“Our preferred cinema”

Written on: 21/06/2012 by reviewkitten (295 reviews written)

Before we moved the only cinema choices we had were the Odeon and Vue. The Odeon's were always a bit worn out and the screens were sometimes a bit scratched and old and the seats uncomfortable unless you forked out for Premiere seats... The Vue was pretty nice and unfortunately we moved too far away from our nearest one to be able to visit anymore. Anyway. Our local Cineworld is pretty good, it has a nice layout with a big foyer and is generally clean. The screens are good and their IMAX… Read Full Review

“Cineworld Ashton, queues huge, price large, staff rude”

Written on: 08/06/2012

Never seen queues like it, 25 minute wait in the queue. £35.50 for three tickets. Staff overloaded and did not say anything but "you morons come here! I cannot serve any quicker." Hopeless, Odeon in Rochdale cheaper and far more pleasant… Read Full Review

“Very loud, grainy and dark screen.”

Written on: 08/06/2012

Went to see the Avengers Assemble film today at the Brighton marina Cineworld complex. First thing I noticed was the volume was incredibly loud, it seemed much to loud compared to my previous visit in 2009 when I went to see Star trek. Additionally, the screen itself seemed dark and grainy, the darker scenes in the film were hard to make out Was a bit of a dissapointment… Read Full Review

“customer service non-existent - newport south wales”

Written on: 03/05/2012 by sunnyskies (1 review written)

I have visited my local Cineworld several times but after my experience last night (Orange Wednesday) I will never go again!!Stuff em!! Will visit Vue next time. Staff training is non-existent, the management is rude and customer service is a completely alien term and there is no evidence of it in the slightest. The queues were horrendous, by the time you've paid for your ticket and got some drink and eats you can safely assume that your film will be half over. They've got this rule that you… Read Full Review

“unlimited pass”

Written on: 12/04/2012

Me and my other half visited The o2 to watch a film last week in the sky superscreen which is the biggest screen eg like imax but we noticed there was an area upstairs called sky balcony so we asked if we can have tickets for that we were told we have to pay FULL price for a ticket. We asked can we pay an extra charge as we have an unlimited card but was told No we cant we need to purchase a ticket at full price which is not fair as we pay £14.99 a month and this shouldnt be a problem plus… Read Full Review

It's not fair? Promised offers?

Did you read the T&C's? I'm guessing not, as if you did, you would have answers to your complaints.

“Appalling, rude and ridiculous ”

Written on: 05/04/2012

Today, my mum, my friends and I travelled a 40 minute journey to Cineworld Chichester to see 21 Jump Street. We were all excited, ready to watch the film; tickets bought. We went to go through, only to be asked if we had ID. I thought it was some kind of joke. No where on the website, in the cinema or the ticket machine does it state that you need ID to get into a 15, seeing as I'm 17 I was deeply offended. The ticket man was rather rude about the situation and treated us as if it was obvious… Read Full Review

It states on the website that proof of age will be required for 12A, 15 and 18 films.

Have you never been to the cinema?

“They helped loads”

Written on: 11/03/2012 by sarahisles75 (2 reviews written)

I recently went out as usual to the pictures, only this time I tripped over my lace in the lobby and went tumbling over. The manager quickly came over and checked I was okay. They went and got some ice for my ankle and gave me a free coke as I felt a little faint. They also once I was finished let me watch the film for free- how kind considering I fell over and not because of them. Thanks!… Read Full Review

“cineworld could be so much more....”

Written on: 02/03/2012

Cineworld cinemas are the uk's biggest chain of cinemas and because it is the only GOOD cinema where I live,I like going there a lot. Good things: -Audiotorium walls are fited with a kind of thick wallpaper which reduces echo's so it is very quiet. -A very wide choice of refreshments which are all delicious. Bad things: -Staff are just complete idiots -When its crowded, the queue's are just horrendous,as there is hardly any staff at the box office. and you just cant move any part of yuor… Read Full Review

“Cineworld : Worst ever!”

