“Shocking prices of the food”

★★☆☆☆

written by Kendall115 on 03/01/2024

I thoroughly enjoyed the cinema and the overall experience. However, I was taken aback by the food prices; they were quite shocking! I had expected a more substantial portion of popcorn for the price of 7.5 pounds, but what I received was merely a small paper bag. While I understand that businesses need to make a profit, this pricing feels like pure greed and a lack of respect for customers. I've decided that I'll be avoiding this cinema in the future due to what I perceive as unethical business practices.

“Worst customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hatecineworld on 08/02/2023

Where do I even start? Last year my and my partner received emails that the cineworld membership was going up in price and if we no longer wanted our membership we could cancel to not receive the new cost. I proceeded to email to cancel both memberships and had to send numerous (around 5) emails to cancel it. I got a generic email to confirm memberships had been cancelled. Then lo and behold I got charged for one membership in January. I tried to call but they were utterly useless and kept saying they couldn't help and I would need to email. I emailed both customer service emails with all proof of correspondence (and unfortunately they don't chain emails and do they are all separate emails). They then said (despite evidence), that I never emailed and even if I had I was too late to cancel, which makes so sense as: A) it was part of their T&Cs due to the price increase that if I cancelled within a certain period I wouldn't be charged, which we did B) one wasn't charged contradicting their reasoning Now I just get generic replies that they have now cancelled it and that they won't refund for the false payment made in Jan. Thier emails are rude, place fault on you and don't accept admin errors on their part. Awful service, awful team. I will NEVER use cineworld ever again even if it was to be my nearest cinema. I know they keep going into administration but taking money and not refunding it is a new low for a company. If I could give negative stars, I would.

“York cineworld”

★★☆☆☆

written by Gillespiecj81 on 23/02/2022

Went to cinema and 2 members of staff on till, 1 person in front of me but took 10 mins to get served as the girl on the till had to serve at ice cream counter as well. Plenty of other staff stood round not doing anything. Another person did come to serve on till but everyone who was at back off queue piled to front of this till. Not impressed and won’t be rushing back. There should be people who are on food counters so people who just want food can go there separately after buying tickets to reduce waiting time.

It's a fantastic place to work. The management was fantastic and went out of their way to assist me with anything I needed. My teammates were fantastic;

“Worst. Cinema. Ever...!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ROTWING on 04/01/2022

Cineworld cinemas, Where to start...? If you like paying extortionate prices to go and watch a film, people talking alway through the films, staff being non existent to deter distruption and outdated auditoriums with terrible sound proof walls then this is the best cinema chain to use My experience may be bias as this review is solely for the Sheffield branch where i use to give all my custom to but over the years it has degraded into what can only be described and one if the most unpleasant cinemas ive been to in all my 38 years alive Your guaranteed your going to be paying alot of money for a sup par experience Usually the first let down comes down to the viewing of the film itself which is usually disrupted with people talking or using phone pretty much all the way through the screening. Theres not a staff member in sight to take any action and it usually falls upon yourself to go find one and ask them if they could help with this but they couldn't care less I noticed a few years back the auditoriums are in dire need of rejuvenation due to a few experience watching a film and being able to hear it playing again in the screens either side, pretty distracting The staff are rude and im sure some would agree that in a world of films where there are scenes mid and post credits they feel this is still part of the cinema experience. Sadly Cineworld disagree as within the first few seconds of the main film ending the lights are on and the staff are walking about rustling binliners to tidy up, i appreciate they have a job to do but it just seems rude and ignorant to the customers overall experience

“Great Experience”

Theatre and the screening were good, but it is costly. Even snack price is double, one popcorn cost too much.

“Expensive food”

★★★☆☆

written by Kraggy on 14/03/2020

Attended Cineworld Telford 14/03/20. I have never had a problem with the actual movie experience. It is the cost of food that is extortionate. One regular popcorn, nachos and 2 x Pepsi came to £18.00! The staff and Cineworld itself should be embarrassed by these greedy prices which, at a guess, have a 500%+ mark up on profit. By all means go and watch a good movie, but AVOID buying from the counter. I will never buy food there again and will take my own. You have been warned!

“Cineworld Eastbourne complaint to CEO”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SARAH4712 on 25/09/2019

