Would never buy from BHS online again I bought a lamp online which arrived damaged so has to be returned. I asked for a refund including my postage according to the distance selling regulations ti received a refund for the lamp but not the postage I had paid. I emailed customer services twice but didn't receive any replies so tried to phone them on their premium rate line, I was kept hanging on for ages as no one answered. “Ordered a suit online for my son. Paid for next day...”

Ordered a suit online for my son. Paid for next day delivery. It arrived 2 days later in the wrong size. When I phoned them, they said I could re buy the suit and send the other one back, which i would get refunded for hen it was received by them, or go to my nearest store which had the items in stock (an hour drive away) and swap it. I tried to buy a DVD yesterday at the Bury branch although there were 4 people behind the till area only 1 was being used. The cashier was talking to the customer on a personal level for a while then when the customer finally paid the cashier suggested 'she upgraded her card, will only take a minute' nothing only takes a minute! Loved the sample. Decided to order. Great. Confirmation of order stated that Ena Shaw was the company I would get my curtains made up through. NOT at all happy because years ago I had curtains made through Ena Shaw and they were made short from measurements taken by them. Anyway went with it - sooooo disappointed. I did an on-line order with bhs for £91.13 this order was cancelled by them with no explanation! I phoned up to enquire about this order and was told by their sales advisor that exactly the same order was now a whopping £176.00!! The girl on the phone was very apologetic and told me if I placed the order for the full amount she would INSTANTLY refund the difference of £84.87 back onto the card making it the same as the original price!!! “Terrible service, do not order appliances from BHSdirect!”

I received a text message last night informing me that my delivery would be received between 7-9am this morning which i was pleased with rather than having to wait around all day, however at 7.20am i noticed a card had been put through the door saying they tried to deliver and no one was in- although they didnt ring the bell!! I won't go into the details but after being sent a pair of shoes in the wrong size, i had to re-order and pay up front! they sent me the wrong size again!!!! they also didn't apply the discount they were supposed to and charged me full price. “Bad service”

I have ordered a Whirly floor lamp from BHS, 12 days later I did not receive it and had to call up the company to check why. It turned out that the lamp was damaged in transit so was returned to the warehouse. No one has called me to inform me of anything. I got a refund and had to order another one on the phone because they could not resend out a new lamp for me on the same order (?). I took my father shopping today in the Birmingham City Centre Store, from the minute we got in there we thought we had entered the local disco ! the music was so loud we could not hear ourselves think or talk. “BHS Returns Sharp Practice”

BHS lost me as a customer for life today. Took back an item I was given as a present. It was too small. I had the receipt (£45). I went to my local store and selected a number of items to the value of £53. Went to the customer service counter expecting to pay the extra £8. Hello if you have your receipt showing the full price was paid they have to fefund that to you evan if the items are now in the sale ! i wuld have asked for the manager ! .. i would think your statutory rights have been breached

I had the misfortune to purchases a washer drier form BHS direct. This turned out to be the worst decision I have ever made when buying an appliance on line. I paid for installation and collection of my old appliance, which is clearly stated on their website, will be carried out at the time of delivery. This is one of the key reasons I chose to purchase from them. “No BHS direct customer service after purchase of Acer...”

After three months use of my Acer laptop, one of the key came of the keyboard. The Acer laptops was under guaranty and I phoned BHS customer service in hope that would sort out my keyboard issue. “Keep shopping there or BHS will be gone for ever”

Advantages: Odd bargains, better choice and quality than a supermarket Disadvantages: high prices Department stores are on the way out it seems. These stores sell everything but at inflated prices you can spend hours in them looking around so they all have restaurants and toilets in them. Very cheap meals could be bought in there restaurants 99p breakfasts etc inticing in shoppers for the brand name products sold at full price or with extreme discounts up to 75% off. “Worst service ever!”

Be warned, when they list an item as available it doesn't mean it actually is. My order got delayed and delayed a fortnight at a time with no apparent hope of it ever turning up. They offer no compensation, no viable alternative and just basically told me hard lines. Left without a fridge or freezer for a month now with a pregnant wife and young child. Brilliant!!!
