I've used a dozen online plant companies, amongst them, Crocus is by far the best in terms of the Contact-ability, speed of delivery and quality of plant. The value for money side is not so great comparing to local nursery, especial when you take into account of the delivery charge. I read some previous reviews about the size of the plants and damaged plant in transport. It will happen when you are shopping online. You don't always get what you think you will get. “Terrible service and rip off prices”

Ordered and waited and waited. Finnaly the plants arrived. Very small and in poor condition. I would not have paid half the price had I bought them from B & Q. Very poor customer servics ~~~ you can not contact them… Read Full Review

Yes, you would probably do better to buy from B & Q next year. This is the company that bedecked the Queen's Jubilee Barge, believe it or not, so there is definitely and 1st class and a 3rd class, depending who you are...

“Fab! An amazing business ”

Amazing healthy plants delivery always as promised and plants arrive in spectacular condition as well as extremely well packaged. The Myrtle I ordered has already grown two inches within a week! I also ordered a Clematis which Crocus decided not to send as they were concerned about the quality and they organized a refund immediately! “Terrible value”

I only recieved half of my order, some of the plants were broken the rest were the worst quality you could get! They dumped it outside my house in a broken box! I tried to ring them but no one was taking responsibility and kept me waiting me on the phone (at ?p a minute) and then passing me from one clues less department to another. Finally they arranged to come and pick it up and issue a refund but they didn't come on the day we arranged and I am still waiting for my refund from May!… Read Full Review

“Echinacea Hell!”

Ordered 9 echinacea plants through The Daily Telegraph but the invoice was from Crocus, they arrived well packed but the ""plants"" in 9cm pots were only single shoots not plants as I know them! The compost was completely sodden, and most of the ""plants"" were completely rotten, just mush! They replaced 7 of them, these arrived from RHS plants, and were exactly the same as before! I complained about my order of plants (that were not even fit to be planted in my garden) in a detailed letter to one of the Directors, who couldn't even be bothered to reply. I accepted a refund of half cost, which was a mistake, as the plants went on to die completely. Yes it is shame on them: as well as Chelsea, they supplied the plants for the Jubilee Barge last year.

“terrible customer service”

I would not ever use this company. I wanted to purchase a plant on special offer, however when I added it to my basket and went to the checkout, it was giving me the normal price. I phoned their customer service to check and the lady told me I was wrong. When I very politely pointed out that there was obviously a problem on their website and what we could do about it, she shouted at me and put the phone down. “So, so disappointing - never again”

I've recently ordered a large selection of plants from Crocus, excellent site, easy to compare plants, ideal for planning new borders (as I am doing) but Oh! So disappointing - plants arrived badly packaged, agapanthus crushed together in flimsy cardboard boxes that weren't strong enough to take the weight of the plants let alone stand up to the rigours of the delivery man! I have had a relatively poor experience with Crocus. I made a significant order, some of the plants were poorly packed and arrived upside down .......... I tried to make changes at least 3 days before the delivery but was told I couldn't and hence some plants were delivered that I didn't want and which I now have to return at my cost. i had a similar experience with many other online plant stores, until i found crowders who were amazing! their customer service is great and plants and packaging really good! i would recommend them to anyone!

Last year most of my plants from Crocus were dead on arrival, & looked like pot rooted left-overs/rejects. It was awful to see plants in this condition and I was shocked anyone could send them out. I now shop from my local garden centre, my pet shop! and off Ebay - where I have received some beautifully healthy and cared for plants at a fraction of Crocus prices, from individuals who really love their plants. When I first shopped at Crocus some years ago now, I really thought they had the WOW factor, but not any more.

“Crocus: as good as a garden centre”

I first used Crocus a few years ago, and I wasn't that impressed with them. However, I am planting up a large flowerbed and wanted a particular grass that I could only find on their site, so I thought I would give them another go. The grass I wanted was Molinia caerulea subsp. Heidebraut, which I am sure must be for sale elsewhere, but I contacted a couple of places I found on the RHS plant finder, and they were out of stock. Crocus were selling large plants for under £5 . It is a fabulous grass, wonderful colour and the three plants I purchased even had some 'flowers' on them.

“Ignored Delivery instruction, ambiguity on delivery ”

Ordered a plant with crocus. took 4 days to arrive, note stated 'within 2-3 days'. When queried, they advised that their courier does not operate on Saturdays, which is fair enough, but this is not made explicit at any stage of the ordering process, nor on the website so far as I can see. All they need to do to remove this ambiguity is change the wording to 'within 2-3 working days'. Second point, delivery instruction completely ignored, negating the whole purpose of it. I don't want vouchers either for poor goods or service - & they never include postage - but seem more like a marketing incentive to buy again. I addressed the problems I had with this company to director level, but they didn't take the time to reply to me personally, which somewhat surprised me, nor did they address the issues I made about abysmal plants etc. I doubt if I will buy from this company again, and as you say there are many alternatives out there. At least your plant was alive!

“Telegraph garden shop - beware”

I made a purchase though the Telegraph Garden Shop who, as I understand it and as far as I can tell, use Crocus as their supplier. I ordered a ‘wedding cake tree’ which arrived late, dry, wilting, and with brown leaves and huge insect bites out of the foliage. It was also very small. It was not fit for sale. Purchased some fruit bushes from their website. Box arrived well packaged. Unfortunately upon opening fruit flies took over our flat. Plants were in terrible condition with what appeared to be white bug casings on the leaves which were in the process of curling up and dying. I usually buy from Crocus when I want some very specific quality plants and am prepared to spend a bit more than usual. I have bought lovely garden pots from them in the past as well, and received excellent Customer Service with notification of delivery dates. Not this year though. What has happened to Crocus? Just to add to this review, the Verbascum 'Blue Lagoon" is not dead: it didn't stand a chance. I bought is now dead. No-one in the upper echelons of this Company can tell me why inferior plants were sent out in the first place.

Have used Crocus for many years, always have had lovely plants. Chose to pay the extra this year for my veggies. Should have arrived in May, some arrived in early April - in a dreadful state. Some didn't even have any roots. I have to say, that these were quickly replaced - but with more poor quality plants. the second part of my order did not arrive when it should have done. “Dreadful customer service”

the site and selection is great but the customer service is appalling. It takes days for them to respond to emails and the calls to customer service are redirected to the order line. The delivery is inflexible and they give you no notice (despite asking repeatedly for an update on when the goods would arrive). They also managed to loose one of the two boxes in the consignment. seriously, it's not worth the bother of using them (don't be fooled by the nice website like i was!).
