The adverts preceding the film gradually increase in volume to accustom your ears to the film. If they didn't do so you'd probably be prosecuting them for damage to your hearing.

“subtitles ”

Written on: 06/11/2012 by phluke (1 review written)

Just got home after spending 1hour in the cinema cineworld.. Booked on line. Arrived early. Bought hotdog and coke £7.45p.then waited for the few people to enter the selected screen door. Watched no endless adverts and finally the main event arrived.Skyfall. It was in subtitles. I was gutted it was very distracting for viewing so I got up and left. The staff at the box office said they didn't realise either. I said no where was subtitles advertised for this screening. They agreed they… Read Full Review

“Cineworld Witney”

Written on: 02/11/2012

I've visited Cineworld Witney twice this year to see "Fly fishing in Yemen" and "Sky Fall". The presentation is absolutly poor, "Fly fishing in Yemen" the sound was out of sync and also the image wasn't clear on the right hand of the screen. "Sky Fall" the picture had no depth, the Blacks were crushed and no clarity of the image, it was like looking at film screen in daylight. I do not recomend anyone who appreciates good quality film projected images to visit this cinema. Cineworld Witney is… Read Full Review

“Absolutely useless.”

Written on: 31/10/2012 by Cineworldarebad (1 review written)

I tried to book tickets online. Before I completed transaction my session timed out. Spoke to them the next day and they blamed bank. Phoned again and was promised by an agent that he would fax my bank. 5 days on I speak to bank and they did nothing. They have £81 of my money that I have to wait a week for to be returned. They admitted that this time out happens a lot but the have no idea what to do about it. I have also had problems with the local Harlow branch. My daughters and friends… Read Full Review

“CineWorld ”

Written on: 24/08/2012 by MrTambourineMan (12 reviews written)

I think what lets most cinema's down is the choice and price of the food available for refreshment, and Cineworld is no exception. I know that pop corn costs buttons to make and that Coke (no matter how big a bucket you serve it in) is essentially cheap sugary & fizzy water so how they get away with charging £8 for a "DEAL" I'll never know. I can get the same popcorn from Aldi for less than a quid and I can get 2 cans of Coke in a multipack for about £0.70 - WHICH I DO! I know that people… Read Full Review

“Cineworld Rip-off”

Written on: 19/08/2012

Cineworld is such a rip-off. Over-priced tickets and over priced refreshments with Staff that are so far stuck up their own backside that they don't care about the customer. Its a waste of money for what you get. Sure the leg room is better than an average cinema but at £3 more? Totally not worth it. For a bag of sweets and a large drink It cost me £6.05, to get the same at my local cinema it costs me £3.75. Safe to say I will never be attending a cineworld cinema again. Complete rip off and… Read Full Review

“Cineworld Cambridge”

Written on: 16/08/2012 by rabreview (1 review written)

They only have TWO ticket collection machines, and on the last two visits they were BOTH out of order. The cinema is understaffed, so there's never anybody at the ticket kiosk - meaning you have to queue for ages at the snack counter. Complete pain in the backside when you've booked your tickets online. Don't bother with Orange Wednesdays - the electronic sign at the ticket kiosk downstairs will claim that tickets are still available for a film, then you queue up for 25 minutes (staff poorly… Read Full Review

“Shocking customer service- Aberdeen union square”

Written on: 07/08/2012 by Aberdonians (1 review written)

Shocking customer service, Management should train their staff about some customer service skills, especially Steve who works at ticket check desk. He doesn't have a clue how to speak to customers and listen if someone is trying to explain. We were accused of misusing cineworld card and was told that we intentionally used someone else card for the movie, tried to explain him we gave wrong card by mistake and all group have unlimited cards and we will not do something like that as all cards were… Read Full Review

“Poor sound and poor picture”

Written on: 21/07/2012

Southampton - Batman:TDKR. Way too loud. I'm a drummer but my 44 year old ears were hurting afterwards. My daughters were hurting too. With the volume at such high levels you missed out on the subtleties. The picture had poor contrast so dark scenes (this is Batman so there are lots) were hard to watch and determine. Picture was not sharp and was a poor representation of what digital cinema is about… Read Full Review

