“Price increasing without warning from £20 to £200 ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hawkinsth459 on 30/01/2015

Really bad service. Been using them for a time until I received an invoice for £200 for hosting a website (cost roughy £40 a year anywhere else). Asked them to stop the service but I end up having to pay their fees even if my website where not hosted anymore with them. They are a complete rip off, stay away from them, there is million others much better and much cheaper. After going down the line with them with debt recovery for a service I never used I have been reading a lot on Google and I found that is one of their common practice and they just take money from people that way. Don't bother with them seriously.

“Run away!”

written by pappus on 26/01/2015

I took over the administration of a website that was hosted on streamline six months ago. I asked them to move servers to have a more up-to-date PHP environment, but only half of the files were migrated and then they switched over to the new server without me confirming that everything was working - resulting in a website down. I was lucky that I could complete the transfer from an offline backup. Not impressed. The admin panel is as well a hotchpotch of different URLs, logins for general admin, FTP, database, e-mail admin. Other webhosters have a nice panel that allows you to centrally admin all your settings, but not streamline.net. A few months later I ran into issues with a wordpress install. Only then I figured out that they only provide support from 8-6 Mon-Fri. High-critical server down issues that were logged online took over a day to even get answered (without being solved). So I decided to vote with my feet and walk away.

“STAY AWAY!!!”

written by Warnerng97 on 05/11/2014

Appalling service. I was sent final notice to pay biannual fees. Forgot to change my new email over and no one contacted me by letter until the final demand. I had to pay before I could update details and then pay another 2 yr even though I wanted to cancel. They said I was four days into new contract. I have just called because I could not access my account and found they had not put new email address on to their system. My payment date had expired on my card and again no message from them. I know it was my responsibility. I now discover they cancelled my domain name 2 yrs ago when they had sent final notice letter but I was still charged for 2 yrs contract. I have cancelled account now on their tickets system. I wonder if I will get confirmation. Would not recommend .

“Streamline.net stole my 10 year old domain”

★☆☆☆☆

written by streamlined on 21/10/2014

The countless negative reviews on the Internet alone should deter any potential new customers from contemplating this company. The company is in debt and resorts to legal questionable means in which to intimidate their customers into covering their losses. I had been a customer for over 10 years, from the days of CEO, to current company director Frank Einhellinger. My domain had been paid for until October 2015 (one year from now), and one day, without warning, the domain disappeared online and my email no longer functioned. Assuming it was a glitch, I contacted Streamline.net who told me I was being pursued by the debt agency (they even tried to force me only to deal with this agency - CCI Legal). I refused to do so on the basis that I have no legal contract with CCI Legal, only with streamline.net. I had taken a second domain with hosting just over a year ago. After nearly a fortnight I wasn't able to do anything with it, and realised streamline.net hadn't even registered it on my behalf dispite taking payment. I contacted them, and they apologised and registered it with Tucows. I couldn't take a personal email address with the package and an upgrade was too expense, so I contacted the company by their ticket system and by phone, and told them I did not want the domain beyond the year because of this limitation. I transferred the domain before the year was up, and my credit card had expired, which I thought was convenient just in case they didn't keep a record of my request to cancel. Streamline.net claim they can ONLY take cancellations up to 7 days before a domain is due to expire, and they can only do this through their online ticket system. I strongly contend the legality of this. This unrelated domain/hosting is their reason for removing my second account and domain. In effect streamline.net have stolen my 10 year old domain from me, and are holding it to ransom unless I pay an arbitary fine. Nominet are unable to help (without expensive fees) because streamline.net registers domains in their own company name and not the customers. I advise anybody contemplating the use of this company to be aware. Rather than placate old customers and keep them onboard, they would sooner make idle threats with debt collectors. I would relish the prospect of putting forward my story in court, and now have to contemplate legal action. In the mean time I will put my story out there anywhere I can to warn others against the unscrupulous actions of streamline.net

Streamlined's Response to streamlined's Review

I would like to add that I was finally able to get things resolved, but it was only by going through the company's CEO. Without their assistance I would still be banging my head against a brick wall.

“Poor, poor, poor”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MartinfromAshby on 22/09/2014

I've had personal and business domain names and hosting packages with Streamline. At first they were brilliant and good value. After they were sold, their service went downhill rapidly. Their own website is slow and customer services from the 19th century, only available 9-6 Mon - Fri. Call centres are outside of the UK making conversation difficult and closing a hosting account takes so much effort it is unreal. Support tickets go unanswered and there is no direct line to cancellations because - get this - their department is swamped with requests to cancel!!! Sorry Streamline but you've gone from "brilliant" to "avoid" in less than ten years.

“Conmen- out for your money- and threaten you as well!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Andreasg66 on 10/09/2014

These guys may as well be from the Mafia. It's not too far off extortion. If you forget to pay, they send red letters, promising you they will sell your debt to a collection agency and damnage your credit rating. These guys should not be allowed to trade... When the site went down, their support was abysmal. You have no way of cancelling or preventing auto renewal of a hosting package.

