“disappointed with a poor service”

Written on: 13/09/2015 by MarciaHuffman (2 reviews written)

The next day, still having not heard from anyone at John Lewis, I called again to try to inquire about my blinds only to hear that the order had not been processed upon the day of purchase and had only been placed after I had gone to inquire in store!… Read Full Review

I did not hear from them in regards to the fitting service and after ten days I went into store to follow up. I was told by the sales associate that the person who dealt with the blinds and curtains orders were on break and they would contact me by the end of the day... The next day… Read Full Review

“Absolutely terrible”

Written on: 13/09/2015 by GilbertHays (2 reviews written)

Paid for a guaranteed delivery and no show. On calling John Lewis they can't say where our delivery is and whether we will receive it today. Absolutely gutted we have wasted our evening waiting for an expensive TV which is no where to be seen. Ridiculous, customer service zero. Will not be recommending to any family, friends or colleagues… Read Full Review

Do you understand the nature of delivering? You need to drive a van, you need hands to lift items, you need to give the current customer attention. Why do you assume there is a direct line to the couriers brain where his whereabouts can be picked from his head as soon as you demand it?

“ total shambles”

Written on: 13/09/2015 by ChandraMaynard (1 review written)

Ordered a sofa on the 15th July.... Have spoken with over 12 different people at John Lewis, half of which could hardly string a sentence together.... None of them, and I mean none of them could give me an accurate date for delivery or indeed tell me where the sofa is!!! I expected so much more from JL, their customer service is practically none existent. I was told six weeks ago the factory was awaiting the material but not to worry it would be there in 2 days... 6 weeks later they just rolled… Read Full Review

Sofa's do not come with tracking devices. Naturally they go from transit between distribution centres and service buildings.. At which point they are not immediately apparent.
I'm not sure if your 'string a sentence' together insult is accent or intelligence related, though it's personal and unnecessary.
I hope you get your sofa soon.

“Shambolic customer services”

Written on: 13/09/2015 by TabathaBarron (1 review written)

My all-time favourite ad is the John Lewis snowman who journeys through a blizzard to get a gift for his other half from a distant John Lewis store. It kills me. But now I know it wasn't the power of love that motivated him. He clearly knew that if he ordered online he couldn't rely on the scarf and gloves being delivered or on customer services to help when something went wrong! I ordered wallpaper which didn't arrive. I wasn't too worried - these things happen and I was sure it would be… Read Full Review

“I purchased a Bosch hub and installation on John Lewis...”

Written on: 13/09/2015 by MarcieBerger (2 reviews written)

I purchased a Bosch hub and installation on John Lewis website, to replace the older Bosch hob. The hob stopped working within less than 12 hours post installation. I called John Lewis to request that they send an engineer to check the hob and the connections to complete the installation. I ended up being transferred several times, with no single department willing to take the responsibility for this. John Lewis' online department did not want to deal with this as well. It turns out, when a… Read Full Review

“TERRIBLE DELIVERY SERVICE”

Written on: 13/09/2015 by DiannBlevins (2 reviews written)

I ordered a baby monitor and some baby clothing online a week ago. I received email from Hermes on Tuesday afternoon saying my John Lewis order had been successfully delivered, with no trace of my parcel's whereabouts. On calling Hermes they took no responsibility for the parcel and I was told to contact JL. On calling JL and after holding the line for 30 minutes I was told that the parcel may have been wrongly delivered and Hermes will get back in touch. Increasingly reading through these reviews I'm seeing large amounts of people expecting the retailer to psychically know where the item is..
It's like no one here has ever sent a parcel for. You send it, then it is delivered. It is signed for, if it has not been signed for, it is not at the destination. Therefore how in any logical sense is someone supposed to immediately be able to tell you where it is?
Hopefully you get your item soon.

“Bed That Creeks, Cannot Fix It”

Written on: 28/08/2015 by zkMcCann77 (1 review written)

We bought an expensive bed from John Lewis which they assembled. We told them it creeks.

They make back and said they fixed it. It continued to creek. It took several calls and they came back again. They found out that the bed.....did not have all the screws!

So 2 people checked it and did not find screws were missing. We have to wait for new screws to be delivered.

Another call for 28 minutes to someone that could not read the history of the case despite me quoting the name. She cut me off, did

“Very unhappy and disappointed ”

Written on: 19/07/2015

I recently purchased a icandy peach blossom 3 from the John Lewis Westfield Stratford store at a considerable cost and I have been left appalled by my whole experience! First off the customer care I received was disappointing, the sales team were to busy to help, eventually we got to speak with someone who was very unhelpful but as I was desperately needing a double buggy for my two year old and four month old I went ahead and purchased the buggy as I could take it home that day. You consider it bad customer service if a sales advisor is busy helping other customers? I'm not sure what you expect them to do in that situation. Just be not busy for you?
It's a shame you had a bad experience, though I don't think John Lewis tested out the loan buggy on two test children, do you? It must have been annoying it was broken but I don't see how this correlates to a retailer not caring about your children's safety.. Seems like a bit of a stretch to slander them because you're unhappy.