Mr CEO CINEWORLD Cinemas Plc Re: Incident with duty manager at Eastbourne cinema on evening the 26th August 2019 Subsequent to our previous complaint on the 30th July about duty manager at Eastbourne cinema. We have since cancelled our unlimited memberships. Customer service promptly made refunds and although we have received no explanation nor apology for staff’s worrying behaviour towards us we have assumed this matter was being dealt with and solved internally. Since then we have visited cinema on two occasions giving prior notice to customer service who asked us to give them feedback after our visits. However during our last visit on Monday the 26th August with pre-paid entry tickets a new duty manager has barred our entry to cinema under pretext of us being rude to member of staff. I assume his ban relates to previous incident on the 30th July. Was the ban authorised by yourself ? Moreover, duty manager clearly admitted that face recognition linking the on-site CCTV with biometric parameters harvested from our membership cards’ facial photographs was used to gain tip-off of our entry into shopping centre where cinema is located. This is unlawful practice. Cineworld Terms&Conditions ‘’ Terms of Entry’’ paragraph (6.4) ‘’ Any Cineworld duty manager may refuse entry to any person onto premises of the relevant cinema at any time and will be under no obligation to provide a reason to that Person’’. Those terms are unfair, unlawful and need scrutiny by OFT under the unfair terms in consumer contracts. As we already held pre-paid tickets, barring our entry, when there was no proof of any interaction with any member of staff during our visit is unlawful under Consumer Rights Act 2015 and under the Trading Standards law. Operating in such unlawful manner, when proved will affect renewal of your operating licence from local authority. Incident with your duty manager was illegal, embarrassing, insulting and unnecessary. It confirms poor standards of training and culture of staff’s ganging against customers to penalise and settle grudges against them. We are indeed very worried that if staff is taking law into their hands and having access to member’s private details including home address we may become a target. Please provide evidence to substantiate banning us from the cinema including what disciplinary action is being taken to prevent any more incidents with your staff. We request full explanation and apology within the next 10 days or we will contact local MP and authorities to scrutinise practice of your business in Eastbourne. We look forward to your response

“cineworld Sheffield OUTSTANDING!!!”

★★★★★

written by RayHew on 20/07/2018

Bought this as a gift for our parents that are both in their 80s. Initially we struggled with parking luckily someone just came out as we were searching. We entered the cinema and went straight to the VIP desk. From the first meeting of the staff member on the door the experience was amazing we were shown around and young girl inside explained everything to us, then left us to help ourselves the amount of food and the choice was unbelievable food to sort all tastes. You could have as much or as little as you wished the staff were extremely helpful but never in the way. If you needed any help they were only to happy to oblige. The food was lovely and drinks as many as you like. As you emptied your plates a member of staff was very quickly on hand to clear them away. Our parents loved it, then moving into the screen with popcorn and drinks in hand we easily found our seats with easy to understand instructions available. Very comfy seats and loads of room. The whole experience was fantastic well worth the £29. Would definitely recommend it to anyone and will most certainly be giving it another go in the near future. Thank you to all the staff for making it a memorable and very enjoyable afternoon.

“Audio volume”

★★☆☆☆

written by longcase on 04/10/2017

Recently visited Cineworld at Shaw ridge Swindon. Unfortunately our cinema experience was totally ruined due to the audio level being excessively high. Even with ear plugs the level was still penetrating and uncomfortable. It was particularly bad during the ads and pre-views. It is a great shame that cinemas in general these days persist with this highly penetrating {and possibly dangerous} level of audio. It was never like this in the days of audio on film. In future we will wait until the videos are released, and view in the comfort of our own home.

“cineworld ethics”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MarcusCrawford on 18/11/2016

I went to Cineworld last Wednesday and I was greeted by a old man who stunk of cannabis, I entered the facility to watch a Disney film with my 7 children in hope to cheer them up as they only got a iPhone 7 for their birthday. A man was shouting abusive language to which I felt the need to exit the place before I even entered the cinema room.

“Bad since the change from Empire ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Shel77 on 26/10/2016

Quite a few people were confused or seating arrangement had been mucked up via booking online (website is terrible compared to Empires one) My biggest comfort when taking the kids to see their films is the sweets but they tasted terrible again compared to the time before.

“ABSOLUTELY APPALLING WEBSITE - cinema not too bad”

★☆☆☆☆

written by judylugg on 19/09/2016

CINEWORLD: Actually wonder if they want anyone to see what they are showing - in my case, I love Opera and Ballet = guess what - they have stuff on there from 2012 and it seems impossible to find any that may be current? Some subjects, even from 2012, are saying that they are still awaiting pictures? The mind boggles! Website obviously put together by a bunch of illiterate idiots. It is dark and dismal and the 'search' facility is unworthy of the epithet - sometimes you MAY obtain what you asked for, however mostly it just comes up with what it feels like! It is so bad today that I am just about to email the CEO, Mr Mooky Greidinger to ask him if the company REALLY wants customers or not! My local Cinema at Bentley Bridge Wolverhampton, is actually not too bad; it is reasonably clean, staff are fairly friendly although a bit dim BUT it does suffer from a lack of indicator notices to tell you where to buy tickets - they can actually be bought at the food counters, however it does NOT tell you that anywhere. Diabolical state of affairs if they TRULY want to serve their WOULD-BE customers.

“Cineworld Huntingdon”

★★★☆☆

written by on 06/04/2016

testerday went and saw The Huntsman, A Winters Tale. Loved the movie itself. During the advertisements the sound was so loud, it was painful. i was hoping when the trailers and movie commenced it would get better. No way. I sat there with my fingers in my ears and was about to get up and walk out to complain to the management. The movie started, sound did not lower, so sat throughout the movie with my fingers in my ears to try and reduce the sound. this has happebned everytime I have been to the movies, this is why I don't go often. I am sure the decibel level is way above what is good for the human ear. Please would the Management think twice and adjust the sound to a 'dull roar'. I want to see the Jungle Book, buit sitting through the trailer, i was nearly crying with pain.
