“Terrible Management”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Murphy-Alt124 on 15/10/2016

Next Generation Auckland has a wonderful setting and above average equipment. It's bathrooms and drains in the showers could do with more regular cleaning and its cafe is average too. The support staff and class instructors are wonderful. The overwhelming problem is the management - Carlos and Vitek in particular. They are rude, unhelpful, unreasonable and any request or complaint is met with aggression and a determined attitude that you - the customer - are wrong and unreasonable. And how dare you be anything but deeply grateful for this gym! They seem to forget that they run a business and they do not have a clue how much they are disliked. I am not a teenager and have seen varying degrees of customer service of the years, but this is the first time I have come across the overwhelming nastiness of these two. We all feel pretty sorry for the staff, who really try their best and are quite embarrassed by them. Of course, they do not speak up as one can only imagine what would happen to them, given Vitel and Carlos' attitudes towards customers. Also, a lot of them are foreigners so are unlikely to have an infrastructure to support them. Next Gen has membership because venue and setting-wise, it is one of a kind in Auckland. Let's pray to the Gym Gods that competition arrives soon so we can go there instead!

Next-Gen-Supporter's Comment

What a joke of a review. I personally know the two people you speak of and they are both hard working and very polite. I would love to know your story and I bet it is a selfish one. Many of the staff have been their for years and are a very happy bunch. Perhaps You are wrong and perhaps if it is that bad should just leave the place rather than slander people behind the keyboard...classic bigoted, cowardly and ultimately self serving cyber bullying tactic = WEAK AND UTTER RUBBISH!

“Next Generation Ryde has one of the worst Customer Service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jungle2405 on 12/01/2015

To understand why I'm so frustrated at Ryde Next Generation membership manager, I have to explain a bit about the background of what happened. As an Early Christmas gift to my mother, I gave her the money to pay for a one year membership to next generation because she doesn't like venturing out of the house much and she finally found a place she liked, however after making the payment they continued to charge us for another 2 fortnightly payment of $55.60. So after they made my mother call several times and asked her to come in, this Suzie Fiurlong didn't even bother to show up. My mother was so frustrated that she asked me to contact her on her behalf. I tried calling many times and left messages for this Suzie Fiurlong to call me back but nothing, finally after days of calling I get her on the phone and this is where I found it inexcusable, I told her about the mistake that my mother uncovered and she said that she doesn't much care what I or my mother says, cause her computer is telling her that we payed it a month later. I told her I had a receipt of this transaction and she denied that it even exists, basically saying that I and my mother were lying, I asked her if that was what she was implying and she said I quote " I'm not talking to you about this anymore" And then HUNG UP ON ME. What kind of customer relations representative of a fairly big company has a manager working for them that deals with customers by hanging up on them. I was shocked by her condescending tone of voice throughout the whole conversation and her unwillingness to speak to me, as if her time was more precious then mine. I've recorded the conversation so I have decided to call her superiors and see what they will do. If I don't here from them, I am considering filing a law suite against them. I'll let you guys know what happened. Thanks for listening

“Classes that get cancelled; membership you can't get out...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by siCochran129 on 01/09/2014

All very nice when you walk in; lots of classes on offer (they'll get cancelled); I suppose it looks good to offer all these classes. An annual membership package that you must cancel even though you paid cash for fixed 12 months. I was a member of Chorley Next Generation and didn't give stated 3 months notice by a few days - I was then chased by debt collectors for an additional month! Even my swimming float was pinched from the side of the pool when I was swimming! My advice is avoid, buy a bicycle and a few weights of your own - much cheaper.

“Horrible Gold Digging Club : NEXT GENERATION”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DarionPurcell260 on 08/05/2014

DO NOT join Next Generation club I repeat D O N O T and please SPREAD THE WORD Yes the facilities are satisfactory. Equiped with Sauna, Spa, Pool, Gym, Group Classess etc. However, if you enjoy the pleasure of being ripped off financially, by all means sign up for this nuisance club I signed up for a 12 months membership with Next Generation @ Kings Park, PERTH Under unfortunate financial circumstances, I had to cancel I was advised by staff members and their Manager at Kings Park that cancelling is not possible. I am required to pay the full 12 months regardless of my condition Basically, they would not care if you are dead or alive or broke or OUT OF A JOB. If you bank account hits $0, Next Generation Club would not give a sh1t As long as Next Generation Club obtains their fortnightly payments, you can pretty much buzz off. Its all about the money. So, do not fall for the 'friendly' gestures and smiles upon signing up I was a member of several clubs in Perth. Never encountered a problem with cancellation/terminating my membership Upon signing up for the contract, I was advised that I have 1 month free membership in the 12 month contract (Jan 2014 - Jan 2015). Simple math would tell you that there are 11 months of payment to make However, after putting through the request to cancel, I was told that I HAVE TO PAY 12 months worth of payment (Jan 14 - Mar 15) I am beginning to wonder if these people had gone to school? That is additional 2 months. It makes NO complete sense It gets worse because; I have to make full payment for 14 months for a Gym/Club that I can no longer attend. Please do not ever come to Next Generation Club

