“ Government funded joke company that constantly never...”

 Government funded joke company that constantly never turns up! So far I've wasted 8 hours of my time waiting for buses that haven't arrived. Good job DS you should be very proud of your work! Arriva because they NEVER Arriva. How can you or the Givernment justify your contracts. You have cost me more work than an average man's week and doubled my daily travel. I'll have the pleasure of another 11pm return journey tonight. I've had to travel from Windgate to Peterlee to Durham to Bishop Auckland because twice the bus you've not sent a bus.

“go with National Express - Forget Arriva”

Bought tickets for family to Luton airport - no option to print out or send on tickets to passengers if they do not have APP. Staff are generally arrogant and very unhelpful. Had to buy new tickets despite downloading and sending an image of barcode to passengers. Scanning of a screenshot works on any airline or transport company - but not with Arriva - Arriva has good product but very unfriendly booking infrastructure bad experience that has left a bad taste - will avoid them where there is an alternative.

“Necessary.”

The bus is always overcrowded and the people always go home late. Especially afterschool, I don’t understand why double decker buses are never sent at afterschool times so that most students are able to fit into one bus without it being hard to breathe and too hot. It’s also crazy how there’s usually an early bus that happens to be a double decker but no one is out of school yet to go on it. I think that buses should take notice of this and send double deckers or double buses to that the students who don’t take a school bus may be able to go home at an appropriate time in an appropriate bus where the elderly may be able to sit.

“Ride and aggressive ”

Rude rude man! Driver one ignored me when I asked him a question as this was the first time I had been on that particular bus route. The driver then raised his voice at me after I told him he did stop when I pressed the button. Shouted at me and accused me of lying. It is disgusting the way these bus drivers treat individuals. Absolutely disgusting. Clearly no further training is given to these drivers. Arriva should be embarrassed as this is not the first time I have treated poorly.

“Un-reliable”

Overall the X4 from Whitby to Middlesbrough is improving. Today a bus was missing so I've had to cancel my plans- I'm now too late for my appointmen and because it's too cold to wait another 45 minutes or whatever for my return bus. This happens on Mondays and we see it impacting around 12 from Carlin How. I appreciate that things are getting better. I think Arriva need to change the route they cut transport from so we get a break on Mondays please. Even leaving an hour earlier doesn't guarantee that I'll be on time because of cancellations and late buses.

“Don't use their online ticketing service!”

Paid a premium online for a ticket advertised specifically for Boxing Day travel, Luton Airport to London on their website. -But Arriva staff at the airport refused to accept it. Raised a complaint with Customer services, no apology, they also refused to accept that I had purchased a valid ticket for Boxing Day travel! Just appalling!!

“Stay away from arriva direct debit tickets!”

I rated 1 star as there is no zero star option. Stay away from Arriva direct debit tickets especially Employer Travel Club scheme. Arriva have discriminatory system against such tickets. In the terms and condtions they reserve the right to refuse refund for such tickets. I've enrolled into another arriva scheme by my employer and neither them nor arriva provided any terms and conditions or informed me that direct debit payments are not required at all for a smart card tickets. I was sure that some nominal payments would be taken for the new scheme tickets as I had been told by my employer previously not to cancel because the payment would be adjusted and it did. But with the smart card scheme I've received a free bus pass and as a result of lack of information, my uncancelled direct debit went throught. They refuse any refund. I ended up paying almost £56 for a monthly saver and a free pass covering the same month and expiring in the next few months! On top of that I phoned arriva customer services and quoted the question from their website if my DD paper monthly ticket can be returned for a refund. They confirmed and said to post it to them. I did it. Then I get an email from another arriva dept asking why I posted it to them as they had refused a refund. I answered that CS advised me to do so. They said they would post it in that night's post back to me. It has taken them 5 working day with 1st class royal mail! But actually they never did until I complained that I didnt receive my ticket and three days after I got it. The thing is it expires in 5 days from the date I got it. They have wasted two weekends of my ticket validity due to their incompetency and misinformation and I couldn't even take my kids free of charge on bus over the two weekends as the ticket enables me to. Only one weekend left. They are pathetic and inconsiderate. No timely replies either as they ignored my emails for several days from the begining of the matter. Better to use different bus operators and DO NOT GET INVOLVED IN ARRIVA DIRECT DEBIT TICKETS!!!!

“Never shows”

I gave one star because there's no option for Zero. Totally useless app. Bus doesn't show up in time. Testing patience since almost 4 months. At times it magically disappears on half way leaving us at the bus stop for next 45 minutes. And twice I activated my ticket 5 mins before the bus arrived but waste of money. They never refund nor improve the service. Zero trust left for this service. Can't complain enough as it is a daily routine now and never gets in time to work/home. If a bus is not available atleast please update on the app. We can arrange our own transportation ways without wasting time at bus stop.

