It seems that much of the plastic has small cracks and is beginning to loose little chips each time I use it. We bought the animal machine 4 years ago and I have truly loved it with the exception of the plastic fatigue. We were told that the plastic is not covered by the warnity.

Once again I think Dyson should not take this style off the market or at least remodel it with side brushes for edge cleaning.

Very unreliable and poor build quality
(i) The suction went on it through the hose, cost £50 to repair
(ii) Now the handle has broken near the top - new wand £25.
Old vacuums used to go on for years with no problems

I have been the owner of this Dyson, from new for about 4 years and have hated it since day 1! I found the Dyson DC03's performance lacking compared to almost every single other vacuum I've used before and after whether bagged or bagless. The attachments that have movable joints have all broken now, ...

The cleaner does what it says on the box - BUT - in my opinion it has been designed to disintegrate over time. The cable has broken internally (twice); The carrying handle has broken; The extending hose has been replaced twice and bits of plastic have fallen off at regular intervals. The plastic ...

I bought my Dyson DC03 secondhand from an auction for £12 in Salisbury (Netherhampton Salerooms). Yes, that's £12 folks.
The replacement clutch and service cost me a further £38. End result? You could call me a satisfied Dyson customer.
The wand seems very fiddly to use, an ...

Overall the Dyson DC03 is the best cleaner we have used in nearly thirty years and suits a house with carpets. Lighter weight will need a little more care for the heavy handed. Technically no good for curtains, see other models with airflow tools.

Clutches on the Dyson DC03 are reliable, they have a metal pulley rather than a DC04 plastic pulley. The problem is the case of the thinnest belt snapping, its an easy DIY job if you know what to do, the main cause of belts snapping or coming off the pulley is broken plastic cleaner head (brush roll ...

I purchased my DC03 Vacuum Cleaner in Dec 2000 and have just committed it to the local tip due to the fact the armature on the motor has disintegrated. Dyson stated that the motor should last far longer than 3.5 yrs but wanted £80 for a replacement. I have previously had to replace the main sw ...

When I bought my Dyson DC03 I had tried 4 Hoovers in a year but none cleaned my dog's hair up. 5 years later it's still cleaning brilliantly and I know now that I will never buy another make than Dyson. It's worth every penny.