“Don't use Streamline”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 03/08/2014

I used Streamline for 2 sites, one personal and later one for a club. For the first couple of renewals they sent an invoice before the due date. OK. Then they omitted to do so and I forgot the date (didn't need to remember, did I, since they sent invoice reminders?) for the club site they eventually sent one imposing a fine for late payment. Before realising it was an extra payment, I paid it. Then they failed to tell me before the event that the domain name needed renewal until too late and the site went down. I set up another with a different host (Falcoda, who I DO recommend). This was last year. This year I moved my personal site and perhaps foolishly assumed that since my credit card detail held by Streamline was becoming invalid at the same date, I need bother with them no longer. Now they tell me that my account remains open until I pay up for another year, plus a late payment fine because I did not arrange with them to close my account before the payment date. They will 'refer to a third party' if I do not pay up. They do not accept direct emails. I will not phone because I do not see why I should pay for a phone call when email costs me nothing. Contact with them has always been near impossible

“What ever you do, dont you dare sign up to Streamline,...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 224Porter on 19/06/2014

Please, Listen to everyone who has reviewed this company before me. I originally looked at the reviews and thought maybe that is just a few of the million customers they have. But when I became a customer I felt it hard in my pocket. The salesman will tell you magical things just to get you to sign. He will promise you things, just to get you to sign. He will claim that he will waiver charges just to get you to sign. He will sell his mum to you to get you to sign. I was told that I would not pay a penny for my merchant services until my website goes live. He told me it was the companies policy to wait until the month after we go live before they charge. Since I signed up I have paid £230 in charges and I have not gone live. I feel stupid because they asked me for proof of a contract that says they wont charge me and I couldn't supply that because I believed the salesman. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Stay away, go find a different company.

“AVOID!!!! Avoid !!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Iwonarafal on 22/05/2014

One of the worse experience in my life! Twice took a payment over the phone using card machine for amount of £3000, week later received a bill to pay £60 to pay for fees as apparently customer used business debit card .... Ok that's fine. But two months later they have sent me 2 CHARGEBACK LETTERS, meaning that card was stollen and i need to pay back 3k to the card owner, when i already dispatched my stock! Didn't wanted to pay, I was a victim and they treated me very badly, they terminated contract with me and passed a message to other merchant services that my business is dodgy and and they have experienced a fraud with us. No compassion at all!!! Lady over the phone was very rude. She said we have to pay, went to the bank said not willing to pay, my account manager rang to streamline and they said they cant talk to him even in my behalf..... I said wt???? So i end up loosing 3k.,. It was a massive kick for my small business, they r happy to give u low rates at the beginning to bit the competitor but service is terrible. AVOID AVOID, currently opened a case against them, wish my good luck!

“ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL - Stay well clear of!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by gio91 on 10/03/2014

Where do I even start with Streamline.net? They are by far - without question or doubt - the single worst company I have EVER dealt with in a professional or personal capacity. Their hosting is appalling. We've got an independent site monitoring the uptime of our site(s) with them and the best of the bunch is running at 58%. We have a MINIMUM of 12 minutes downtime every day, the support staff are useless, the control panel is the opposite - restrictive and offers no control, the price is bad, the features are poor, the service doesn't work, support tickets take 24 hours plus for a stock 'template' reply to come back (which doesn't address any issues) and their shared servers and MySQL databases just don't work. To give you an idea, we have some sites running Wordpress and we had a point where we had 50/50 downtime - we're not talking slow - we're talking actually offline with a 500 error. They then moved us to a new and 'empty' MySQL Database - and even now we're still waiting 10+ seconds for simply page loads. We wanted to use an SSL certificate for our site (which we already have) and they want to charge us £25 per year not to offer an actual certificate, but instead to allow us to use a SHARED 'secure' folder - which means you can't host your site with an SSL certificate, but instead can add one or two files to a 'secure' (but yet shared, which defeats the point) folder. Absolutely useless. They are the worst company we've ever had the mis-fortune to go near. What's worse is there terrible little small print and contracts makes it almost impossible to get away from. We will need to part with £300+ to get away from them now, but it's worth every last penny - infact, it's worth 1000 times that much. Look at the other reviews here and elsewhere on the site. They are AWFUL. Regardless of whether or not you think you'll escape their poor service, don't do it - you won't, and you'll be left disappointed, annoyed, frustrated and completely unable to move elsewhere. It's worse than a deadend for hosting companies. I resent even having to hand out 1 star - minus stars if anything is more fitting.

* Worth pointing out that when I said 'they then moved us' they actually said " here's another mysql database you should use' and we ourselves, as the customer, because of their poor infrastructure, had to move our ENTIRE site and all associated mysql databases manually.

