I'm now on my second Honda NT650V Deauville and I'm a greater fan than ever. The linked brakes on the newer bike are great but the finish is definitely inferior. Mine is fitted with Honda's own taller screen which keeps the blast down but doesn't help handling in a gusty wind, not the Deauville's strong point at the best of times. I get really hacked off with morons in the bike press who slag the Deauville for being boring and dull. If you want a Hayabusa then go and buy one. I don't want to… Read Full Review

I have had the Honda Deauville bike for 4 years & has been used for commuting, IAM ride outs, continental touring, riding out with sports bikes and used as an instructors bike. Its performance is satisfactory for UK roads but does struggle when ridden on the continent but still copes two up, It is as solid as a rock coping with all weather conditions admirably although the exhaust & fork stanchions are pitted and suffering somewhat, not what I expected of Honda quality. Overall the bike is… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/06/2005 by s baker (1 review written)

This Honda Deauville Tourer is functional with low running costs. Shaft drive, no fuel gauge, manual choke so less to go wrong. Cheap to insure. My bike spent 3 months unused outside in the UK winter and started first time. This riding position is comfortable around town and at distance. The panniers are watertight, but are small. The bike was OK with two up touring but had nothing in reserve. This bike gets a bad press for lack of performance, but it does exactly what it was designed to do. In… Read Full Review

In general the Honda Deauville is an all round great medium range tourer which is very forgiving and a pleasure to ride. Anyone starting to ride again or who wants a good all round bike for comuting and touring will not go far wrong with one of these. Cheap to run and it is a shaft drive as well… Read Full Review

Written on: 14/05/2005 by iangrubb (1 review written)

The Honda Deauville Tourer is a very good motorcycle spoilt by the fact that some points should be fitted as standard like the fairing lowers, knuckle guards and tall screen. It would also be good to have a full fairing. Skidmarx do a good after fit enclosing the lower part of the engine forming a full fairing. Very impressive. It would be nice if honda would address the bad points I listed above to make this a bike that would be hard to beet in it's class… Read Full Review

This Honda Deauville bike took a while to relax in the suspension after riding my XJ900 which I still own. The Deauville is sure footed on the road and feels very safe in wet weather with exellent brakes. No vibrations to speak of. I am dissapointed that Honda would charge so much for a bike of this size and not provide temp and fuel gauges that my 22 year old bike has. I own a Kawasaki KLR250 (89) and that thing has a temp guage. The XJ900 (83 Model) has fuel guage and clock. That aside the… Read Full Review

Written on: 12/03/2005 by Neal Warren (1 review written)

I got the Honda Deauville Tourer to replace my Suzuki 750. The riding position is much more comfortable than a sports tourer, but the engine is a bit noisier. It seems silly to me that it has no fuel gauage after all it is a tourer. I have fitted a top box so the storage is fine. Brakes are also fine - it is not a racer but it does have plenty of power. Gear box is quiet and easy and the shaft drive means no chain to lube!… Read Full Review

Written on: 22/12/2004 by magician (1 review written)

Honda Deauville: An excellent bike all round, V twin reliability & simply great on the fuel. Not a rocket - if you want speed, you're looking in the wrong place - but perfectly adequate up to, & well above the legal limit. It does what it says on the tin, does it well, and does it without pretence. M/C journalists should compare like with like sometime - they might get things right instead of slagging a perfectly good machine!… Read Full Review

Written on: 10/12/2004 by Bill Radcliffe (2 reviews written)

This Honda NT650V Deauville Motorcycle is an unusually good compromise for city and country running with very good comfort, secure handling and good brakes. I fitted 50mm bar risers for a more upright seating position, a large flip screen (mandatory I would say for cruising) and a brighter Xeon headlight bulb. Also dropped forks 25 mm for even sharper handling and better feet on ground maneuvering. Gearbox is noisy, clunky and even drops out of second gear on accelleration (occasionally). A… Read Full Review

Written on: 10/12/2004 by Bill Radcliffe (2 reviews written)

This Honda Deauville Tourer Motorbike handles really well at all speeds and suspension is comfortable. Gearbox is clunky, noisy and even drops out of second on accelleration occasionally. I am told it will improve by 10,000 k's. There is a loud harmonic noise on accelleration at 4,000 rpm in all gears - caused by the fairing I would think. Overall a good mile muncher, but at 4.8 litres/100km how come Honda can make a car (the Jazz) just as economical? Come on guys, it's just a 650 cc… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/11/2004 by RevElation (1 review written)

M/C instructor, covering 12-15K p.a My Honda NT650V Deauville Motorcycle gets used all year, CBTs and DAS, needs more power but is a good all-round two-wheeled transit with GIVI top box. Panniers need to be detachable and bigger. Washes up nice but why no standard fender extender and full fairing. What we need is a 900 Deauville modernised with fuel injection, 250mile range and 50-60mpg. They would sell like hot cakes. Saw a 52 plate NT650V with 48K on the clock recently so they are sturdy… Read Full Review

Written on: 14/07/2004 by NiallO (1 review written)

I needed a replacement motorcycles for an aging XV535 that would reliably take me from home to work,a 26 mile round trip in comfort. In the Honda NT650V Deauville I found exactly that, it starts first time EVERY time, it is economical, the tank holds a weeks worth of fuel, the standard luggage is excellent and watertight, it holds a laptop bag in either side, the optional Givi top box is cavernous holding our two full face lids. The Screeen keeps most of the weather off, and isn't particularly… Read Full Review

“I have owned a Honda NT650V Deauville for over a year....”

Written on: 14/01/2004 by wilsonjo (5 reviews written)

I have owned a Honda NT650V Deauville for over a year. In that time, I've covered over 10,000 miles and the bike has never let me down once.
My criteria for buying a bike were (a) Cheap to insure, (b) should be able to return around 60mpg, (c) can comfortably do over 250 miles two up, (d) Low maintenance. The Deauville fulfills all my criteria and has proved to be a very reliable machine used daily for a 50 mile commute, or for 500+ miles some weekends.
The 1999 model I bought as smaller… Read Full Review
