The Hut in Ravenshead Chef & Brewer restaurant used to be such a great place for a mid-week meal. Now the food is disgusting. Last night we had a mushroom pasta dish floating in brown mushroom water with cooked rocket appearing as gunge, and a chicken dish floating in a red tasteless gravy. The spe ...

My daughter (age 5) and I popped in to the Chef & Brewer Restaurant for a quick lunch. The Service was pleasant.
I had seafood pie with mashed potato and vegetables. Freshly mashed potato it was not! It was instant mash from a packet. The pie was tasteless, and was filled with what seemed t ...

Chef & Brewer - I have frequented The Fox a great number of times over the past 2 years. Most of these occasions were to drink and enjoy the environment but other occasions - probably 10-12 times - I have taken family or friends for meals. Apart from only one occasion of eating there, our experience ...

Chef & Brewer - We have been going to The Star at Chalton for 5 years and it is a very welcoming place with excellent staff and always a good menu. In the evenings it is candle lit and is a great place for a romantic meal. There is a large garden for the children and separate smoking areas.
We ...

Having phoned ahead to make sure babies were catered for at The Woodman, was very surprised to be told on arrival that all their highchairs were broken and could not accommodate us. The Berkshire Arms, Midgham, Newbury: We have been to this pub several times. We have always been impressed by the size of the meals and the fact that they are well presented and cooked to perfection.
We also had Christmas Day lunch here and were greatly impressed! All the courses were beautifu ...

Chef & Brewer - Chef's choice, fillet stake, was tough and inedible. Vegetables bland and undercooked, no initial choice of baked potato, piled on plate with chips.
After complaint I chose lamb which was a big hunk of mutton overcooked and fatty. Baked potato this time was OK. Unappetising presen ...

My Wife and I went for Sunday lunch in the Barley Mow in Clifden Hamden, which is part of the chef and brewer chain. We had eaten there and the Fox in Boars Hill and the food in both of these Chef and Brewer was excellent. On this occasion, however the food was terrible. My shoulder of lamb was dry ...

Is a restarunt? is it a pub? no its Chef and Brewer!
There is a slight confusion to what kind of establishment this is. Now for instance there's no stools at the bar, like you would find in a pub but there is a huge menu selection also packed with daily specials like a restraunt. You order at t ...
