MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH THIS COMPANY WAS THE FACT THAT THEY EMAILED THE INSURANCE DOCUMENTS WHICH COULD THEN NOT BE OPENED OR PRINTED. THEY ASKED FOR COPIES OF MY PREVIOUS NO CLAMINS DOCUMENTS WHICH WE SCANNED AND SENT. THEY THEN WROTE TO US TO SAY THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THEM. WE THEN FAXED THESE DOCUMENTS BUT AGAIN WE RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER STATING THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THEM. WE CALLED THEM AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED RECEIPT OF THIS DOCUMENTS. “Catch 22!! ”

A deer ran out of the undergrowth and collided with my car last weekend and thought I would check with my insurer if there was clause under which I was covered despite having 3rd Party Fire and Theft. I wasn't - which was fine as I kind of knew I wouldn't be. It is a shame that you fell into this hole but I have to ask the question [so please don't take offence] of, gap insurance is used to cover the 'hole' or gap left between the insurance payout (the trade value - which is the minimum value of the same vehicle (mileage, wear, condition etc)) and that which you paid so to bring you back more or less to the same place you would have been had you merely sold on the vehicle with the majority of your investment intact.

So, I wonder why if you felt that you needed gap insurance (often usually taken when a substantial investment is made and in most circumstances when the car is less than 3 years old) why you chose to insure as TPFT rather than comprehensive? And, having never claimed (so you will have earned the max 6 years NCB - you will no doubt have earned much more but anything more than 6 is usually ineffective), you also waived the chance of protected NCB by choosing to insure as TPFT?

i insured one car with buget last dec 2010 sold the car asked to swap car to new on witch is worth less than what i had got quoted 3 times more than any one else so told them to cancel the policy did thay no that was march 2011 then april may june july and so on so police y finished in dec 2011 and now im having the same problem for 2012 iv talked to them and thought i was getting some were but no ?? what sort of company is this thay will rob you blind and thay dont care who you are… Read Full Review

“Unreasonable”

Charged me extra for not letting them know about an accident for a different vehicle insured with another insurance company under claims protected, which was not my fault and still being fought. Charged me for not being able to prove I have returned the credit agreement, which had been returned to make sure they didn't charge me. “Sh*tgibbons of the very highest order.”

This was the first policy (and last) with this bunch of sheisters. Should have seen the warning signs a month in when they claimed not to have received my credit agreement and charged me a penalty. Fortunately I sent it recorded, but I still had to phone the call centre in India and explain this to them. Then had to explain what recorded delivery was in this country, before the person went away to check. Anyway, it was refunded eventually. got even worse with regard to the above comments. i phoned budget insurance upon the 18th of vovember and gave them my friends debit card details to pay of the remaining bal;ance of £207.91p, i was told this had gone through, i was also told i was behind with my payments and i could become uninsured if i didnt pay.. i asked how could i be in arreas when my payment wasnt due until some 6 days later. (24th nov)
the chap i spoke to admitted something was wrong and corrected it or at least i hoped so.. i get a letter from them on the 25th saying that my diredt debit had been rejected by the bank, i explained that i had paid it in full on a debit card but was told they had tried to take it drom a "dormant" bank acccount.. this has now happened 3 times costing me £36.00 in charges, a totaly useless company who will not be getting any more of my buisiness after this year--appalling servic.

“Budget Insurance Refund Rip Off”

After using Budget for 3 years we asked to add a young driver to the policy, expecting a large increase in price. Budget flatly refused to consider any type of cover on any vehicle so we had no choice but to cancel.The policy was pre paid in full and had more than 6 months to run. Amazingly there is no refund due, it seems that the early repayment charges coincides exactly with the amount of our money held by Budget. We have had a problem with Budget. They cancelled our insurance without any notice( because we didnt send NCD proof in time!) therefore we drove for a full day without being insured! They were going to charge us cancellation fee £75 and and premium fine of £252 for 4 weeks cover! The fees were going to be cancelled if we started a new policy with a £250 increase compared to our original policy! We argued that we wanted the original quote or even the quotes currently on the internet( not the old quote with the cancellation fee/ fine hidden) Anyway after 45 mins and demanding to speak to the team leader they honored the original quote because the numerous letters they sent us did not say they were actually going to cancel on a particular date thus giving us no notice! We will see if they honour this agreement when they take the first months premium on the 26th!!

I've had the same problem as the comment before me. I delayed submitted proof of NCD and they cancelled my insurance. They are have now taken more than £325 from my account and when I try to speak to them their customer service is worse than 3rd world.
Never use these people.

“Budget are Dishonest Weasels. Avoid!”

I'd used Budget a few times before they sneakily introduced the auto-renewal, [i.e. they just help themselves to more money from my credit card after 12 months] without warning and certainly without my agreement. This is against government guidelines. When I took the policy out, they assured me that they wouldn't do this. “We feel like we are being stolen from”

We have third party insurance on our vw polo with budget. My wife made an error with the date that the car was registered in her name (it had formally been registered to my daughter) . Budget pointed out this error and my wife sent them a copy of the new registration document. We then received an invoice from budget for changing the date that my wife became the registered keeper, from sep 2007 (the Date that my daughter bought the car) to sep 2010 when ownership was transfered to my wife… Read Full Review

“Please avoid this company, they will give you more...”

I have had to cancel my insurance with this company because the price for my son to learn with me in the car was more than £3000. I had therefore found a much cheaper quote which covers me and my son on a provisional and full insurance for half the price at £1600. However I was very dissapointed with the company when I discovered that they were to charge me £76 to cancel my insurance policy. It may be our choice but if you read most reviews this company are consistently telling people documents have not been received and charging them for the privilege! Even tried it with me, fortunately I sent mine recorder and had a receipt, remarkably they suddenly turned up...Not life threatening, I agree, but very expensive and unnecessary hassle!

“Budget is not the 'Smart' choice.”

They may be cheap but you'll feel the sting when you want to change the details on your existing policy. They wouldn't re quote me after wanting to upgrade my car unless I took out a new policy. The big problem with this, I will obviously lose the budding no claims discount and they said if I cancelled the existing policy to gain a refund I quote, 'You won't owe us anything and we won't owe you anything.' They change the terms and conditions after the event and then take money without authorisation. Had to close my account and reopen a fresh account to try and stop these people taking money.

Was told on booking £25 cancellation fee but when I cancelled they wanted £75 plus 40% of the total cover none of which I was informed of when taking out the contract. You are right mate, Its same problem happened to me when I asked them to change my car, since I got to scrap my old car. She said that company doesn't make any changes, Either I cancel it with paying rest of 6 months premium which is £ 200 or get new policy with triple amount I am paying for my existing car. Company has clearly mentioned these in policy documents that customer can make any changes and inform company in case of any details get changed. I asked her to have a look on it. She refused and said it is only possible if Underwriter agrees on it. I told to her its not my problem if underwriter agrees it or not. I just want to change details and if you don't then you are cancelling it and I am not liable to pay any cancellation charges. She kept on refusing it and when I asked her to put me complaint department, She said there is no complaint department, I have to write them and will get reply in 72 hours. Now its been 7 days but no reply yet. They keep on saying this is our policy now its up to me cancel it or go for other one. Its irony that no body in company is serious to sort this issue out...
