Our 3 year old daughter knocked our 42" PLASMA TV and it wouldnt work again. Tesco insurance were so VERY UNHELPFUL, RUDE AND DIDNT BELIEVE US. They tried getting out of paying us by sayin it was 'wear and tear'. Eventually gave us half of what the TV cost in so called vouchers!! So we could only use in a certain shop. They wouldnt even pay us the engineer call out fee! Which was promised. NEVER USE TESCO THEY ARE NUFIN BUT MONEY GRABBERS! Also took over two months!!… Read Full Review

Tesco Finest the worst company to deal with
We brought Tesco finest Building and contents which included boiler and central heating emergency cover.
I called them on a Friday night 7.45 pm as we had a banging boiler, they gave us the worst service they lied on the phone they said they would have an engineer out the next day, they never called us back they even said that the van had broken down and the AA would not be able to mend the van for 24 hours, when the engineer came he laughed and said… Read Full Review

Had damage from a blocked drain which overflowed in the kitchen, damaging floorboards and laminate flooring. It took almost 3 weeks to get an assessor out to come and estimate damage and put together a proposal because Crawfords subcontractors didn't have sufficient staff to get out to us sooner. To be fair, once the repair proposal had gone in, it was approved fairly quickly, and Redrose were appointed to come and do the strip-out. I have just spent 2 days trying to get through to Tescos claim line (40 minutes just now was my last attempt) hanging on to a phone waiting for someone to actually answer the phone! They are quick enough to answer the phone when you want to join them (and quick enough to take your money!) but dont answer the claim lines! Awful, awful service. If you want sleepless nights ,endless, meaningless phone calls giving differing information, all wrong ,buy your cover from Tesco.They have driven me to distraction and in the end cost me money.I was given a Mandate that I wasn't able to use,and when we paid cash for our flooring we were given their discounted price that Topps allowed them (kickback at our expense).We also understood that the tracing of the leak would be repayable but oh no!! Had a policy with them for 1 year. One month before the expiration date received a renewal proposal with the quote being £100+ higher than in the previous year. The letter stated that the policy would be renewed automatically and my credit card would be charged (i.e. you don't have to lift a finger, we will gladly charge you a hundred quids more).
Checked against their web site and received the same figure as one year ago. Sent a letter asking not to renew the policy and requesting confirmation… Read Full Review

I think an insurance company should be judged by how they deal with claims. Its all very well shopping around for the cheapest quote, but remember why you are buying the insurancce.
In April we had a major water leak at our home, the damage affected the entire ground floor, and the total claim was in excess of £11k. Buildings and Contents Insurance - do not insure with Tesco unless you have a lot of patience and free time to do all the chasing/work yourself. After a house fire they initially "misfiled" us under the under £1000 damage dept; when a loss adjuster finally came out to look at damage it took 2wk to send in cleaners (we couldn't live in house so moved in with family); 4wk later still waiting for them to sign off for building work to start and reimburse out of pocket expenses. Tesco Home and Legal Insurance is paying for hassle and stress!. We had a leak and it took 6 months to be agreed. We were not allowed to have it fixed until they gave the OK1. Numerous phone calls to them proved frustrating as you never could guarantee being put thru to the right person/branch and when you did they never wrote up the conversation. We have Tesco's "Finest" cover - what a joke. We had a flood on the ground floor due to burst water main in January. In the contents part of the claim (for carpets) their "offer" was short by about £400; the buildings claim (for replastering) even worse; despite submitting many photos and all the info they wanted, our claim still has to be "authorised", yet we are 10 weeks down the line. TESCO "VERY LITTLE HELP"
Snowstorms in Dec09 caused damage on my roof which leaked through to my child's bedroom which has not been used since, tesco confirmed was covered due to severe weather. After refusing to call people out independently, was sent a loss adjuster from GAB Robbins to assess the damage. In the past five years I have made two small claims - one on buildings and one on contents - both accidental damage (double glazing pane cracked due to weather temp Jan 2010). Although the claims were settled quickly they both had "small print" excess added plus they whopped up my insurance as I lost "my no clamis" discount. Customer services were efficient but the ridiculous small print makes it not worth claiming for anything under £500. Would not recommend if you acutally want insurance… Read Full Review

After being broken into it took it took Tesco 11 months to settle the claim after having to go through loss adjusters etc it was only when I threatened them with the insurance ombudsman they finally got their act together.
Now my neighbour upstairs has flooded my bathroom after her bath leaked all it's water, Tesco are stating she wasn't negligence as she had the repair fixed within a reasonable timescale, so they (Tesco) have abbandoned the recovery! Not heard anything like it in my life.
