Written on: 24/03/2010 by Ron White (1 review written)

I picked up a "star Barstas leaflet and then registeredonline. As I did so it crossed my mind that it takes more than 1 person in a cafe to make a difference. I use Caffenero daily and not always the same one. I travel with work and find that the nero suits both my pocket and my taste buds.
Having said this...yet again I have to commend the Chichester East Street Nero...It is different to others in its ambience, Retro has been fashionable from time to time! The anachronistic Chichester nero has… Read Full Review

Written on: 10/02/2010 by lethers (1 review written)

Not the most salubrious of locations for ANY coffee shop but the moment I walked in it felt welcoming. The staff were efficient and friendly and even though busy where able to treat their customers as people rather than objects on a production line. The coffee is excellent as is the Hot Chocolate Milano… Read Full Review

“Having been a Nero fan, my loyalty is on the wane....”

Written on: 20/11/2009

Having been a Nero fan, my loyalty is on the wane. Their coffee is more to my taste than S'bucks or Costa, but the service and value for dosh is falling rapidly. For instance, at the central York branch at lunchtime today, service was dreadfully slow, depite there being only a moderate amount of customers, with only one fully trained member of staff in charge(and I remember HE was wearing a learner tee-shirt only the other day). I queued for am age, my tuna paninni took 20 minutes to arrive; it… Read Full Review

Caff Nero is by far the worst place in halifax. I'm never going there again and i certainly won't be recomending it, this needs reviewing Immediately. When i went i bought god knows what and spend £10 and quality of food was rubbish and a large coffee is not very large compared to nice places just like Costa coffee. I hated so much i had a closer look at the equipment and they was dirty, FILTHY infact and personly i HATED it as does everyone else i know that has been there. Not only am i NOT… Read Full Review

I welcome comments and reviews on anywhere I intend to visit or have visited in the past. However if you are going to comment on a individual place, please make sure you are not an ex member of staff nor a customer who has had a bad day. judging by your in-excusable spelling and use of the English language I can only assume you are more suited to your back street cafe which will do the full fried English Breakfast at £1.99 with salmonella eggs. I can state that upon experience Caff Nero (As it is actually spelt) is the best place for service, Coffee and price. And can easily call itself number one in the list of Coffee giants

I fully agree with the previous response to this review. I too have been in many Caffe Nero's around the country and have yet to find one where the service and products fail to impress. The staff are always polite, the coffee good, the food fresh and everything impeccably clean. If I did find something lacking, I'd quietly mention it to the manager. However, staff in any shop will be more easily polite to a reasonable customer and to be honest the reviewer doesn't exactly come across as reasonable. I wonder why they didn't just go to the 'nice' Costa Coffee? From my very few encounters in this 'nice' shop, I feel the reviewer would have been far more at ease there! One more point though ~ if you're going to comment on someone's bad spelling and grammar, you should at least check that your own is good!

“Oh how I wish I had been a "Mystery Shopper"....”

Written on: 24/09/2009 by jprdover (1 review written)

Oh how I wish I had been a "Mystery Shopper". Desparate for a good coffee called in to this cafe nero outlet with my partner. Ordered two Latte's. Girl taking order continued talking to her colleague and after preparing two cups, asked me very casually if I wanted "something" on my Cappacinno!(sic) I mentioned that I'd asked for Latte's at which she discustedly threw the prepared coffee's away and made two more. Grudgingly offered these to me and took my money. As soon as we could find a clean… Read Full Review

I have been buying my coffee at this branch of cafe nero for about 2-1/2 years now 5 days a week. The early morning (9am) staff just couldn't be better. Very very professional, great memories and the coffee is good too.
A thought for the management of Cafe Nero. If these people think of leaving do you best to prevent them… Read Full Review

I like Caffe Nero a lot and of all the large coffee chains I would rather pick Nero's than any of the others. I have visited number of the outlets all over England and have always found the staff to be friendly and very efficient. I especially like the loyalty card that you can get and although I don't drink loads of coffee, it does keep me going back to Caffe Nero's as I know I can get good coffee when I do go and that my 10th cup / takeaway would be free! I'm not a huge fan of the ready made… Read Full Review

