“Worst service! overbooked 1 class, kids're seated...”

My family's been travelling US for 2 months, long distance trips are by 1st class, trip was booked 6 months in advance. Since it's our first time in US all flights were booked with AA. Now we know it was the worst possible choice. Never ever travel by AA if you have choice. Almost all the time online check-in id unavailable from the start. They put kids separately from parents. “Really Burned Out Attendants”

I am a 59 year old woman. I believe age should not be a determining factor in continuing one's career but I also believe that the essential criteria for attendants dealing with the public customer service is that it is met WITHOUT a foul personality, obvious disgust & disdain, sarcasm, absolutely no enthusiasm or willingness to be of service and answering questions w/o checking their information so ultimately giving out wrong information. My daughter had the most horrific experience with American Airlines, not once but twice in a week, she send an email complaining about it and they never responded. Cancel flights with out explanation, paying fees for services not used, rude customer service. I don't understand how they stay in business. “Passenger Harassment At Gate”

AA homed in on my carrying at RSW on 7-31-14 to ORD. AA has an intimidating over weight, bleached blond female who ordered me to check my carry on. In process of sizing I hit my Breitling watch against metal frame. I was infuriated and indicated to agent that I may have damaged my watch. She responded by saying I was a liar. Ever since the merger, I have had a total of 6 flights and not one of them have been on time. In fact, 2 of the flights got canceled and they did not even bother to call me and see if I wanted to keep my connecting flight, they just canceled it also and I had to wait on the phone for 4 hours (YES I waited 4 hours) to talk to someone and inform them I would still make my connecting flight as I could drive to Dallas and since my 2nd flight was still on I would be happy to at least make that one… Read Full Review

“Glide path”

Our Pilot was in and out of throttle the entire flight. When I questioned him later as to why he has such a difficult time keeping the plane in the glide path while landing, he informed me that you needed a lot of power to keep the plane in the glide path. Humm if that were the case wouldn't they have called it the power path? This pilot obviously does not understand how to use a throttle setting. Very professional, pleasant flight. I was a little worried, after booking I looked at the reviews and they weren't good. Having traveled on many airlines throughout the years and I have no complaints about AA on my return flights to Ireland. We boarded, we were fed, kept safe and landed. Attendants were attentive enough, pleasant and did their jobs. Flight delayed a little bit, this happens with most airlines. First of all why do I have to check myself in for my flight. Eventually it is going to be like the the supermarcket at the airport. I am not sure at what point it became socially acceptable to charge people to put bags into the belly of the plane. I just forked over $225 to bring some clothes and some hand tools to New York so I can help my grandfather. I am here at LAX with my family waiting since 6am only to find out our flight has been cancelled not once but twice. We are now waiting for an 830pm flight but even that is not guaranteed. American Airlines luggage weigh in was 1.5 lbs. over and was charged an additional $100.00 for luggage. I made it clear that my luggage was not over going to my destination and I did remove more on my return so how could it be over? If you’re looking for a company that will fly you in the least comfort at the highest price then look no further – you found it. It is inconceivable that American Airlines are still flying old planes with no individual entertainment systems on their transatlantic crossing and charging more than anyone else for the privilege. My flight was canceled and re-booked so I was just trying to get a new boarding pass. 3 employees standing behind the counter and no one even acknowledged me standing there for 5 minutes. American Airlines delayed a flight by such that it would miss its connection then made me wait in an hour and a half line to talk to an agent whos only solution was to get me halfway to my destination and then use a hotel which they would not compensate me for. The whole time 2 agents did nothing while waiting to serve priority boarders who were not even there. Flew Business Class to Miami with them in April. Chose them because they were the least cost service to my destination with guaranteed Flatbeds both ways (BA / Virgin could not ! )level of service was very good throughout both trips. Special thanks go to the check in staff at Heathrow who even sorted out my online usa visas x2 because I was unaware of the latest system prebooking. Received an email from American and US Airways. Taking about change to baggage policy. Scheduled trip on American. The waived bag fee only applies to US air. When speaking with US Airways credit card was told that none of the baggage information in email was correct. Flight attendant's face would have broken if she tried to smile. If there was a way to rate this company's service to a score less than 1, I would do that. I booked my flight all confirmed connecting through Chicago. In Chicago, after a gate change, and an hour delay, they cancelled the flight to my destination. No options, no direction, just cancelled.
