No way would I recommend Virgin Active to anyone. I used to belong to Esporta which was ok, but now it's VA and I cannot use the Esporta near my home (halving my membership) so I wanted to cancel. They said I have to stay the month (£50) so ok - I'll go swimming with my children, but the pool ...

There has been no hot water for 3 weeks at the Virgin Active in Edinburgh which is not acceptable.

Also the spa and steam room are regularly broken.

Children get a free reign of the place and there is often only 1 lane available for normal swimming due to childrens classes ....even at peak tim ...

I use the Virgin Active at the ANGEL not for much longer. Where do I start, I got to say the lockers are clean and tidy but when it comes to gym staff they really think they are incredible hulk. I mean they run around the gym barking like dogs and whaling meat head for god sake, what makes me laugh ...

The Virgin Active gym is clean but the staff something they need to look at. Also need new machine IT equipment ABSOLUTLEY useless.

Virgin Active have just taken over the old Esporta in Crawley Leisure Park, service has dropped as all the original staff have left. We walked in one day and were told we had to pay a pound to hire a locker but they had run out of padlocks so we had to buy one for a fiver if we wanted one. Next week ...

I join Virgin Active, Solihull 18 months ago. The gym is clean & fullfils all my requirements of a gym.

However, in this period Virgin have increased the price three times with little warning & additionally have cut the number of kickboxing classes to 1 a week (from 2).

Virgin Active Health Club, Edinburgh Fountian Park. Example - sun stand gent's, 12 tubes not working, no out of use signs put up. Still promoting sales of tokens. This was reported 2 months ago and no change to date. VERY POOR.

When joining I stated I wanted a child free swimming pool between 5 and 7 on week days. This was assured to be the case, but there are loads of children due to the high number of swimming lessons going on. There are 2 adult only lanes if you are lucky!
