i recieved my product last week from amazon, as a free gift from the following survey site: http://www.points2shop.com/?ref=uin1328432399 i must say it is well made so that it fits into an extremely small case, despite it being over a metre high when folded out. it has a normal screw, capabe of holding nearly any camera, however, the top bit has alot of screws and fixtures that i dont really know the reason for.. it is a brilliant product overall, and brilliant for anyone looking for a simple tripod.. :)

Very functional for what I paid for it from Amazon. I have 550d and the tripod does a wonderful job, although I find it is too light on windy situations, I usually hang a small camera bag from the hook , to add some anchor weight to it. There is also a solid carrying handle, that can be used as support to help with the stabilization.
All in all, for what I paid for it, it does the job perfectly. Just don't try to force things, try to figure the different functions and rotation axis and how the different knobs, levers and crank handle, pan handle relate to the movement. If you encounter resistance, try to find the screw that unlocks the resistance, rather than forcing things.
I have achieved perfect panaromic shots with the pan handle, the different degrees of tilting, keep the camera on a portrait mode, with swivel function. I could not ask more from a very good value tripod.

Great value for money. Good for beginners to support smaller to mid size cameras. IMHO if you have a DSLR it will not be good enough.

As my first Tripod i found it useful to get certain camera angles whilst filming.
However i feel that sturdiness is to be desired, Eventhough there is a hook to hang a weight from, It will just add to the budget.

I paid nearly £35 for this at Argos and can't even work out how to attach the camera to the plate! Why on earth are there no instructons for novices like me?

Hama Star 61 Is a nice, compact tripod for a normal, standard camera or camcorder.
The first time you use it, it's sometimes difficult but it goes really great.
There's also a bag for the tripod.
You can turn it to the highest point of the tripod (135cm).
There's a lever on the unit (for professional recordings).
So you can turn it above 360 with the lever.
An integrated waterlevel for a straight posture.

I am quite pleased with my Hama Star 61 tripod which is lightweight and versatile. Excellent for smaller cameras and camcorders. Not all that robust for the heavier DSLR with zoom lens so be careful with plastic mounting plate .

Hmmmm, I guess you get what you pay for. The Hama Star 61 tripod looks good enough, is easy to use with quick release legs and camera mounting. Reasonably stable when erected.
Main gripe is the camera mounting assembly the plastic plate is not at all secure when in place - too much movement. Not really suitable for dslr.
Would be a good entry tripod for a digital compact though.

i suppose you get what you pay for, sorry I bought the Hama Star 61 now using it as a mono pod, my dlsr is to heavy for it especially when i use my 70-300 zoom lens. Lightweight but too much plastic not rigid enough

Hama Star 61 is a nice cheap well made tripod, great for all vid and camera work, also i use this for my spotting scope to view the stars and moon. I really like this tripod its a good buy if you're on a budget also ideal for binoculars and bird watchers.
I recommend this tripod to all on a budget, the only downside is there's no instruction manual needed for begginers who've never owned a tripod before and dont know what knob is for what, but its quite simple to operate.
A thumbs up from me.

Cheap, firm, light, easy to use, good tripod, recommend Hama Star 61. Just lost the quick release plate - can't find a replacement. I think I'll just buy the whole tripod again, just this time I'll glue the plate to my camera..

Very pleased with the Hama Star 61 as this light weight tripod which satisfies all my needs. Excellent value for money, easy to assemble and adjust and appreciate the little touches with it like the carry handle on the side for transportation, yeah you can't go wrong with it.

When I was a kid I had to read this book for school about these weird 3-legged aliens and I loved the book so I have this weird appreciation for the aesthetic beauty of the tripod. The Hama Star 61 Tripod is no exception. Not only does it have beautiful, sleek, silver triangular lines, but it's got the requisite number of knobs and joints to make it look imposing and alien. Very yummy.
For the price (Just over £10 at Amazon), you get a great tripod which comes with rubber feet, a spirit level and a carrying case as well as the abiilty to tilt and swivel the head. All-in-all, a very good buy.
Recommended! It looks great and has a useful purpose. I've named mine George.
