse to accept liability, sent still photos when entering the site, tbh they are not clear evidence of a chip, it looks like a glare, something on the dashboard or even dare I say it that it has been put on the photo afterwards.Holidayextras were no help either just repeating what purple parking stated. It worked out very expensive parking, they do not even check the car over with you before leaving. Getting bus to and from airport was fine.

“Car moved from multistory to Southall”

★★★☆☆

written by on 15/11/2017

Purple parking Bath Road, Heathrow. 10 minute wait in a queue at the barrier before entering the car park whilst vouchers were checked. I'm used to numberplate recognition at my local airport. Quite a long walk from the dropoff point to the central building. A short wait for the bus but no offer of any help with the bags into the trailer. On our return there was a short wait for the bus and our car keys returned quickly and the car parked a short distance away. When we started the car we found that all the heater settings and radio stations had been changed. On reviewing the sat nav we found that the car had been taken from the multistory at Bath road, across to purple parking at Southall. Since we had deliberately booked at the Bath road facility we were annoyed that this had happened and annoyed that the car had been driven between the two rather than it being parked on site. We have complained but there has been no response. Shan't be using them again.

I booked purple parking at London Stansted for 12/01/23 my first attempt I'd made a mistake so filled in the form again, and now I have been charged twice for one booking, the first booking code is DWYDGT which I have cancelled, but have been informed that I will be sent a voucher, but as I haven't a purple parking account that is no good for me, so I request a refund into my bank account, which is £88.39. My new booking number is DWYDKC which I've also paid £88.39 this is the booking I want to KEEP.

Has anyone had a problem with finding the car park in Birmingham with the postcode they give you? It took me 30 miles away and had to park at the airport which cost me an extra £98. I spoke to customer services and they are not interested so I am now going on as many sites as possible to warn people off purple parking.

Thanks for answering this question.

Sorry but only ever used Purple Parking at Gatwick and Heathrow and always use Meet and Greet. Tip: Watch the website daily for offers on Meet and Greet sometimes hardly any dearer than off site parking and much more convenient.

I have used purple parking for a few years now and although I did have to go around a couple of times I got there in the end. My fault for not following the instructions. I would have thought after all the years of being in operation their instructions would have only got better. I think this is driver error so take responsibility for it.

I have used Bristol and East Midlands Purple Parking this year. Both were very easy to find using post code and signs for EM and signs for B. Was this driver error perhaps. We all do it at sometime

We didn't have any problems with purple parking at Birmingham and found the whole experience very easy and efficient, as well as a postcode there were good directions provided to get us there. Sorry you didn't have a good experience but I don't think it's fair based only on that experience to warn others away from them.

Sorry not with B-ham but I did have a similar experience with Manchester and with the same result as you. However, I use Purple Parking regularly and have not had a problem since. I put my Manchester problem down to the map software and me not checking the result.

I have used Purple Parking at Birmingham and Heathrow and find their directions faultless; maybe it was an issue with the Sat Nav?

The Birmingham maybe could do with a little help however I missed the turn and only went one roundabout down before turning back and finding it after that. 30 mikes away, can only agree with others on driver error here.

My many years experience with PP is at Gatwick and Heathrow and never had any problems finding them. I have used an alternative provider at Birmingham but again, directions were good. Can only assume likely error with whatever navigation system used by the driver, possibly in heat of moment.