Written on: 02/03/2012 by Geggus (1 review written)

Considering the price was almost a third higher than what I usually pay, I would've expected at least a reasonable viewing exeperience. This wasn't to be though. Attempting to watch The Woman In Black in a crowded cinema was always going to be difficult noise-wise, but this was ridiculous. Now while people making noise isn't the cinemas fault, it took 2/3 of the film before staff dealt with it, and succeeded in causing as much disturbance as the noise-makers. Any atmosphere built up by the… Read Full Review

“Ticket Machines Only”

Written on: 25/01/2012 by quickweh (1 review written)

Had to help 3 people, one disabled, to obtain tickets from a machine. This is the only option available at this cinema. There is nobody to help, no advice on where to seek help. Plenty of bodies to sell overpriced food and drinks. If you turn up without a credit or debit card you will not see the film, there is no cash option on the machines. It could be described as the Ryanair of the cinema world but Ryanair at least offer some value for money… Read Full Review

“took out 12 month cineworld pass”

Written on: 17/01/2012 by monroe21 (2 reviews written)

hi, i love going to the cinema as films are one of my favourite things. I decided to take out a cineworld pass as thought £13.50 was good value for money and means i can go whenever I want. After 6-7 months, I had not been using the pass as much as getting to the nearest cinema can be difficult as it is not local to me (i do not drive so rely on public transport to the marina) i been told that it is impossible to cancel the cineworld pass until you have completed a 12 month subscription..this… Read Full Review

“WOOD GREEN CINEWORLD - PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED BY STAFF...”

Written on: 09/01/2012 by Mohammed_123 (1 review written)

My girlfriend and I were in Wood Green Cineworld on 21st December 2011 waiting to watch a movie. There was a long queue of people in a line waiting to enter the screening area, hence I decided to wait in the seating area. When they started letting people inside the screening area, I approached the counter right next to it as it was totally empty and I was unaware which film the queue was for. On presenting my tickets to 'Mr Shahid' who is an employee of Cineworld told me in an very aggressive… Read Full Review

“For The Love Of God Don't Eat The Popcorn!”

Written on: 03/11/2011 by Sian_A (2 reviews written)

This was my first visit to the Haymarket Cinema in London. I had high expectations being in the West End, and to be fair the venue does have a lot of character and the seats were really comfortable and they'd made the best of an old building which I appreciated and quite liked. I understand that London cinemas will automatically charge more for tickets so the extra few £ wasn't unexpected. What I was absolutely appaulled with though was the popcorn. We got one sweet and one salted, neither… Read Full Review

“Awful Wait to buy tickets Awful quality ”

Written on: 27/10/2011 by Pete-Review (2 reviews written)

Cineworld have closed their box offices and are selling tickets at the food counters to save on staff and sell you food you don't want seemingly to boost profits. Just seen contagion on Orange Wednesday the ticket machines not working and the Que was half hour, we nearly missed the show. Once in the show the picture quality is awful grainy low reslution poor colours and way too loud even for a deaf old so and so like me. Food prices are absolute joke with the best part of a tenner getting some… Read Full Review

“Cineworld - Really?!”

Written on: 06/10/2011 by Racki (1 review written)

Firstly I am very disappointed at the range of movies shown at our local cineworld. Having initially taken out the unlimited card due to the closeness of the cinema to our house, quite often if we want to see a Bollywood, foreign or slightly niche movie we have to travel an extra 30 miles each way to a different cinema to see it. Most of these films that aren't shown coincidently do have poster advertisements at our local cineworld. There are 9 screens so it baffles me why they will have the… Read Full Review

“Cineworld- Glasgow”

Written on: 18/08/2011 by lynsey84 (5 reviews written)

Im an unlimited card holder of 6 years so visit the Cineworld Glasgow quite frequently. Overall i think the unlimited card is great value for money, the cinema is nice, clean, comfortable and the staff are pretty good (had a couple of occasions where i've not been impressed with staff, but nothing major) Only issues i have: One is a common complaint for unlimited card holders which is the not being able to pre book. It can be a total pain when u wanna see a new movie and you have to go early… Read Full Review
