“Deceitful and completely not worth the money”

Written on: 10/11/2015 by Bradyn232 (1 review written)

Very deceitful. Read the small print of the T&C very carefully. They will not mention the 3 month notice needed to end membership even if you are paying via an annual membership. I can expect this as I should have read the terms closely but they will directly lie to you. They will also lie about various services available. In fact anything to make a sale honest or not! Also even if you give notice and hand your membership card back they will later denis this happened as still land you with a… Read Full Review

“Deceptive and overpriced”

Written on: 03/11/2015 by lewislennard (1 review written)

I've been a member of David Lloyd for a few times before but this time round I signed up for a years contract without being notified of a 3 month cancellation period which is ridiculous. Contacting the management at David Lloyd Stevenage was also a waste of time. The facilities also have not been updated for many years apart from the showers being started recently. Very disappointing for a £50 a month gym. There is one locally that is slightly more expensive but you get so much more Inc… Read Full Review

“Narborough David Lloyd”

Written on: 23/10/2015

Overpriced, unhelpful, just generally rubbish. Childrens facilities absolutely atrocious, they advertise childrens classes in age bands (3-4 / 5-8 and 9-11) because they can't be bothered they group together the 5-11 year olds and let them play football between themselves! Imagine a 5 year old playing against an 11 year old, no brainer really! 5 year old ended up in tears! was advised by a childrens team member 'we can't watch all of them at the same time!' in reference to 5 year old being… Read Full Review

“Money their Priority, Not Customer Service”

Written on: 21/09/2015 by xgPuckett303 (1 review written)

After being unable to use the facilities for a number of years I finally decided to cancel my subscription, which was easier said than done. After writing a cancellation letter I cancelled my Direct Debit after the required time had passed. DL pursued me for the payment of subscription fees as I could not prove the RM had delivered my letter to them. They then required an additional 4 months subscription, although the notification period is 3 months. Whilst in the process of clarifying the… Read Full Review

“Money minded non caring Company”

Written on: 14/09/2015 by jeyanthi (1 review written)

I was a member for few Months, They trick you and get you pay upfront. Never pay upfront. You won't be able to cancell it. Even if you cancell, You have to pay money for the period of cancelling. Still lots of money per month. There is no communication among staff. One will says You don't need to pay the other one will says you have to pay. They will send emails after emails asking for money. They won't reply for your email about the money You already paid. Disgusting service. I lost my money… Read Full Review

“Misleading and deceitful company”

Written on: 04/09/2015 by leebowden (1 review written)

I would highly suggest doing your research before joining a David Lloyd Leisure gym, York. Their policies on membership are misleading and deceitful. The will also ignore you once they hand over the 'debt' to ARC who are equally rude and use bullying tactics… Read Full Review

“RIP OFF”

Written on: 23/08/2015 by KaleighMahoney (1 review written)

Gym - Equipment is very basic, other gyms ALOT cheaper have more, better and newer equipment. Personal trainers are over priced and not experienced. Pool - Shallow, cold and dirty Maintenance - Nothing gets fixed despite having 'In house maintenance' Kids club - All they do is colour in !!!!! The only good thing about David Lloyd is the tennis and I think thats what they spend all their money on forgetting that about 80% of the members join for pool or gym/classes… Read Full Review

“extortionate prices and age restricted entry”

Written on: 22/08/2015 by 489Roberts (1 review written)

my daughter rang up david lloyd to ensure that she ( 15 yrs old) could get in on her own, the staff member said that if she was with another member of any age then she could get in for free. My daughter then turned up at the gym and was refused entry because she had to have parental supervision, whilst the other member entered she had to walk for 40 minutes back home, david lloyd didn't trust her to swim properly in a swimming pool but did trust shed be safe on her own walking home on dangerous… Read Full Review

“Tennis coach bully”

Written on: 16/07/2015 by Esther81 (1 review written)

I have been a member of David Lloyd Dartford for years and really enjoyed my time at the club using the gym, pool and playing tennis. All of the staff were so friendly and lovely to be around. Last year the tennis team had a change of management and new tennis coaches have joined the club. Since then I have had nothing but rudeness from one particular tennis coach. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder. He has sworn at me, pushed past me when walking past me, gives me dirty looks and talks… Read Full Review

