written by on 06/05/2013

my son bought his aerox in march and has had nothing but problems, the head gasket went, replaced with new head and cylinder, piston, was running then the crank case seals + bearings went so replaced with new + new belt, going again then just doesn't run properly loss of power and only goes about 10 miles an hour, please we need some help when its running brilliant, but just seems to be be in being fixed more than being riden!

they dont need batterys if you stsrt it on the kickstart
your choke is probally broken small electrical part on the side of carburetor its held in by 2 screws and a retainer plate
you say it runs ok once warm so this would suggest cold start mechanism
choke ?

“An amazing moped”

★★★★★

written by on 26/06/2012

I recently bought a used yamaha aerox 50cc from 2005 and it is amazing. One of the best 50cc-s i've ever driven. It looks very nice, and it rides even better, uphills it does 50-60 km/h (40 if the hill is very steep), and downhills and horizontally it does up to 90km/h, even though it says it can only go 80, when it gets to 80 i can still feel it accelerate. It automatically turns the light on when you turn the moped on, and it automatically turns the light off when you turn the moped off, which is really nice for me because i used to accidentaly leave the light on and drain the battery by doing so. The only cons of this moped are a small seat with barely enough space for 2 people and not a lot of storage space, but all in all, an amazing moped.

Perhaps your rollers are worn down or you have got rollers in that are set-up for acceleration instead of top speed, usually aerox have a size 6 roller, so maybe you need to go for a smaller size of 4.5 - 5 as it will give you a quicker acceleration. You can pick up decent rollers from ebay or any main dealer in a motorbike shop. explain that it may be your rollers, if not go onto ped parts online and maybe upgrade your bike parts to polini or mellosi parts.

“worst 50cc ever owned”

★☆☆☆☆

written by xps50 on 16/02/2012

the only way to sum up a aerox 50 is un-inspiring ive had mine for two months and has been the worst granny moped i have ever ridin, i would rather ride a donkey, because thats how shocking it is. evertime you ride it, it bounces up and down because of the rollers, clutch springs etc. and because of this it will barely take off, if you wanted a real 50cc get a peugeot xps as they do not handle and move like a asda trolley and are much faster and stylish and i dont feel like a like will young when riding one like i do on a aerox. overall they are overated jordan

Take it to a different garage, somewhere, where the mechanic knows what he's doing. any decent bike mechanic will fix it.

“My first ped - Excellent buy!”

★★★★★

written by AeroxFan005 on 11/12/2011

I bought my Yamaha Aerox R 50cc 2011 in blue a week and a half ago and i must say it is an amazing bike! It came restricted and i rode it like this for just over a week. It cruised along at 31mph on flatland and 36mph maxed downhill. After a week i took of the restrictor on the variator ( fair easy with basic tools, would have been easier if i had a impact wrench but i just used an Allen Key and a spanner) after removing the restrictor i found i cruised at about 37mph flatland and 42-43mph downhill with alot more acceleration! This small increase is enough for me to beable too keep behind cars in most traffic on my journey too school and if i were to get pulled over by the police the scooter looks and sounds restricted. I will soon be purchasing a Stage 6 exhaust and this should hopefully increase the speed by another 10-15mph. The scooter handles well in wet / rainy conditions and is okay on frosty roads as long as you slow down on corners and generaly take your time. Over all the scooter looks, sounds and rides amazing! A perfect buy for any first time rider or someone looking too buy a sporty scoot to ride around town on. Very happy buyer and owner of an aerox

The aerox and jog RR, both share exactly the same engine and transmission. Produce exactly the same amount of power, with the same power curve's.
They are simply styled differently.
But if yours is not de-restricted, get it de-restricted, it makes them so much better. A well tuned aerox is Amazing.

“Iv'e had this rossi replica bike from new since...”

written by on 16/08/2010

Iv'e had this rossi replica bike from new since Christmas when we had snow every day for like a month and it started up everytime. amazing build quality and reliability but when i got it, the bike was restricted and it literally did 30mph! most 50cc restricted do 35mph ... so i wasn't impressed so i got it de-restricted which let me get to 50mph but that was only with the wind behind me and it didn't feel very nippy still so i got a technigas exhaust and a simple main jet upgrade(50p) and now it does 50 up hills and can go up to 60-65mph which is impressive. ive had no problems what so ever and the handing, balance everything is amazing. I also had a alarm installed because i don't like the thought of my bike being tampered with when im at school and works a treat if i see someone near the bike or about to sit on it i can just turn my panic button on and they sh*t themselves! anyway long story short i just turned 17 and want a bigger bike.

written by on 20/07/2010

I absolutely love my aerox. Before derestriction it beat my two friends off the line, one had a speedfight 2 and the other had a runner. We all got bored of 30mph, so decided to have a standered derestriction done to the bike and added a sports pipe. I chose the Doppler S3R and i have to say i was surprised at the speed and acceleration i got out of my aerox. I now easily reach 55mph.

as for the aerox itself; it looks good, runs smoothly and never fails to start first time. Even the seat is styled.

If you've got the money, this is definitely the ped to go for!
