John Lewis.com were very happy to take my money - which they did 4 days before the advised delivery date. The goods didn't arrive, they didn't know why. I am still trying to get my goods, they have offered a date 8 days after taking my money but can't explain the problem or even call me when they promise. I have been bitterly disappointed with the appalling customer service of what is meant to be a premium company. I purchased an HP deskjet wireless printer and two lots of inks to go with it (from online John Lewis) for a Christmas present. I paid with £20 worth of John Lewis vouchers and the balance was paid in cash.
The printer arrived via courier and I opened it the next morning only to find that it was smashed to smithereens, the glass scanning plate was in pieces and the printer was rattling about inside as though it had been dropped from a great height. Ordered a Panasonic 3D t.v. which had a blue ray player and 2 pairs of glasses bundled with it as an promotion.I didn't think I would be ready for delivery straight away so arranged it for a fortnight later. They had no stock and you can only buy in store but customer service advised we can get you one sent from another store to you home address he implied this would be on Monday when this was Saturday. Did not hear from them so phoned and discovered can be 2-4 weeks. Having decided to buy from John Lewis, because they were promoting VAT cashback which made the item competitive, their customer service has been rubbish. Two calls to a pretty poor tech line as well as no VAT receipt or paperwork to enable the cashback, followed by broken promise to send the paperwork within a week and, therafter, to call back in 24hrs to tell me what they have sorted.... evidently nothing! Well I have had a bad exprerience with JL price promise, I sent in my form with all the detsils filled in correctly for two camera lens's, one was £90 difference and the other £105 difference. After a week I heard nothing and called them, got told they were busy and to be patient. Purchased 3 Nolte Mobel wardrobes. Cost £3,000. All 3 had installation faults.

When buying in the John Lewis Edinburgh store I asked the Assistant if the Nolte wardrobes could slide forward, when decorating in the room. I was told yes. Later a Nolte fitter said the wardrobes would just fall apart if moved. He added, the glass doors are far too heavy, and you have to be really careful when sliding them. Its a bad design.

[I would suggest John Lewis review the courier service they use]. When I phoned customer services and explained the situation, they immediately offered me a full refund PLUS £10 as a good will gesture [I refused a replacement]. 1. I asked for a made-to-measure roller blind to be delivered to the Cardiff store for collection. It got lost in their storage room. They did not contact us that the blind had arrived and it took two visits to the store to locate it.

Purchased a pair of Purple trainers online they arrived and were Pink it took 3 emails and 2 phone calls to get a RMA number for a return as they were not the right colour as described online. Total outlay £25 on phone calls left hanging on for 45+ minutes. Courier did notturn up as booked lost a days pay.

All in all £25 to cover cost of phone calls and a pathetic afterthought Sorry. I would not recommend buying online this Christmas from this company service is awful… Read Full Review

I can believe this as I had trouble with John Lewis returning an iPod with a faulty battery.
<br/>
<br/>They messed me around that much I had to leave the iPod and return for it twice, they claimed they had changed it when they hadn't and they also basically accused ME of being dishonest(!), so I can understand how insulted and infuriated you must have felt.
<br/>
<br/>In the end it was more trouble than it was worth fighting with them and I gave up. The iPod died for good a short while later and I won't ever go back to John Lewis.

The delivery took forever, after about 8 days of no show I phoned up John Lewis and was told that a substitute order had been created free of charge and this arrived the next day. The original order did turn up a few days later. Have always liked John Lewis and found them to have polite, customer-oriented staff - not always perfect, but a definite cut above the staff in other shops who make it quite clear that the customer is an interruption to their own social lives.
Their merchandise is usually of very good quality, and I have never had a problem if I've wanted to return anything.

I phoned the High Wycombe shop to see if they had a product in stock. According to the person on the phone, they did not. I popped in anyway and found that they had 3 in stock. Lewis in Oxford Street, and the service was atrocious! first they got our details wrong for delivery...then the bed broke and the Aftersales care was absolutely appalling, the Mr Woodwood phoned me and said "your warranty had run out"...We'd only had the bed 3 months!