“Just what I was after”

Written on: 10/07/2015 by AxelSnow (1 review written)

Joined DL Dudley and have to say getting a different experience from most of the reviews here. No hard sell and staff have been really friendly and nice. Had a p/t in the gym the other day go out of his way to ask how I was doing as a new member, and before you think no he was not selling and PT sessions. Equipment is good and the facilities are going through a refurb. Left my previous gym and they made no effort to try and keep me as a customer, so suppose depends on what you are looking for… Read Full Review

“Not up to scratch”

Written on: 03/07/2015 by krumble_uk (1 review written)

DL's Hull is beginning to look a bit shabby. The roof tiling looks grubby in places and again, looks dated. Also, it keeps times which are not quite right - it closes early on a weekend and doesn't open that early for workers. The gym area is poorly ventilated and the aircon is poor. Also, groups of lads can be found swearing in the changing areas and generally been quite aggressive in the pool areas too… Read Full Review

“David Lloyd brook lands ”

Written on: 27/06/2015 by Americas433 (1 review written)

Good gym and friendly staff, I have never had any problems whilst being a member here. I think the reviews that people give for the brook lands branch are quite harsh, gym is really good and clean and the staff up there are really helpful, I recently had a session with a personal trainer who was really helpful and patient with me and showed me how everything worked and what to do to achieve my goal. Lovely pool and spa sauna steam room and jacuzzi and really good cafe with good food and wide… Read Full Review

“Be fully aware of how David Lloyd operate before joining.”

Written on: 26/06/2015 by sbHale416 (1 review written)

Reading the reviews of David Lloyd indicate one overriding aspect of how this company operates. Whichever branch you intend to join it appears that they are all run in accordance with what I can only assume is a top down policy namely - promise much (whether it is true, not fully true or a downright lie) and get the customer's fee, then ignore any complaint whilst (and this is the insidious part) appearing to be a caring company. This latter ploy is achieved by having comment boards and "How… Read Full Review

“They will say anything to get members but then don't care”

Written on: 06/06/2015 by Hudson334 (1 review written)

When we joined Farnham club we were promised guest passes & free spa passes as they didn't have time to show us around. When we asked for them after joining we were told it was no longer possible! Also they told us it was 1 month cancellation period-turns out it's 3. They rarely follow up complaints (such as lack of equipment). Also they say they will check how you are doing to keep you motivated-never happened, even with 1 family member only using the gym twice. Class instructors are the only… Read Full Review

The situation has changed for us thank God but l would never recommend any one to that gym . What they did to me and my… Read Full Review

“Chigwell David llyods ”

Written on: 07/05/2015 by JovaniBlake141 (1 review written)

STAY AWAY from the chigwell branch. Complete rip offs and they lie. Staff are all fake smiles etc and very unhelpful. I've been a member for two years and will not be renewing at the next renewal date. The gym cuts corners especially if you are a late night gym user. Fitness coaches strt packing the weights away at 10pm even though the gym has advertised as closing at 11pm. It's just a mess… Read Full Review

“Not at all welcoming ”

Written on: 13/04/2015

Me and a few of my friends had a visit to David Lloyd Exeter a few days back! From the outset the staff seemed like they just didn't want us to be there, and couldn't wait for us to leave. The facility's don't get much better! With an abundance of cardiovascular machines in the gym, on site spa facility's, on site physiotherapist, free wifi, Indoor and a heated outdoor swimming pool which was what mainly attracted me and my friends to try the place out . The outdoor pool definitley didn't… Read Full Review

“Categorically lied to by Sales about several things”

Written on: 10/04/2015 by jpr2x (1 review written)

Signed up stating well in advance a move to London and will be needing to change club part way through. I found the club nearest to my new place and told Reading BEFORE signing up, I was told it'd be fine, there would be no charge it happens all the time. Turns out I can't without paying a huge £92 a month which is insane! Now I can't cancel membership and I've lost £300 to a club I will NEVER trust and NEVER use again!… Read Full Review
