Overall, the Goodmans GDB3 freeview box is not worth the money, and Goodmans should do some more research or something. The box seemed fine when I bought it, but then it suddenly started turning itself off and the remote kept not working… Read Full Review

I bought the Goodmans GDB3 freeview box 8 months ago. It now switches itself off every couple of minutes. I bought the latest model about 2 weeks ago, and it switched itself off and wouldn't come back on, so I went and got my money back… Read Full Review

The Goodmans GDB3 is our first digital freeview receiver box, and we are pretty satisfied with this. It is very easy to use, and also updates itself automatically with new channels.
There is no problem installing it, and multiple scart sockets at the back mean you can use a VCR to record from it. It was bought for £39.99.
This box has plenty of features!… Read Full Review

The Goodmans GDB3 freeview box switches itself on and off, and has done for the past 2 years. John Lewis told us that it was due to erratic signal of digital transmissions. It appears this may not be so… Read Full Review

Having had the Goodmans GDB3 freeview box for 18 months, and spent a small fortune having the aerial upgraded and boosted, only to realise the problem all along is with the set-top box. The box switches itself on and off constantly. It freezes all the time, and loses channels that are installed etc. Goodmans told me this because my box has not upgraded its software. I can send the box to them for upgrading, at my my own expense!! I don't think so. I think the best place for this Goodmans (ALBA)… Read Full Review

We brought two Goodmans GDB3 Freeview boxes together on the Saturday. When we got them out of the box everything seemed fine until the picture quality on my box broke up on some of the channels, notably ITV1, Channel 4, and many others. We tweaked around, thinking that the aerial connection may have something to do with it (we brought a Sagem Freeveiw box initially becuase of the poor analoge reception - which we are happy with).
We then swapped our Goodmans units over. Hey ho! Mine was… Read Full Review

I am grateful for having read the other reviews because my Goodmans GDB3 Freeview box had exactly the same faults as reported by others, and I was thinking that the fault might lie elsewhere (aerial, or signal etc.), since the signals were re-set recently, in addition to the repeated ITV cutting out, and my box even cuts out on BBC2 and BBC 7!
I would never buy another Goodmans product after this.
I am surprised that John Lewis still sell Goodmans Freeview boxes… Read Full Review

Despite being initially impressed with the cheap(ish) Goodmans GDB3 Freeview box, I soon began to notice the terrible picture quality. The picture flickers quite badly, particularly on menu screens. In addition the picture and sound break up for no good reason, and mine has simply failed to respond to the remote, and will not work with a new remote either. In addition, the remote is poor quality and very flimsy. Back to Argos to swap for a quality model me thinks… Read Full Review

I had the Goodmans GDB3 Freeview box for two years, and it was nothing but a waste of time as it kept switching on and off, and it drove me up the wall. Goodmans said they were updating the software, but nothing ever happened. I tried a different make of Freeview box, and it worked perfectly… Read Full Review

The ITV stations are the most annoying, because about every minute or so, the Goodmans GDB3 Freeview Box turns itself off and then back on. The picture also freeze, and then I have to reset the box. When I use the remote control, and push the volume button for example, the program guide will come on. There were only a few stations which didn't freeze.
I spoke to Goodmans about this, and they said they were aware of the problem, and blamed it on the BBC! This was no help to me!… Read Full Review

All the good points are listed above, but what I've written this reveiw about, is the bad signal on the channels listed above. The the sound and picture freezes for a second, or the picture becomes scrambled. Then for a second or two its fine, and so on. The now and next is a bit jumpy, but after a bit of scrolling, it tells you what you want to know, instead of no "information"… Read Full Review