“Poor Customer Service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dottiegirly on 15/08/2013

I went to the the SWINDON Next generation club as my gym had recently closed to ask about membership/prices and to have a look around. The girl at reception said no one was available to show me round and I would have to have a look on my own. The receptionist didnt phone/ask anybody, just a very curt "no one is available". yet there were 2 members of staff chatting a few feet away sitting down. She couldnt even give me any details of prices of the membership either. It wasnt as if the club was busy as there was only one lady behind me so she had the time. I had a quick look at the pool but as I was unfamiliar with the club I felt uncomfortable at walking round the gym in my work clothes with people looking at me like an idiot. So I decided to leave..........didnt know that you had to have a code to get out of the car park ! she hadnt told me that one ! Overall my view was poor from a potentional new customer point of view. The receptionist was rude, unhelpful and if she was one of my staff I would have made her go onto a training course to improve her lack of skills in that department ! Poor first impression of club !

“A tired trap!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 05/07/2013

I was (am) a member of Next Gen Perth South since it opened. In that time it has become run down and neglected. Staff have a poor attitude. When I moved to cancel my membership after 7 years, I was told I needed to give 3 months notice which has turned into 4 months. Contacting the club to try and stop the payments, I was told 'this is a head office thing' and 'I'll try and contact head office' I am yet to hear anything. Bitter pill to swallow after being a member for 7 years to fork out over $350 to leave! Avoid avoid!

I am in exactly the same situation! I could not believe they require 3 months notice, I assumed it would be 1 month. I plan to look at the original contract to confirm this was part of the conditions when I signed up years ago. I mean really what happens if you move or unhappy with the service? I have written a number of complaints over the years and none get answered!! Terrible customer service! I am going to see if I can sit down with manager '& negotiate to 1 month...

“Poor Gym with a poor attitude”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DanielBlack on 06/06/2013

I'm sorry I ever joined Next Generation Ryde. It is an overly expensive, messy gym with a poor layout and uninterested staff. Unorganised weights room with equipment left lying on the floor, more cafe and Internet space than gym space, members that disrespect the equipment and to top it off, when I tried to leave (after my 12 month membership) I find out I have to pay 6 x fortnightly payments before I can get out. 3 months and $315 before I can quit. Disgusting. When I contacted management about this they said that it was a regular complain but one they were prepared to do nothing about.

“random bank transactions by Next Generation, Bibra Lake”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/03/2013

After joining Next generation, they have started asking me for cash payments each time I go to the facility "because there has been a problem with direct debit". While doing that, they have also been deducting more than allowed from my bank account, and not even on the agreed direct debit days...........they are a complete rip off

“It juz sucks! what a rip off!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/03/2013

Im writing this review for next generation in New Zealand. I should say because its quite a young center over here the facilities are new which is nice but it doesnt worth the money! This is a very expensive gym to the service I received and Im very unhappy. They require 3 months notice to cancel the membership which is stupid!! worse than that if you have had your account on hold, it seems you gotta pay for a longer time so it would be about 5 months notice or even more!! Ive been to another gym before and now I think that one was much nicer and there was a better service. I definitely wont suggest next generation to people I know and I will suggest them not to make a big mistake! In short its juz a rip off!

“Social club with unsocial staff!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 26/10/2012

I was a member of this club for over two years, the male staff are very unfriendly and unapproachable. The club lacks seating in the changing room, showers are dirty and regularly are missing soap, lacks parking and I feel they have too many members that they cannot cater for, even with the new facilities. Finally they always seem to be have issues with the steam room / saunas & hot tubs . The big selling point was the opening hours but that has now been reduced. I would not recommend this gym, so maybe have a look around at other options. Also, there terms and conditions are all one sided so check them out before you sign (I guess this is always the case). On a positive note the reception staff always have a smile.

“Membership”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/07/2012

tried to get a free pass to check out the gym to potentially loog at joining...thought it wasnt a big ask considering other gymns boutique and large around Auckland do that & that Next Generation has a 2 week offer on for new membership. Talking to one of their sales consultants apparently they want to keep membership exclusive and its a lifestyle club so can only get pass if know someone there. good luck with gettting new members!

