“Hopeless delivery service”

“Useless ”

I ordered a TV online and selected the second available date offered for delivery. Payment was taken from my credit card immediately. Approximately one hour before delivery should have been made I received a phone call to advise that no delivery would be happening as the TV was out of stock. Telephone calls to 'customer services' (not a good name as they probably can't spell it let alone understand what it means) made things worse as apparently they are not getting any more of the TVs ordered… Read Full Review

“Poor staff knowledge”

Went to our local John Lewis Baby Department. Needed to buy Nursery Furniture, Pram, Car Seat etc. Was very excited as this was our first baby shopping trip. Arrived at the store and had to wait 40 minutes before we were served. As new expectant parents we needed to be shown everything from scratch, how to work things, fit them in the car etc. Although the lady who eventually served us was very polite she actually didn't know anything. “They would not deliver a fridge!”

Last week, I went to John Lewis in Bluewater to replace our Maytag American fridge freezer. I was interested in either a John Lewis or Fisher Paykel appliance. I was told by the sales assistant that she couldn’t guarantee delivery as we have 10 steps to our house and a gravel drive. Ordered a freezer from John Lewis, at a very good price. As informed, was txtd the evening before and given a time slot of 11.40 to 14.40. Ordered a cooker from High Wycombe branch Deliverd promptly, and no problems with it. Unfortunately they forgot to take away the old one, which I had disconnected and placed outside , on the drive, for easy collection. “highly impressed with customer service and support”

I have found the customer service at both Newcastle, and the newly opened York stores to be highly impressive. Unfortunately I had purchased a faulty laptop and had to return to the store. Because I had to travel from York to Newcastle they reimbursed my train tickets, swapped my laptop for a new one and provided me with tips for any future problems. “Worst customer service ever”

John Lewis on line offer the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. I live in Perthshire which JL call a 'remote region' therefore all deliveries are via a third party carrier. I ordered a book case and was promised 7 day delivery, over two weeks later the item arrived, heavily damaged and with pieces missing. We spent £1,000's with John Lewis in the 1990's when we were setting up out house, but in the last 10 years have shopped there very little, as we felt that their prices and convenience were being overtaken by the availability of internet outlets. bought a John Lewis microwave April 2013. Has developed a problem with the door no problem, 2 years guarantee, has their name on it give them a ring, they will exchange. In my dreams they pointed out that the guarantee is only for repair and parts. “Worst delivery experience from any store”

I waited for over 10 days after placing my order (for a TV) to be given a delivery slot. I was given a 6 hour time slot (7am - 1pm). The driver rang at 1pm to say he was not coming - he "ran out of time" and "sometimes things happen on the road". He said JL would ring within "half an hour" to rearrange the delivery. Have been a regular John Lewis shopper for a number of years. The service isn't quite what it was, but it is far superior to most other High Street stores. One thing that concerned me was, following a recent delivery, I was given a card which stated that I had been offered the option to have all packaging removed and for the item to be placed in the room of my choosing. “Fabulous service albeit poorly designed online story”

The gripes are that the online store insists on showing out of stock orders (even when I choose to not see them), and they do not issue special orders outside of the UK. On the positive side, I have found the customer service department to generally be responsive, helpful and keen to please. I ordered a new cooker online and paid the extra £74 for connection and disposal of old cooker. I took a day off work and waited in all day, only for the cooker to turn up at 6:30 PM and be told they couldn't connect it and if I didn't like that I should ring their so-called customer services.