“Beyond appalling”

Written on: 09/07/2015 by Mike1951 (1 review written)

I ordered and paid for a Samsung fridge on 18/06/15. Also took installation and removal of the old fridge. Told them that the kitchen was in the basement. Delivery promised within 10 days. Now for what actually happened... I got a phone call from a company called Expert Logistics (something of a misnomer)on 27/06/15 about delivery. On being told that the kitchen was in a basement - which they claimed not to have been told - they initially refused to deliver. Eventually after several days… Read Full Review

A touch venomous, far too acidic and insulting to really be a constructive review in all honesty.
Quite obviously the department isn't designed to annoy customers until they hang up. No department of any retailer is.. This and the majority of your review is just ridiculous.
Every retailers from John Lewis to Tesco must use 3rd party companies for large electrical deliveries. In most cases, the third party companies are used by a bunch of retailers, meaning you may have got the same delivery drivers as if you had ordered from Curry's or the like.
What I see here is that one awkward customer (Kitchen in a basemen - wow) who thinks well founded, long standing businesses with incredibly complicated process having to bend over backwards to change deeply embedded processes or you'll tell innocent front line agents you wish to swear at them.
Poor show sir, poor show.

“Shocking”

I ordered several items and was able to pick delivery dates which ensured all items would be delivered on the same day so I only needed to take one day off from work and I arranged a tradesman for the following day to install the items. On the delivery day all the items except one arrived. When I contacted John Lewis customer 'support' it took 4 attempts to ascertain the missing item hadn't even been processed due to an IT issue. “Shocking service and are holding my money with no goods”

When I phoned they tried twice more. On calling my bank I found out that it had been authorised and the reason it wasn't going through on the other attempts was as I hadn't the funds which was expected as I had allocated just enough for the headphones I have called again and emailed twice and on the phone… Read Full Review

“Appalling Customer Experience”

Purchased an IT system from John Lewis on-line on 12 April. It arrived faulty on 15 April, was reported as such and a replacement provided on 16 April. 1. The same courier is not used for delivery, JL may contract the same company though due to said contractual obligations, often pick ups/deliveries is not possible and need to be arranged separately.

With regards to the warranty, I'm not sure what you're trying to imply but it is more than likely the warranty changed because a promotion or sale had just taken place.

1. So you had some original paperwork but you lost it? It's your obligation to keep your purchase information.

2. The replacement according to you, was one day later. So you're kicking up a fuss? That is pedantic, especially considering most major retailers will offer a grace period of a week or two once the warranty is over. Making this entirely redundant.

3. Retailers need to use third party couriers. You don't buy a TV from Tesco, then the gentleman behind the till lugs it into his car and takes it to your house for you. Third party couriers fluctuate contracts, agreements and their own situations meaning they cannot always provide collection/deliveries. So, what it appears John Lewis have done is to arrange both separate (More work & money for them) instead of giving you a 2 week lead time which they would have had every right to have done?

Awful review.

“John Lewis fitted bedrooms”

Written on: 02/04/2015 by JosephineMcClure (1 review written)

If you are considering buying John Lewis fitted bedroom furniture, DON'T! John Lewis out-source this to Hammonds. John Lewis very carefully hide the fact that, other than collect your money and charge premium rates for their name, they have nothing else to do with the after sales. If anything goes wrong (which it probably will) it is almost impossible to get any aftersales service because John Lewis hide the fact that they don't make or install the furniture, even from most of their own staff… Read Full Review

This is by no means hidden. With regards to any item purchased, there is a period of guarantee which belongs to the manufacturers/ contractors. This is common knowledge. If anything goes wrong within the first year or two of purchase then you contact said people.

I'm not sure what reflection on JL it has if a third party company does something entirely out of their control. You can't possibly expect a company to have qualified technicians/engineers/installers in quite literally every aspect of purchases.

First of all, why press the button five times? It is not a refresh button and often people will accidentally end up paying for something five times and blame JL for slow internet/fraud checks (causing the system to go slow)

When leaving notes for delivery drivers, there is no which way the agent you are speaking to is able to directly tell the specific courier your address instructions. All he can do is leave a note on the system and hope the courier is competent enough to review the notes. Unfortunately in this case he wasn't.

Yes, the agent would have full access to your bank details so he did a security check. Call me old fashioned, but do you like the thought of a complete stranger calling in with your name and JL giving them all of your details without checking security?