“DO NOT USE THESE RIP OF MERCHANTS”

written by on 11/02/2014

Wish I had seen these reviews sooner, I didn`t renew my website as my business collapsed a couple of years ago. A letter turned up at my former home telling me I owed them £90 !!!!! Is it me but when not renewing something that tells me that I no longer need to use the service of the provider. I didn`t renew my RAC last year, did I get a letter this year telling me I owed them money as they thought I really wanted to stay with them......NO DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I really can`t stress this enough Ps I had to give them 1 star as there isn`t an option for zero

“Scammers”

written by on 15/11/2013

No stars. Zero. Anti-stars, even. To give you one example of how bad these sharks are is difficult. I mean, how do I choose? I could give you 20 though... no problem. They have no manners, service and no morality. Their only function is to take money from you and they don't really care how they do it. In order to do this they sweet talk you into joining and then raise fees without telling you, auto-renew without warning, don't allow you to leave, threaten you with legal action, etc. I signed up for 2 years at 88 GBP, they wanted to 'renew' at 179.00! Did they tell me? Did they fcku. They don't even pretend to be good once you've joined. Here's an example of what absolute gobshites they are: It costs a small amount of time and money, virtually nothing, to configure their pop servers to talk to Hotmail email addresses. They haven't bothered to fix that problem in over 2 years. They simply don't care about providing even the most basic of services. Their only function is to rip you off. The only reason why I don't go to their headquarters armed with a giant electro-magnet is because it would harm poor innocent people's website files. If you're with them, leave now. For your own sanity's sake if not your wallet: here's my 9-step checklist for you: 1) Change your payment details from bank account to debit card. 2) Change your bank account number. Remember to change all your other arrangements with other third parties. It's a pain but it's worth it. 3) Change your debit card to one with a new number. 4) Register your domain elsewhere (if they have it). 5) save all your site files. 6) Get a reputable hosting elsewhere and upload the site. 7) Get the DNS pointers changed. 8) Delete your entire site files on Streamline. 9) tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine. Good luck.

“charging me more for an inferior product.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/11/2013

I have been stuck in this auto-renewal loop for two long now. previously they didn't even send emails. I wrote to them on the day they tried to take a credit card payment to say I want a different package as I now need more than one website. it turns out they have put my prices up on a website which is inferior to a cheaper one advertised. They are completely inflexible and do not want to help me find a better suited product. so I am basically thinking of signing up with the new provider paying streamline for a year and then cancelling the account pretty much immediately. If I do pay I will do it by cheque, (if I can) as I have heard so many horror stories of them taking payments years after cancelling. They punish loyalty at streamline, and cripple you with their terms and conditions, throwing away £35 will be worth it to never have another phone call with them. On my last call I repeated asked, why do you punish your existing customers with higher priices and poorer products, for which she replied that's the t&C and that's what their customers are slaves to small print.

“Useless, absolutely useless”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/09/2013

Why is it that EVERY time I request something, I have to re-request it two or three times afterwards as they don't do it properly first time. For example, COMPLETELY removing hosting from an account so I can organise hosting from another supplier. Shoddy service. They simply don't know what they are doing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS particularly since they are far more expensive than comparative hosts.

“The WORST hosting company in the WORLD”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dmedia123 on 23/08/2013

DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT use streamline.net. They are dishonest - lying - money grabbing useless web hosts. I stupidly been with them 3 years, today they renewed my hosting package for £287 - more than any package on their site and refuse to change it. Their support can hardly speak english, their email smtp server is always breaking, their servers are slow and they are the most unhelpful bunch of misinformed idiots you will ever deal with. Do yourself a favour and stear well clear. I have over 90 domains with them and will be transferring every single one to a helpful webhost.

“Horrible experience”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/06/2013

I host a website for a charity and they would not refund my hosting fee when my account lapsed. Despite not receiving any emails from the company warning me that the account was due to expire they proceeded to take my money. When I appealed to their goodwill I was met with a total lack of empathy. They would not refund my money even though I don't use their services and received no notification from them. The streamline control panel does not allow you to cancel services online nor does it allow you to control your credit card information on the system. The cynical person in my thinks the system has been designed specifically to make it difficult to cancel services in an attempt to coin as much as possible from their customers. Avoid

“Criminals”

written by on 29/05/2013

I've been a customer with Streamline.net for about 7years. Customer loyalty means nothing to them and once you've payed they want nothing more to do with you. Their website and ticket system is very frustrating and unhelpful if you have a problem, but I've always managed to sort things out without needing to contact them. I frequently found that website and email account passwords suddenly stop working and I had to contact support to reset them, a very slow process. I moved recently and forgot to update my billing address so my site was removed and I was sent threatening emails saying they would give my details to a debt agency and my credit rating would be ruined. I amended my billing details and was charged for the time that my website was off-line (about 2 months), I challenged this but got nowhere. I tried to close my account but they have ignored several requests. In the same way that people stay with rubbish banks and phone service providers through apathy, I stayed with Streamline.net for years. Every year the bill goes up for my very modest website and every year the customer service gets worse. This year I didn't update my card details and i'm getting the usual emails this time threatening a £20 fine will be added to my costs unless I pay within 7 days. Do yourself a favor and use a different web host.

Streamline make it virtually impossible to cancel a hosting service. We followed their instructions to raise a support ticket on their web site clearly stating that we wished to cancel all domains except one giving them plenty of notice. They responded after a week to state that they can only do this if we give them EXACTLY 7 days notice before the expiry date. We didn't see this support ticket because it only appears on their web site (i.e. they don't communicate by email). When we noticed they had billed for the domain renewal they refused to issue a refund. There is no way of removing debit card details from their web site.