“No show”

Yet again bus never turns up. What's the point in having a live timetable at the bus stop to just strike the time off once the time runs over. At least if they put cancelled on there we wouldn't be waiting around. Very poor.

“How are they allowed to be this bad!!!”

yet again after this mornings bus never turned up, was on app then disapeared and never turned up which resulted in the voy i care for being stranded due to this shoddy excuse of a service. in the evening the bus from Newcastle city X7 due at 8.15 never turned up despite being on the electronic sign at the stop, at 8.20 it just disapeard from the board....no one to.explain whats happening, where its gone as it must have been running or they would of removed it from their useless app and the board long before it arrived. let hope the next bus actually tuns up an hour later. The only thing this badly run bus service is consistant in is how bad they run this excuse of a service....if Arriva need some suggestions in courses to train staff to be able to communicate and use their own app let me know and ill forwaed you some links.......useless!!!

“Don't even respond to customer complaints”

Made a complaint about bus not turning up. I got automated response then mo flow up after all. Problem is they have mo competition so fo what they want and font care about Customer experience at all

Stevenage Borough Council should be ashamed of using this bus company for the area. Its been this way for years now. Expensive, dirty, late, cancelled buses. For a 8 minute bus ride it usually takes 45 minutes and the normal now takes over an hour as buses don't turn up or are cancelled. Bus drivers are rude and look like they need a bath. Arriva complaints department take three weeks to reply to a complaint. Stevenage Borough Council should be held responsible for hiring this shamble of

“I have just waited an hour in the baking sun for a bus...”

I have just waited an hour in the baking sun for a bus that is supposed to come every 12 minutes. The 101 service is shocking! 4 buses just didn't show up. When I ring to find out some information they put me on hold for 20 minutes and hung up on me. When I ring back they told me the next bus was due to arrive soon. The next bus came but was not in service and didn't stop! Disgusting how long I had to wait! **Update** I finally got to where I needed to catch the 132 bus and that was also a 45-60 minute wait! What a joke of a service! If I could give it zero stars I would! Disgusting how unreliable this service is.

“Crappiest service ”

The Groby to Leicester no 29 hasn’t been on time for me. And todays 8.46am, the bus was late, the driver was going too fast on the a50 and didn’t stop. After that 4 buses went by the opposite side. I missed my much needed appointment. There was a lady who takes her grandson to school on Fridays and she’s waited over an hour for the bus to arrive . It’s a joke. Wishing for an alternative.

“Inefficiency ”

Once again arriva have failed. I was waiting for the 19.01 mount Vernon to Hemel Hempstead. The bus arrived at 19.20 I realise busses can run late but this bus then went out of service. The driver told me another would arrive shortly. I assumed this was the 19.35 showing on the app timetable. It was not possible to track this bus as once again the tracking app showed a blank map ( latest version) as of 20.00 there is no bus or notifications of cancellation. The app was functioning all day but yet again crashed. I am currently facing a £ 15.00 taxi fare . Well done arriva

“CANCELLED ”

I get the bus almost daily and while it is not cancelled for 75%, when it is it still comes! This may be bittersweet but it means I always have to ask my friends for lifts. It also has the tendency to just not come up on the app, then turn up! The bus seats are also uncomfortable and the customer service is unpleasant. Also make the seats bigger as I have to cram on. Despite this, when it comes it gets me from point A to Point B.

I need to start sending my son on the No.12 Maidstone Arriva bus to get to school, is it reliable? I have not heard good reviews. Does anyone use this route please?

I don't take that route but I know Arriva isn't very reliable. The bus I usually take has often taken an hour to arrive although it's supposed to be every half hour and I have a friend who lives in a different county that has also experienced this. However it is usually cheaper than other bus companies. Best bet is if you want your son to use that bus, make him catch the one before then if that bus doesn't turn up, he has a higher chance of making it to school on time. Better to be early then late

Sorry cant help specifically as I live in Surrey. My only comment is is that the services in our area are provided by Arriva and to be honest apart from a very short town service, their other routes that are near us are extremely unreliable. Sometimes it is down to traffic congestion beyond their control, sometimes staff shortages both of which plague bus services anywhere. However even taking this in to account they do seem to provide a very unreliable service - and we get the impression that in general staff are not motivated to provide a good service so don't go out of their way to attempt to improve things. If the bus service is Arriva you can be pretty sure it will be unreliable. They sometimes surprise you and come on time and have a helpful, cheerful driver but sadly in our experience this is usually the exception. I think best thing is give it a try - you could be surpised

I have been on this route about 20 times at various times of the day... Twice the scheduled bus didn't turn up (the following bus on the timetable on one of these occasions was 20 mins late... With a very rude driver!). On a separate occasion, on a dark & cold winter's night the driver completely ignored my plainly visible outstretched arm & sailed straight past. Otherwise, mostly on time. School time buses fairly reliable though very full.