“A great little cinema”

Written on: 10/07/2012 by Mi55Behaviour (8 reviews written)

cineworld is a little expensive, but then all cinemas are at the moment. I go there maybe twice a month (depending on what showing) and, so long as you pick the right time/day (ie. avoid Friday/Saturday nights), it's a great quiet place to watch movies in peace. Could it be improved? Maybe. The price would be a starting point (for the movies and the snacks). The floors aren't always spotless - depending on when you go, but they do always have the best movies and they get then as soon as they… Read Full Review

“D-Box seats as an Unlimited card holder? No chance”

Written on: 29/06/2012 by Ollyc1980 (1 review written)

We have recently had the D-Box seats installed at our local Cineworld, however as an Unlimited Card holder, it is not likely we will ever get to use them as we can only get tickets on the day of the screening. When D-Box is booked up well in advance by non-unlimited card holders, we will never be able to get tickets on the day. I would assume someone who "subscribes" to a cinema should be able to use the fancy new vibro chairs! But computer says no! Do I want to wait a month after Spiderman… Read Full Review

On the 12th of June i sent the follwoing email: On the 25th May 2012 I called to find out when I had to notify you if wanting to cancel by account. I spoke to a lovely young lady who asked why I wanted to cancel and that she could offer me a free month ( with no tie into a new contract) or a £20 voucher for popcorn etc. I said I would speak to my partner about it and could I call back. She said yes, this was not a problem and I asked when I needed to call back to ensure no further payment was… Read Full Review

“Our preferred cinema”

Written on: 21/06/2012 by reviewkitten (295 reviews written)

Before we moved the only cinema choices we had were the Odeon and Vue. The Odeon's were always a bit worn out and the screens were sometimes a bit scratched and old and the seats uncomfortable unless you forked out for Premiere seats... The Vue was pretty nice and unfortunately we moved too far away from our nearest one to be able to visit anymore. Anyway. Our local Cineworld is pretty good, it has a nice layout with a big foyer and is generally clean. The screens are good and their IMAX… Read Full Review

“Very loud, grainy and dark screen.”

Written on: 08/06/2012

Went to see the Avengers Assemble film today at the Brighton marina Cineworld complex. First thing I noticed was the volume was incredibly loud, it seemed much to loud compared to my previous visit in 2009 when I went to see Star trek. Additionally, the screen itself seemed dark and grainy, the darker scenes in the film were hard to make out Was a bit of a dissapointment… Read Full Review

“customer service non-existent - newport south wales”

Written on: 03/05/2012 by sunnyskies (1 review written)

I have visited my local Cineworld several times but after my experience last night (Orange Wednesday) I will never go again!!Stuff em!! Will visit Vue next time. Staff training is non-existent, the management is rude and customer service is a completely alien term and there is no evidence of it in the slightest. The queues were horrendous, by the time you've paid for your ticket and got some drink and eats you can safely assume that your film will be half over. They've got this rule that you… Read Full Review

Me and my other half visited The o2 to watch a film last week in the sky superscreen which is the biggest screen eg like imax but we noticed there was an area upstairs called sky balcony so we asked if we can have tickets for that we were told we have to pay FULL price for a ticket. “Appalling, rude and ridiculous ”

Written on: 05/04/2012

Today, my mum, my friends and I travelled a 40 minute journey to Cineworld Chichester to see 21 Jump Street. We were all excited, ready to watch the film; tickets bought. We went to go through, only to be asked if we had ID. I thought it was some kind of joke. No where on the website, in the cinema or the ticket machine does it state that you need ID to get into a 15, seeing as I'm 17 I was deeply offended. The ticket man was rather rude about the situation and treated us as if it was obvious… Read Full Review

“They helped loads”

Written on: 11/03/2012 by sarahisles75 (2 reviews written)

I recently went out as usual to the pictures, only this time I tripped over my lace in the lobby and went tumbling over. The manager quickly came over and checked I was okay. They went and got some ice for my ankle and gave me a free coke as I felt a little faint. They also once I was finished let me watch the film for free- how kind considering I fell over and not because of them. Thanks!… Read Full Review