Written on: 09/01/2009

Visited the Macclesfield branch of Cafe Nero just before Xmas. As mentioned above,...no card payments taken. As I was unaware of this until about to pay, I found myself in a situation where I was £1 short,...not what you want when you're stood there with a tray of hot drinks!...My son was with me luckily and was able to dash out to a nearby cashpoint. Nevertheless it meant my standing by the counter as the drinks got cooler until he returned. As I saw nothing anywhere to inform me of this,...I… Read Full Review

My friend, who is allergic to nuts found a peanut in a muffin she was told was nut free.
Milk in her tea smelt stale.
I have to say i ordered a Mocha Latte And it was very nice,
though a little strong.

My double chocolate biscotti was very nice, even though I thought it had a random taste of raw egg, but it really tastes of cake mixture, which i love!

i would probably return there but i wouldn't return at lunch time.

overall : food. okay.
cleanliness. poor in my… Read Full Review

Cafe Nero - The expert here! From South Ken opening onto the roll out, I have used many of the branches regulary since I travel to all parts of Central and south London to work. They are such a success; in terms of good coffee - I am an expresso or machiato drinker, so refer to 'pure' coffee drink types; in terms of atmosphere - the peaceful playing of classical or opera in busy business areas is still pretty unique; and most certainly in terms of staff. They are almost always great, working… Read Full Review

Have been a fan of Caffe Nero's for a while as they claim to have the best coffee this side of Italy, a big statement indeed. However of late the prices have gone up the mugs they serve in ( no small in most ) are soup bowls which you can't finish and the coffee hit and miss.
I have yet to see a coffee served like this in Italy. Staff training wouldn't go astray either

May I say that your Exeter (Queen St. Cafe Nero shop) is a pleasure to enter and have a coffee, mine is a cappuccino and sometimes a cake or ciabatta. The shop is manageress is excellent and always has a smile and time to speak to you as do the rest of her staff, ( I have mention this to her and the comment she gave was I like to treat my customers the same way I would like to be treated when go out).

The following is a verbatim copy of an email sent to Caffe Nero seven days ago. I didn't even get confirmation of receipt, let alone a response:
My wife and I have been great fans of Caffe Nero since you opened and would go out of our way to search out a bar, however, this year we have been made increasingly aware of reduced quality and a questionable marketing direction.
i) the starbucking of the size of cups; gone is the original small cup previously used that are standard in Italian bars… Read Full Review

Luisedickson's Response to Laturb's Review

What a load of rubbish you have wrote. Cup size has not changed since opening. If you did your research you would know the ingredients of a cappucino is 1/3 coffee, 1/3 milk, 1/3 froth. Caffe nero has won awards for the best paninis for the last 5 years. As for assistant barista - what are you talking about. I suggest you get a life mate.

I do totally agree with the 2 above comments on your review. What a total load of rubbish. A Cappuccino "senza" Chocolate does not and never has existed on the Caff Nero Menu - So how would you expect a member of staff to understand what the bloody hell you were asking for even if they were ENGLISH. I would go as far as to say you try to be a professional complainer? How many times have you managed to get a FULL refund. Keep doing what you do Caff Nero

348631_Joshratchi's Response to Laturb's Review

Written on: 01/03/2008

The so called " assistant baristas" dont exist. Those are baristas in training, people that have recently joined the company. The fact that you see alot of them means there is a high staff rotation, you might want to leave some feedback on that issue in the stores comment card box (many times thats by far the best way to alert the manager of something that needs improvement) That is always a problem, but also a fact of life. This is mostly the case in London where a lot of staff are students that have come for a while to learn or perfect English (hence the language issue). While it is true that the brand is evolving and some of the changes do not necessarily please every customer, testing new things, be it products, processes and so on is the best way to find out what works and what doesnt. Im sure you will see it with different eyes as the store adapt to the many new things that are happening in what is still very much a growing being.
