“Domain Registration”

One of the worst registration companies, with this company you literally get what you pay for which is not much. DNS management is terrible, the control panel is right out of a kids HTML lesson and it takes a age to change nameservers compared with the big boys (Heart Internet, Fasthosts, 1and1 and 123-reg) If you are serious about domain management do not go with names.co.uk… Read Full Review

I am very sorry that you feel that way as the majority of our customers do like our Online Control Panel, and the DNS management page.

Changing nameservers on a domain does rely on DNS propagation, regardless of who you change them with, so I can only think that the change you made through us took more time to propagate. Propagation is something we advise about when customers make a DNS change.

“Poor phone support”

Last week need to speak with Tech Support Automated message says " we are experiencing a higher than expected volume of calls" this message has been on their systems for years now. I suspect lack of staff ( cost cutting ) but its their customers who suffer . I was on hold for 30 minutes but had to hang up as i had to get on with my work.. “Our server will develop a fault and reject email every...”

The server at Names.co.uk had a problem and was rejection all Hotmail and associated emails through them. When I was sending emails to a customer on @mail.com (Hotmail) they didn't get it and I lost £450 worth of business. When I phoned technical help today I was told that they have a problem like this every 3/6 months and it lasts 48/72h!!!!!! I have already upgraded from SSL to STMP and now say for reliability I need to spend £50 and get a dedicated server which the business can't… Read Full Review

“Rip Off Domain Renewal Prices”

This company charges £19.99 + vat to renew a .co.uk domain for 2 years, the initial price when you register the domain is £9.99 for 2 years . I have now moved my domain to fasthosts who only charge £7.98 for two years. names.co.uk also charge £10.00 + vat to transfer / change isptag when there is no need to as nominet do not charge ISP's for this. I changed ISPTAG direct with nominet who still charged me £10.00 + vat but I would rather pay nominet than pay names.co.uk They even charge… Read Full Review

I have been with this ISP since 1998 and I have always rated their helpdesk. This holiday season they excelled themselves. 9am the day after Boxing Day I phone up because some thoughtful friend dumped 22MB of holiday pics in my webmail inbox and I couldn't delete them. YES ... its been an ongoing feature with my Support enquires ... They are always dealt with quickly and resolved straight away ... So needles to say it has had a significant knock on effect for me as my Clients get to see these issues fixed quickly ... and this reflects well on ME !
