Poor customer service, tried to cancel my ad within 24hrs of placing it as car sold via gumtree but would not refund. As result still had to pay £40...it hadnt event went to press but they were kind enough to offer to omit my ad to avoid hassle of callers seeing the vehicle was now sold...money for nothing or what?!… Read Full Review

Auto trader should have a mechanism in place for so called traders who offer cars , but when arranging to meet them 170 miles up north they mess you about and are very very rude!!!
PLEASE PETITION FOR AUTOTRADER TO HAVE A 'RATE THEM' BUTTON FOR TRADERS SO THE REAL TRADERS ARE LEFT TO SELL NOT COWBOYS , LIKE THE ONE WE ENCOUNTERED IN BRADFORD 'ADAM'!… Read Full Review

I AM ABSOLUTELY HACKED OFF WITH SCAM EMAILS GENERATED FROM MY AD ON AUTOTRADER.CO.UK!!
I have had 35 now, and still counting. I have had to ask Autotrader to remove my ad because it really is unacceptable.
IF I GET ONE MORE SCAM EMAIL FROM AN IDIOT IN HOLLAND WITH A FRIEND IN DUBLIN THAT HAS A CONTACT IN MY AREA OFFERING ME 86BILLION UGANDAN DOLLARS FOR MY KNACKERED PEUGEOT, I WILL SCREAM!!!… Read Full Review

Thumbs down from me i'm afraid. Been a fan of autotrader for a long time to reserach car prices and spec, and used their service twice to try and sell cars. I found it good usability wise, but very expensive and no feedback apart from scammers.
Both times i used it the cars were under the average selling price and well documented and photographed. Waste of £45 in my opinion, better off using ebay… Read Full Review

Auto Trader just seems to be a middleman for scammers and timewasters. In two weeks all I've had are scammers via email (a dozen of them) all wanting me to refund their shipping, one person who called to arrange to see the car and never showed up (complete timewaster) and one person who turned up and offered a ridiculously low amount of money (£600 below asking price when it was only on for just under £1.5k). I checked carefully and did my research before putting the car up for sale and believe… Read Full Review

THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE NEW AUTOTRADER SITE. HAVING ENTERED ALL THE SEARCH CRITERIA FOR THE CARS I AM INTERSTED IN BUYING. THE BASIC INFORMATION ON THE CAR APPEARS, BUT IF I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT A PARTICULAR CAR THERE SHOULD BE A DROP DOWN ALONG SIDE THE COMPARE SECTION WHICH YOU CAN CLICK ON TO VIEW MORE INFORMATION ON THE CAR AND ALSO THE SELLERS TELEPHONE NUMBER AND INFORMATION. THIS DROP DOWN IS NOT APPEARING ON MY COMPUTER WITH THE RESULT THAT I CANNOT ACCESS ANY OF THE BUYERS… Read Full Review

I have used this site for years and have brought and sold many times. A vast range of vehicles are always available and it's great for comparing prices. Those who complain that they did not sell - how is that Autotrader's fault!? There are many people trying to sell poorly advertised vehicles or over priced, unpopular models. The only issue they have failed to deal with is scammers. Everytime i advertise i get some foreign scammer with a odd 'English' name emailling me. I let Autotrader… Read Full Review

I'm quite fussy person and it always takes me ages to decide if I buy something or not. Especially if it's a car. I like to do a lot of research and find out from different sources and people their opinion. I used Autotrader to look for a toyota car. I wasn't sure at the time which model I want- aygo or avis. They both seemed to be perfect cars for me. I found autotrader information very useful and the amount of people that are selling their used cars through the website allows you to chose the… Read Full Review

Autotrader is the default website for UK users looking for a secondhand car. Certainly the market leader by some margin, it has moved more mainstream than it used to be and I suspect that the majority of cars for sale are now from dealers, whereas at the outset this was much more about person to person. A great resource if you nkow what you want, but falls short if you need help deciding - review content, specification comparison and test data are all very much playing second fiddle to… Read Full Review

Never ever will I give autotrader.uk another penny. Bought insurance through them - initial cost £180. Sent them proof of no claims (via post) - they never received. Sent proof via email (they never received - never informed me and now have taken another £300 via my credit card). Asked to cancel insurance and have been informed that I will have to pay £176.72 for a short term insurance PLUS £35 cancel fee. Not bad (for them) for less that two months insurance.
I feel ripped… Read Full Review

Autotrader is a very good site for finding cars at a good price though so many dealers are on here. I had huge difficulties finding the location on their maps though as really old fashioned.

We are a small car dealers and up until recently had been spending around £3000 per year with Autotrader for several years which used to result moderate results in sales. Earlier this year we found out without any prior notice whatsoever that they were putting their prices up substantially overnight, and our £3k annual cost was now going to be £4k instead. Just what you need as finances start to get tougher for everyone! I spoke to them to see if we could negotiate something at all and they… Read Full Review

I placed an on-line ad to sell my car and paid £25 for two weeks. My last car sold through Auto Trader 3 years ago only cost £15. I got no response to ad for a week other than a company www.webuyanycar.co.uk even though I said 'no canvassers' in my ad. I also has a number of calls from 070 'personal numbers' and one from overseas. These types of numbers are allegedly linked with phone scams - call back and you'll be charged high rates or worse be exposed to fraud. Auto Trader realise this is… Read Full Review

Used this site a fair few times in the past years but feel the prices both advertising and the magazine are far too high now. I think the high price of advertising can be a surprise particularly if the magazine doesn't get the circulation. Also with sites such as Ebay, they really cannot compete… Read Full Review

I live in sussex and advertised my used cars (5) on autotrader and www.usedcarsinsussex.co.uk. Autotrader cost me £19 for one week and used cars in sussex .co.uk was free. I received 6 calls from Autotrader and 4 from used cars in sussex website, I sold 2 from each, but look at the difference in price. I didn't have to speak to anybody on the used cars in sussex.co.uk website, just uploaded the car. The way it was displyed was perfect, all information at the punters fingertips.