“NEXT GENERATION SUCKS”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/05/2012

My daughter joined Next Gen in Adelaide several years ago when she was about 13 or 14 and we were assured that, after the first year, the membership was on a month-by-month basis and she could cancel at any time. She cancelled her membership in March as she could no longer go there due to personal reasons and she had only used the club on a handful of times in the past two years, we let the April payment go through as it was near the end of the month when she had spoken to them. Imagine her distress when she received a letter from their "Sales Retention Administrator" regarding the non payment of May's membership. She spoke to this person and was basically told she was a liar when she said she had 'phoned up to cancel and asked why she hadn't completed an exit form (she wasn't told she had to when she'd rung). She has now been sent the form but it appears that Next Gen are insisting that she pay May's membership (plus a late fee) plus a further three months on top of that. Next Gen are disgusting. Whilst I am sure their facilities are wonderful, their methods of treating customers who no longer can use their facilities (through no fault of their own) are appalling.

“Broken nose because of weightlifter at David Lloyd...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rawshark on 24/01/2012

I used to be a member at David lloyd Dartford until had my face smashed in when a weight fell on me because some other member was weightlifting heavy weights and throwing them down on the floor. The vibration caused a bar to fall on my face, breaking my nose and wrist. I had my arm in plaster and couldn't train for a month or so, and yet they wouldn't even let me off of paying my membership fees even though the injury occured in their gym. I have since decided to take legal action against them, but they are completely denying that there was ever any member that does olympic style weightlifting in their gym and that they wouldn't allow that in there. I find this ridiculous as I know of several people that have complained about this one individual because not only was he dangerous to other members with his clean and jerking weights that were right on the limits of his capabilities, but it was also very annoying because the whole place shook when he dropped them from above his head. I believe they have since gotten rid of him, but not before he caused my injuries I would like to hear from you if you have been to David Lloyd Dartford and can confirm that I am telling the truth about this other member because david lloyd are basically calling me a liar

Guest's Response to rawshark's Review

Written on: 09/02/2012

Rawshark needs to be in possession of all the facts and is clearly suffering from sour grapes.

1. The member who was olympic weight lifting is still a member at Dartford!
2. Dartford has never denied that certain members were olympic weight lifting in the gym, what Dartford did deny was that the susbsequent vibrations caused a barbell to leap out of its holder and land on someones face!
3. Life fitness confirmed that the bench in question was fully operational and that it was not possible for vibrations to cause a bar bell to leap out of a 2 inch deep holder
4. The lifting platform has been removed because of the noise disturbing other users both in the gym and the studio and the vibrations causing issues with light fittings in the floor below.

Clearly rawshark was lifting beyond his capabilities and came unstuck, rather embarrassing really.
Anyone who lifts weights seriously should know that a spotter is essential if you are lifting heavy or training to failure.

“David Loyd Gym at Dartford frequently has problems...”

written by on 08/04/2011

David Loyd Gym at Dartford frequently has problems with broken airconditioning. Told yesterday that it will take 6 weeks to get a part in. What a joke. Last summer the air con was broken on four occasions. For at least two weeks each time. TV monitors frequently dont work. Not a premium gym worth the money sadly.

The clubs has fabulous facilities that are good for all ages, from the tennis, to pool and classes. The staff are really friendly and always willing to give assistance to members to ensure that they have a pleasent time.

From experience ever gym you go to you will meet disgruntal people and people who just complain about everything and anything when they did not read the contract to begin with in the first place. If they just took the effort to understand the whole contract they would be able to appreciate why the contract is there in the first place and be able to enjoy the facilities to the max.

PEOPLE SO JUST STOP COMPLAINING!!!

I tried to sign up with NG (Kings Park) and was "welcomed" by a tip of the finger hand shake and a whole lot of attitude from a young sales rep. Cutting a long story short, when I asked about a price difference between different clubs, she abruptly said "well join from Bibra lake then!"
Stunned with this remark, I told her that I didn't appreciate her attitude and she talked right back at me saying "well I don't appreciate your disrepect" what the!!!!!!!!!! So shocked by this and stunned that there is no feedback forum to the head office.

“Over priced and over rated. Was a member on and off...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 19/01/2011

Over priced and over rated. Was a member on and off over a number of years, the last encounter left a bitter sweet taste, there is absolutely no customer care in place. I last joined for a 3 month membership, gave plenty of notice to end my membership after 3 months but because they said they never received my letter and would not accept my copy they sent the one month debt off to ANC who basically take on debts so they could dish out their bullying tactics. There was absolutely no regard to the fact that I had been a member on since the Club had opened. It is all about taking your money! And on another note, the restaurant/canteen is awful, very very slow, poor quality food for the money you pay. Would not recommend it to anyone.

written by on 02/11/2008

I use the Chorley David Lloyd gym. Large array of equipment compared with other gyms in the area, swimming pool mostly has lanes free (obviously avoid peak times!) Tending to look a bit shabby, restaurant needs gutting and renewing. The many classes advertised rarely actually happen and are generally expensive.
